2023 Mazda CX-30 Great little crossover
I got this over the Mazda 3 sedan/hatchback because it has better ground clearance, more rear headroom, and standard AWD. I've had it for about two weeks. Here's my pros and cons, coming from a 2019 Kia Optima. Pros: the handling is amazing. It's so sharp in turns, with very little body roll. I have no problem going a higher speed in a turn. I enjoy driving it, it feels almost therapeutic. Although, thanks to the great handling and 18' wheel size, you will feel more of the road. Decent power: while it's no Porsche, the 191 hp engine has plenty of oomph to get you up to speed. Especially if you put it in sport mode. I have no problems with accelerating or maintaining higher speeds. Interior quality: is top notch. Many soft touch services and comfy leatherette seats. The interior looks very classy and polished. Features: great amount of features. Standard LED lights, apple/Android compatibility, and many active safety features. (I recommend getting the select, the one above the base, for blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert, you also get the leatherette seats, roof rails, and rear privacy window tint, and smart key) Fuel economy: I get about 27 mpg with some highway but mostly city driving. That isn't bad for an AWD crossover. Neutral: the safety features. The safety features are much more "hands off" compared to my 2019 Kia Optima. I don't ever hear my Mazda beeping at me for taking my hands off the steering wheel for a moment. The Kia Optima was definitely more of a "nanny" car. Cons: Infotainment and climate system is finicky to use at first. It is a little bit of a learning curve. Cramped rear seats. This is not a vehicle if you're regularly going to be hauling around 4 or especially 5 full grown adults around all the time. It's just too small, especially the rear leg room. I'm about 5'6 and usually only have one passenger. So this is no problem for me. The fuel capacity is only 12.7 gallons. So you will be filling up more often if you're coming from a bigger vehicle. All-in-all a fantastic SUV for your money. As long as you view this as more of a lifted hatchback (due to its small size) than an actual SUV, and you like that idea, then this is the vehicle for you. Definitely give it a test drive, and test out the space, like folding the seats back. Highly recommend and hope this review helped!

Best bang for the buck
Comes standard with AWD, competitors charge $1500 more or don't offer it at all. They don't mention AWD in performance, value, wildcard, pro's/con's, how does it drive, or fuel economy. It should have been mentioned in all those because it affects all those. Despite me even writing them and telling them this, they refuse to change their review. It also has more horsepower than most in it's class. The Subaru Crosstek has 158hp and a CVT. This has 191 and a 6 speed. On looks and handling alone, this is top of the class by FAR. Top tier crash numbers too. I'm getting WAY over the rated mpg. On my morning 12 minute drive to the dog park and back, I get 34-37mpg average on that trip every morning. That's with 5 stops signs and 4 lights on that trip.

Good value for money, looks good, few flaws
Bought the car in Sept. 2021, have 5,200 miles at the time of posting of this to replace a 2014 Focus with the cursed DCT. Had considered a Mazda 3 sedan but this was not much more in price and better equipped. It is good value for the money. Inside and out much like a premium brand like Volvo, BMW, Audi and a step above a Honda, Toyota, Hyundai/Kia. Has a real transmission, not a DCT or CVT. Has safety goodies like the cross-traffic backup warning, blind spot, lane warning systems I like and need. I am only 5'4" but sit in it well, easy to get in/out of. With back seat down, can put in a lot of stuff, more than in a sedan. Getting about 28 MPG in mixed suburban driving. My only complaints are: The small cargo area with the back seats up, especially with the sharp angle of the upper part of the hatch gate. A few of the safety goodies a bit too nagging although some can be adjusted to be less annoying. The auto headlights don't go on when wipers are on (as required by law in NJ) in overcast daytime conditions, have to turn on manually. Get warnings to turn on and run car due to 'low battery' condition. Service warnings go on way too far before due (perhaps the dealer set it up that way ?). Has some blind spots even with warning systems. Update 2/10/23 : Has about 24,000 miles on it. Took this on a 10,000 mile cross country trip from NJ to LA in Sept. 2022. Never missed a beat. Rode firm and comfortable on interstates to twisties in the Ozarks. A/C kept up with 100F + heat. Operated from sea level to 12,300 feet but only got a little weak at the highest altitudes. Fuel mileage up to 33 MPG highway, Slight hunting for gear in transmission at times. Small fuel tank, should be 1.5 to 2 gallons more. Sometime the lane departure warning sees tar crack filling instead of lane markers. Visibility poor to back/sides, the blind spot monitor and warning very important. Cargo area a bit small with back seats up. Mine is in silver and when cleaned and shined up, just glows beautifully. Had to transport a friend who has a partially missing lower right leg and is over 6 feet tall, very difficult for him to get in/out of the front passengers seat.

