Outstanding Value
The car gets better gas mileage on the highway than the EPA estimates. It handles like a sports car. The only downsides are a small back seat and more road noise at 70 mph than I wish.

Bought mine new in 2013
I bought my 2013 mazda3 in August of 2013 with just over 500 miles on it. I'm the first owner of this car and I'm just not too impressed with it after putting over 50,000 miles on it so far. Sure, the styling is nice, and the gas mileage is wonderful, but I started having electrical