Perfect Vehicle
I bought a 2023 CX 30 a month or so ago. I went to purchase the 2023 CX 5, but when my wife saw the CX 30 I was overruled. I cannot believe this little S.U.V. It's so much fun to drive and I feel like I'm in a high-end vehicle. The interior is nothing short of awesome. It's engine is more then capable for any driver. Those who have stated it could use a little more power should have bought a Dodge Charger. I could go on all day about this vehicle, but I will end this with. Great Vehicle!!!!!

Love the Mazda
Purchased my Mazda after driving a Ford F-150 for 5 years, the Yin and Yang of vehicles. The truck was fantastic. I was looking for the following in a new car, in no particular order: - Reliability; want to keep the car for 10 -15 years. - All Wheel Drive: live in the mountains so this is a must have. - Good gas mileage. - A real transmission; no CVT, see reliability above. - Fun to drive, dare I say Sporty. - Quiet when going down the road. - Comfortable front seat. - Great stereo. - Nice interior. - An SUV, it is easier to get into and out of the higher ride height of an SUV. - Wealth of Driver aids. - Affordable; got a great price with 0% financing. My kids are grown and the vast majority of the time it is just me in the car. Occasionally it is my wife and I in the car. So, the smaller rear seat area is non-issue. It took me two years of research, reading reviews, a few test drives and 0% financing to get me to finally decide on the 2024 Mazda CX-30, S Premium. As much as I wanted the Turbo the increased cost, slightly lower fuel mileage, and potential for longer term increase in repair costs pointed to the non-turbo car. So far, after a whopping 1,500 miles, I love the car. It is everything I had hoped for and expected. The gas mileage is about 34 mpg in mostly highway driving of 75 miles per hour. It rides superbly, love the heavily weighted steering, it is sporty and fun to drive (for me it is a much better driving car than my wife’s Audi Q5), the stereo is wonderful and with the back seats down there is enough cargo capacity. It is so much easier to park than the truck. Has done fine in the snow and ice; just need to slow down a little with the OEM all season tires. Will put dedicated snow tires on the Mazda next winter. Really like the center dial instead of a touch screen. Took me about 5 hours of driving to get comfortable with it. All the buttons and controls feel solid and are laid out in a easy to use and intuitive manner. Overall, a great car. Will see how the reliability is long term. It is not perfect, but I could not find the perfect car. A few nits. The cellular reception is worse for some reason with Apple Car Play than when the phone is just in regular use. For example, it can take a while and needs more bars of reception to load Pandora with Apple Car Play vs. just using the phone and no Apple-Car Play. The wireless charger seems to heat up and not always work, trying to figure out if it is my older phone or a real Mazda issue. The center console does not hold a lot (Oh ya, this is a subcompact car). Miss the Ford's ventilated front seats. I am adjusting to the Mazda’s engine power. It takes a little longer to get on the highway, pass going up mountain passes, and overall to get up to speed than the Ford F-150. Yet, it is no problem going over 11,000-foot mountain passes while exceeding the speed limit. The benefit is gas mileage right at or better than the EPA estimates. (got 38 mpg on one highway trip recently) My gas bill is almost cut in half from the truck. Extremely happy with the car and look forward to seeing how it holds up in the long term. Also, love the Deep Crystal Blue Mica exterior.

First SUV that a sports car driver will love.
I am a high performance sports car owner for years and recently helped my son pick out a small SUV for commuting and weekend fun. I was impressed in the ride and handling of the car and it is pretty quick for a SUV. it has the turbo 2.5 engine and it has more than enough power. The interior is very nicely done. The HUD (heads up display) is very well done and useful. Of course the interior space is not huge as it is a small 2 row SUV but for my single son it is perfect and has more than enough luggage room. His came with the gorgeous tricoat red paint but if we had the choice it would have been a different color as those paints are very hard to match and touch up. On a sports car or weekend special it would be fine but a bit of an extravagant paint. But when he got it a year ago we were in the pandemic and he needed to get a car so selections were limited. The all time AWD works very well and we are hoping for good reliability like Mazda has had for years. Not many cons.... we aren't a fan of the type of controls that use a rotating dial to select lots of menus to change things but the GPS does work well. Entertainment is fine. He has owned the car for nearly 2 years and no issues. Fuel economy is OK although with a turbo and a hard driving kid it is hard to keep off the throttle ;-) By the way one neat feature is it can use regular or premium fuel. If you opt for premium it recognizes it and give you some more hp. For commuting he just goes with the cheaper regular and it still has plenty of power. As I mentioned the interior is especially nice for a SUV. It has dark brown dash with creme perforated heated seats which are nice here in snow country. Seats are comfortable with power seats on drivers side and manual on passenger side which I prefer. Rear footroom is fine even for my son and I who are both 6'1". Headroom is fine too even with the powered sun roof That sun roof is the one thing that came with the car but we would have prefered to skip that option. I have owned other cars that came with sun roofs and found them to be a mostly useless thing. A sun roof will NOT give you the same outdoor feel as a convertible. It will get hot with it open and frankly who spends all their time looking at the sky ;-) We recently scheduled an oil change and general maintenance. The day we got there we found out that a major hack hit lots of dealers across the US.... and many brands.All the computers were unavailable so back to paper and pencils. We could tell the employes were upset at that but had a good attitude. We were pleased to find that they performed the service in about an hour while we waited.... so kudos for dealing with that.The dealership seems to be pretty good thus far in our two years of ownership.

My favorite car off all time
I am 72 years old and I have owned a lot of cars over the years. I have had a total of 3 Lexus, Nissan Murano, and Hyundai Tuscon most recently. None of them come close to my new CS 30 Turbo. For me, it is perfect with just a few things missing, like a power passenger seat, ventilated seats, and lane assist. UPDATE: I am a car guy and when I was putting 40-50K. miles a year I tended to trade in before the odometer hit triple digits, That means at least every 2 years for 30 years. I love the CX turbo. I like the fact that it has few "nanny" features. e.g. I hated the 2022 Hyundai Tuscon. It was over-engineered. The Mazda is one of few cars left that do require touch screen confusion to operate the radio or HVAC. I strongly believe touch screens are a dangerous distraction causing the drive to take eyes of the road while operating The CX-30 fits my needs. Tight turning circle, turbo power for pulling out onto traffic, and just enough room for everyday errands. Given this might not be big enough for some, especially for families, it perfectly fits my need fo.r fun transportation with the perfect blend of utility. I love it Update: 10/8/24 Still the best I've ever owned. Sure there are some ergonomic tweeks I would like to see in the new modern: Just recently noticed the front directional signals are down in the bumber. Why? That is a dumb idea. There should be more storage in the front, such as pockets on the side of the center counsel. But I still would buy it again and I haven't seen anything else I would choose over the CX 30 turbo.

MORK & MINDY
2023 CX-30 Carbon Edition. Best little 4dr/4passenger sports car. Only 300 miles so far but thoroughly impressed with quiet ride, responsive handling, attention to details. The infotainment system will take a bit to get accustomed to but worth it. Only thing not happy with but understand is the A/C shutting down under throttling up to pass. Overall for the price the quality far exceeds the cost. $30705.00 for a car that is worth far more one cannot go wrong. ZOOM ZOOM & NANU NANU!😁😁 UPDATE: We purchased this in August 2023. We were impressed from the first glance of how well it was put together. The interior in our Carbon Edition is not only equivalent to, but even better than much higher priced vehicles. It is responsive, nimble, and comfortable. Engine & transmission are well matched. I do use the sport mode for in town driving and save the regular drive mode for hwy driving. Still getting used to the infotainment system, but everything new takes time. On the moose scale of 1-10 it gets a solid 9.8. Nothing gets a perfect 10, but a 0.2 deduction will just make Mazda work a tad harder. It is not a subcompact SUV for basketball players or linemen. There is your deduction. Otherwise seriously recommend this vehicle for a sports car enthusiast who just needs a little extra space. It's a Miata with 4drs and a hatch.

Zippy compact SUV
A zippy sporty compact SUV. Great for empty nesters, young adults, and young couples. Good looking interior with a luxe feel inspite of the leatherette seats on this trim level. My car came with 18" Bridgestone Turenza tires. I get 33mpg traveling 75 to 80 mph on the interstate with this 191 horsepower engine. Putting it in sports mode, gives you a bump up when passing. I disagree with some reviews on the overall ride. I find it a smooth ride and the engine is really good and quiet at high speeds w/o a turbo. The negative is the upshifting from first into 4th gear is somewhat raspy/harsh as it tries to get there way too quickly. But younger drivers make like that racy sound but can annoy the rest of us. I think this lowers the fuel economy for in-town driving at 22 mpg. On the highway I'm getting as high as 33 mpg. Overall I enjoy the ride of this car with no complaints. The seats are very comfortable. At 5 ft 6. I really like the front seats. It has somewhat narrow entry for all doors but the seats are comfortable. Also, less leg room for those in the back. I don't consider it to seat five people. Instead I consider seating for four adults just fine but not for long drives. I like the fact that it actually does come with the compact spare. The back, it's one of the smallest areas that I've seen on compact SUVs. It will do, but I use up all the space getting groceries. One of the biggest complaints I hear about Mazda cars is the inability to have full touch screen capabilities. But coming from Honda cars and their complicated touch screen, I find Mazda a relief. I like navigating with the joystick like option. Within a day or so I was able to navigate through all the menus with no problem. Now I prefer no touch screen. If you want touch screen for Android Auto or Google Play, you'll have to go to a higher trim level for the 10-in screen. Another complaint I've heard is the automatic parking brake will engage when it's in park. Then you will have to manually release the parking brake each and every time. This is no longer the case with this 2024 model. The parking brake will engage but will automatically disengage once you shift into drive or reverse. This trim does have rain-sensing wipers, heated rear view mirrors, auto climate control, all the safety driving options, but not heated seats, no power seats, or turbo engine. The center console leaves much to be desired. It's small....accommodating a few things. There's only two cell phone ports in the whole vehicle located within the console which I found really odd. Mazda could do better. There is no 12 volt socket. The cup holders towards the front makes it awkward to place and retrieve cups. I had to buy new cups as my others were too high and interfered with the dash controls. Hopefully they will move the cup holders to the side of the gear shift rather than to the front of it. All in all I am enjoying my first Mazda ranking it 4 due to small rear cargo.

Nice mid-level SUV with some surprises...
Mazda found a great balance in cost by prioritizing features that customers care about and cutting costs on less 'important' things. Yes, the tires could be better, the infotainment could be more comprehensive, and engine cal could be smoother, but this vehicle legitimately competes with vehicles $15K more, and will appeal to those who want an AWD with a beautiful and quiet interior that promises to be as reliable as other Mazda products and possibly more reliable than a lot of the competition.

Little SUV - Big Value
We bought our first 2024 CX-30 in January to replace a disappointing 2024 Hyundai Elantra for our around-town car. Our touring car was a 2022 CX-5. After driving the 30 for several months we decided to replace the 5 with another 30. My wife and I are empty-nesters and almost all of our driving is without passangers. We do frequently travel so we purchased the roof cross bars and and Thule cargo box for our golf or skiing gear, depending on the destination. We recommend the Mazda all-season floor mat option as a better alternative to Weathertechs. The Mazda options are much easier to clean. Why the 30 over the 5? We really enjoyed the 5. It was great for towing my motorcycle and had significant cargo room. But I just enjoyed driving the 30 more and more. The 30 is quieter - less road noise, less wind noise. Entry and exit is just as easy as the 5 and at 79, that's really important. The interior is awesome for its class - lots of soft materials and no plastic squeaks. Visibility is excellent and there is a long list of safety features. The ride is superb and strikes a perfect balance between sporty and posh. It's simply both fun and comfortable to drive - a rare combination at the price point. Transmission gearing is excellent and the power train allows solid acceleration from stop lights. We live north of Syracuse and really appreciate the AWD given 5 months of potentially serious snow. My wife and I use the same front seat settings so we opted to forego power seats and save $$. Good for us but otherwise recommended. In 59 years of marriage we have purchased over 35 new cars for ourselves, children and soon, coming of age grandchildren. Among those, our first Mazda was the GLC (Great Little Car), the predecessor to the Mazda 3. We have had 2 Mazda 3s, 3 Mazda 5s, 1 Mazda CX-5 and now, 2 Mazda CX-30s. Every one has been trouble free. While we started with a GLC, now we have two GLSUVs.

Fantastic Drive, Itty Bitty Back Seat
Pros: The car drives and handles amazing. I drove two others cars in this class (The Subaru Crosstrek and the Honda HRV) and the Mada CX-30 blew them away. Fantastic acceleration and handling. The interior (Premium leather) was sleek and minimalist, which made the view through the windshield less obstructed or distracting. Cons: The storage, particularly compared to others in its class, leaves a lot to be desired. I am 5;10", and once I position the driver seat there was next to no space in the back seat. As a test, my 5'10" fiancee tried to sit behind me and was only able to fit with her legs pressed firmly against the driver seat. This proved to be the deal breaker in an otherwise fantastic automobile.

2023 Mazda CX-30--Excellent Vehicle
It's an excellent vehicle for the price and I am currently averaging 29 MPG in mostly city driving. The interior is made of top notch materials and feels very "Premium." I love the AWD, all the safety features, heads up display, interior and the way it drives. I have absolutely no cons with my Soul Red CX-30.
Mazda not Hyundai
My lease was coming due on my Hyundai Elantra. I was looking at the Hyundai Kona. The dealership also sold Mazda. I ended up with the Mazda CX-30. Both vechicle packages were in the 30 K range. Hyundai was front wheel drive while the Mazda was AWD. Also the Mazda interior was much nicer and more comfortable. Mazda had leatherette seats, the Hyundai cloth. Madza had power seats, the Hyundai did not. The Hyundai motor was 146 hp. and the Mazda 192 hp. The Hyundai had 17 inch tires and the Mazda 18 inch tires. I will state that the center knob to control the gadgets is a learning curve. Also, no heated mirrors on the Mazda is a bummer. Over all, the control of the road and ride was very good.

Cute ride but not for me
Purchased 2023 CX-30 GT turbo November 2022 and picked up January 10th 2023 Pros • It's a cute compact SUV with great handling and nice power. • Decent options for the price. Impressive package • Sharp looking • Great sound system • It handles well on curves and has nice acceleration. Cons • It is not for taller people. We are 5'10 and 6'5. • Cabin noise when driving • Key fob is not conducive to people who need glasses. You can't read the icons on the side. • No start button on key fob • Instrument scene/pan is non touch and I'm not a fan of the mouse pad on the centre console to manipulate your instrument panel. • Does not drive well in the snow with over 3 to 5 inches of accumulation. It hydroplanes even with AWD and decent snow tires. Too light. I thought of adding sand bags to the cargo area. • Poor location for cup holder in front. Tall cups don't fit in this awkward location • Blind spots in back while driving After driving through 2 decent snow storms in Baltimore, Ontario, Canada in the last 2 weeks, I decided this car is not for me. I have never had issues driving in snow of any accumulation until I drove this car. It's the first time, I actually felt nervous and not safe on my way to work. I'm 58 and a decent, confident and very capable female driver. I bought the Turbo with Awd which met my needs and expectations but not for living in the country in Canadian weather. I have now traded my Mazda CX30 for a new Jeep Cherokee on March 16th, 2023.
Fun, great looking car with field of view issues
I test drove one and it was comfortable and really nice looking in and out. More like a luxury car than a standard SUV. The turbo engine has a lot of pep and is fun to drive. However, there were significant issues with the field of vision: rear blind spots and rather short side windows give you a poor side view.

Impressed with this vehicle
Test drove both a CX-5 and CX-30, and found the CX-30 to be way smoother. The vehicle has a great handling, seats are comfortable and fuel economy is great. Nice interior and I’m totally happy with my car overall.
Best Car So Far
Purchased brand new a little over two weeks ago. It’s comfortable, quiet, responsive and fuel efficient. I got the non-turbo due to better reliability. Impressed that I was able to get 40 mpg on a highway drive. Looking forward to keeping this for a long time.

Perfect in turbo models despite more money.
My son is a mechanical engineer and was looking for a good peforming small SUV as his first car. I have experience in SCCA racing and have owned high end sports cars. I knew Mazda reputation and siggested he check the CX30 Turbo Premium version out. We were both impressed with the features, power, handling, and the interior. Here in Michigan the AWD is a great feature. While not interested in off road it hasn't failed to impress us and handles snow andice great. The hamdling indeed is very good which I expected We have no regrets and only one gripe. We ate still trying to figure how we can move windshield wiper from normal stop podition to high position. When a wiper stops in down position on a car it often gets trapped by ice and snow. That requires breaking the ice up which takes time. My other cars let me park the wipers in up position.... or I can pull the wipers away from the glass. The CX30 always stores wipers in low position even when turning off at key like other cars I have and you can't pull wipers away from glass as they hit the hood edge. That is my only con though. One big positive is the auto trans is NOT one of those constant velocity types which we hate. We also don't have any issues with the downshift... my Ford Express van is worse in that area.

More than I Bargained For
I did a lot of researching before purchasing this car but until I actually brought it home, I had no idea the true value of my purchase. My last three cars have been new but modest Honda’s. The last one was a fully loaded 2016 HRV. It was a great car with minimal problems, I had to replace it after colliding with a deer. It had heated seats, lane assist and a sunroof just to name a few upgrades. I expected about the same for the premium non turbo CX30. Boy was I wrong, I’ve had it three weeks and I’m still learning how to use all of the features. Yes, it’s a few thousand dollars more than the premium HRV but you just can’t beat what you get. The ride is so smooth I’m still in Awe. I can’t remember how many cars I’ve bought at this point but by far this is my best purchase to date.

Far more refined than the price would suggest
If you sat in this car, not knowing it was made in Mexico by a non-luxury brand, you would be shocked. The quality in every detail, the tiniest fit and finish consideration, all are outstanding. The soft-touch leather surfaces, substantial-feeling controls, the sleek lines of the minimalist interior are evocative of cars costing thousands more. The ride is comfortable, but not perfect. The steering is on the heavier side and allows you to feel in control (bumps are soaked up well), but it can be a touch noisy. However, that's relative to the class and price tag. It still excels ahead of its peers. Honda and Toyota interiors seem like bleep-bloop toys for college kids, overstuffed with distracting zooming light shows, when compared with the sophistication Mazda achieved at the price point. The Premium trim is loaded with very cool tech. It's not only interesting, but it's also *useful*. None of the bells and whistles feel like cheap gimmicks. The safety features are ingeniously integrated into the driver interface, most appreciably into the HUD projected onto the windshield. There has been much wailing and gnashing of teeth over Mazda's shuttle knob-based Infotainment system, but it took me all of 3 days to run through the entire system without stuttering or stopping to think. It does everything you need and it does it safely with minimal need to take your eyes off the road. The shuttle knob rests precisely where it needs to be, right in your palm. The smaller volume knob next to it so convenient, it's actually easier to use than the steering wheel volume buttons. The CX-30, however, will never get a 5-star rating from me for two reasons. The first is there are no USB ports for rear-seat passengers, and the vehicle has a total of only 2. What's worse, is if you want to use Android Auto or Apple CarPlay (I use Android Auto, and it is a miraculous bit of tech) your phone automatically eats up one of those USB ports. The front passenger and rear passengers are left to fight over the single remaining port. This is a nuisance of gargantuan proportions, having 2 kids, each with their own battery vampire tablets. There are ways around the problem (the car also has a 12V socket). However, there is no excuse for Mazda not to install a pair of USB ports for the rear passengers on the back of the center console... which is ALREADY wired for USB, the interior of the center console is where the USB ports are located. Mazda forces you into a CX-5 to get rear ports, which is just a crappy thing to do. It seems like a minor thing to complain about, but try having 2 kids on a long road trip fighting over a charger. The second complaint is Mazda yanked the upgraded Bose system from the Premium trim and just tossed a $440 credit at buyers. That is irritating, especially when you want to pony up for the Premium trim. I should not have to upgrade to a turbo model, especially when Mazda was capable of offering the stereo in the standard engine trim from the start, and double especially, as the turbo is catering to a different audience. The standard stereo is sufficient, but sounds boxy. I believe Pioneer custom-makes the Mazda Harmonic system speakers. I spent a long time experimenting with the car's exhaustive EQ settings, and ultimately the best setting still sounded boxy (as in, having a somewhat nasal, veiled characteristic - it's not as bad as you may interpreting me, but it's what I hear). That said, it does a nice job. Testing a variety of music, from metal, to new age, Europop, to classical, to rock, everything sounds adequate: not great, but not terrible. The soundstage does sound very wide, which made Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon particularly entertaining to hear, specifically the chimes at the beginning of "Time" and the cha-chings at the beginning of "Money." The audio effects ran free around my ears, ping-ponging with glee, as they were engineered to. Unless you are serious about your music, the standard system will impress you, at most, and be adequate, at least - I can't imagine anyone outright hating. Make sure you take the stereo for a test drive before you decide on the trim you want, if you fancy yourself an audiophile. In sum... extremely well designed, luxurious, and well mannered, and with gobs and gobs of useful tech and safety features. The CX-30 kills everything else in its class, in these categories. The lack of a pair of rear USB ports (when the location they would be placed is already wired for USB), and the unavailability of the premium system in the premium model are big cardinal sins. Big. BIG. Big cardinal sins. But the rest of the car is *that good* that I was able to overlook them. There are battery workarounds for the kids' tablets (but I shouldn't have to bother with workarounds) and once my ears adapted to the base stereo, it wasn't so bad (BTW, for some reason Led Zeppelin sounds perfect in this car, as if the 1990 Jimmy Page remasters were completed inside of this car... go figure). I can't give this car a 5-star just to send Mazda a message, but I still highly recommend the CX-30. The price bump from the Preferred to the Premium trim is very worthwhile, if you can swing it.

Great car, terrible service and support
I wanted this care for years and finally decided to make it my first brand new car 1 year ago. Since then, I've put 10,000 miles on it. While I love the car itself when it's functioning, it has never been what they sold me because it's always broken and, even though it has an extended warranty and an additional coverage plan, which I paid an extra $5k for, the dealerships' service centers are always booked months out and, if it ever does get fixed, it quickly develops new issues. If Mazda made service and support accessible, this would be a vastly different review. I'm not opposed to working on my own vehicle or having a different shop do it, but that shouldn't be necessary when a warranty and additional coverage plan is in place and 'supported' by a major brand like Mazda. It's incredibly disheartening that I can't have work that should be covered by the warranty done elsewhere when their service centers are unavailable. Truly, it breaks my heart to write this, and I'm very sad to be having this experience with a brand and vehicle I have held a lot of respect and admiration for for a sizeable portion of my life, especially when said experience was set to cost me $45k out of the gate, and is on its way to blowing that number out of the water.

Reliable great handling CUV and efficient!
I purchased my CX-30 GS at beginning of the year. What a fun great handling vehicle. The only complaint I had was the dealership delivering my vehicle with slightly overinflated tires which initially made the ride harder than it needed to be. Easy fix as I brought the pressures down from 40psi down to the manufacturer’s recommended level of 36psi.

Second time wasn't the charm
I ditched my oil burning, issue riddled 2021 CX30 GT Turbo for a 2024 Cx30 GT Turbo in hopes that Mazda would have worked out some of the new models growing pains by now. I was definitely mistaken. Firstly, mazda vert quietly REMOVED the accessory socket in the Canadian models. Why? Your guess is as good as mine, and a wasted expense on a dash cam that I can't use any longer unless i buy some sort of wiring harness to directly wire the power into my vehicle. That's a huge misstep Mazda. So far, 2 months in and 5800km on the ODO I've yet to have a fuel burning issue. Fingers crossed but my hope is dashed. In my 2021 i had an issue where the advanced keyless entry wouldn't unlock when placing your hand inside the door handle when the vehicle was wet. That's something they fixed but my 2024 also suspiciously has a similar issue with the door handle sporadically not unlocking when I stuff my hand in there like it should. Most of the time it's fine tho... I'm finding randomly without warning when I start the car, if it's on XM radio everything will turn on but no sound. No, not on mute. Trying to adjust the volume yields no result, trying to change the channel - same thing. I have to switch to FM radio and then back to XM to hear anything. My dealership already reset something but it is doing it again since. *sigh* There's an annoying brake squeak that no one can figure out where it's coming from. On delivery the interior trim panels on the pillar between the 1st and second row had white lines on them in the plastic as well as a wave pattern in the plastic as a result from the way they're molded. Mazda replaced them and although not as noticeable, both issues are still there and I'm incredibly disappointed. Spending this much money for this vehicle and it looks like Mazda's build quality is quickly lowering its standards to match that of Tesla. The vehicle still handles wonderfully and is amazingly fun to drive but Mazda is dropping the ball. Big time. Whoever said second time is the charm is an absolute liar. I also never received any survey from Mazda on this purchase experience either. I guess I complained so much about my 2021 that they added me to the blacklist lol. Anyways, Mazda needs to seriously slow the heck down and improve the small quality aspects of the vehicle. You're trying to be an upscale quasi-luxury brand? Well, the proof is in the pudding and unfortunately the package I bought turned out pretty damn lumpy.

SEATS TOO NARROW AND NO 12 VOLT OUTLET
Looks much better than it is. Very disappointed with narrow seats and the cherry on top is that it has no 12 Volt outlet. They even removed the wiring from the harness so that you cannot easily add one. I would like to meet the idiot who thought this was a good idea and the subsequent idiots who agreed with him or her.

Great value for the price
The professional reviews I read stated that the models above the Select were not worth the extra money. What's missing on the Select that I would have liked are a Power Lift Gate and a Seat Heater. I do not need or like a sun roof because I never use it and it may decrease the headroom.
Most uncomfortable car I ever drove!!!
Yes the car looks good and handles well, but is very uncomfortable the seats are hard and narrow, I only weigh 135 lbs and my behind barley fit , it’s loud and you feel every bump in the road! Gas mileage was disappointing for a new economy vehicle. I was told it was comprable to a Corolla, I did find that to be the case.

THE REAR SPEAKERS ARE JUST FOR SHOW!!!! No sound comes from them😭 This should be disclosed at sale!! All speakers are in the front which obviously makes for awful sound. I paid $30k for a car with no rear speakers?! Why on earth would they not put in rear speakers? I have never heard of a car with 2 rows of seats with no speakers in the back seat. It’s absurd and I am furious
Loaded with Safety Features
I love driving my 2023 Mazda CX-30. I feel much safer because of all the extra safety features like the blind spot warning lights on the side mirrors and in the images in the hologram on the windshield. And if I miss those, the moment I turn on my turn signal, there’s a chime if someone is too close to me. The information in the hologram in the windshield is very helpful because it shows the speed limit, my speed and notice of a stop sign ahead in addition to the symbols showing that someone is in my blind spot. If I use the internal navigation of the car, the turn by turn information is shown in the hologram as well. The hologram is not distracting because you can see through it. It is safer because you don’t have to take your eyes off the road to gather that information. The rear back up camera is great with a wide view and good sensors to alert me when a car or pedestrian is crossing my path. My only disappointment is that the engine takes more time to get up to speed from a stop. It’s just not that powerful, but once I reach cruising speed, it maintains it easily.

A lot of pep for a naturally aspirated engine. This car exceeds my expectations as far as performance. Interior materials and finish is much better the other manufacturers that I shopped for. I love my CX-30!
This car has it all—style, comfort, reliability. I have been in more expensive cars that did not have this level of luxury. I've had my Mazda for a year now after trading in my VW and I'm still in love. I can't find any flaws so far. I'm vigilant about maintenance because I want to keep this love affair going for a long, long time!

More bang for your buck!
Just drove this baby home from the dealership! RAY was Great from start to finish! Had no idea it had Auto start! Auto start! How great is that! The only thing that is a little odd for me is this auto brake! I'm old school...so that's really different...but nothing I can't deal with it! Love all the safety features! Didn't need a extremely big vehicle...so this fits the bill just right! AWD is a must! Interior is nice. Cup holders in right place this time! Lol. All at Flow were great! Hope this car serves me as wells as did my CX-3! Go check one out...at least take for a quick spin! If in Charlottesville ask for RAY Jordan.

When dealership delivered it to my house, new 2023 Cx-30 S SELECT AWD 2.5l DOHC 16V 4 cyl leatherette int 18" wheels. Manufactured with more plastic parts. Plastic exterior wheel well trim. Plastic interior door panels feel cheap. Center console cup holders in the worst location, up almost under the dash. Rear cargo deck lid made of weak flimsy pegboard material that will sag with any weight on it. Motor is weak and sluggish especially from a stopped position. Less than 90 miles and wish I didn't pay cash for it and could return it. But I'm "old school" and Nothing is made like it used to be!

I was given this as a loaner for a few days while my car was in the shop. I also have a 2011 Rav4 which makes a good comparison. I will agree that the seats are quite comfortable, much better than the Rav. There were many safety features built in and the backup camera worked well. You need the camera because of the blind spots. The ride was very smooth, but the steering and acceleration sluggish. This would be great on long trips, but trips around town were quite boring. It is not a "fun" car. It's only a cruiser despite it's good looks. The other issue I had was the touch screen. It had a lag time on many tasks, especially when using the manual controls. My loaner only had the standard stereo and it was quirky. The other controls for the climate control were also a little odd. I put on the defroster and the unit cranked up the intensity beyond what was needed. I turned off the defroster and it still was blowing air insanely. I had to manually turn it down even though I hadn't turned it up. The steering wheel controls weren't the most user friends so I had to reach to the unit to do all this. So, overall it was "meh". I'd take the handling and acceleration of my 13 year old Rav4 any day over this Mazda.

Disappointed...
Recently, I switched from a 2021 Mazda CX-30 Turbo Premium Plus to a 2024 Mazda CX-30 Turbo Premium Plus. Beautiful car in and out. Infotainment screen is MUCH better than the old one: bigger and clearer. Wireless Android avto and Car play is great convenience l. And touch screen for Android Auto is long wished! Driving is great! Highly recommend!

Great style, bad fit
I have had my 2023 car for over a year and I continue to notice flaws in the design: front side door too high for ATM use, blind spots on back sides due to protruded rear body style, no room in back seat for comfortable seating, not enough headroom for the driver (I am 5'2"), should have tinted top of windshield since visors are too short to block sun, and don't really trust the rear camera. Things I love: great tires, great drive, responsive engine, well-built body and classy interior (I have Carbon Edition). If the car was 4" longer, higher and wider, it would be more acceptable for me. The 2.5 ltr. engine and regular transmission are hard to find. That is why I bought it.

Best deal out there in its segment
My review is for the 2023 base model that I have had for almost a year. It’s the best 23k I have ever spent. Plenty of power and a hoot to drive. Fantastic on corners. Clean aesthetics. Downsides are the smaller cargo space and tighter rear seating, but that is not a problem for me. But the small gas tank is annoying. Still, would not think twice about buying this car again.

Great Car!
I had a 2021 CX-30 Turbo Premium Plus. The 2023 CX-30 Premium is plenty zippy with far better gas mileage: 31.2 vs 25.2 overall. Some of the features of the Turbo Premium Plus were nice, such as 360 mirror, rear crash prevention, auto dimming rear view mirror, and Home Link, but I don't miss them. I'm getting 340 miles on a tank of gas compared to 290 with the turbo.

Ok I own this 2023 turbo I have 57k at 49k my battery died very disappointed and now my heater it’s not working properly it works only when I start driving otherwise it blows cold air only. I previously owned a cx5 never gave me problems like this

Sweet Ride
The CX 30 Turbo Premium Plus we bought this week replaces a 2016 ILX we traded in. We love the ride, zippiness and responsiveness of the car. The tech takes some getting used to and doesn't always seem intuitive, but isn't that usually the case with new technology? We paid extra for the white color, which really blings with the black accents. Also added all weather mats and cargo tray with net.
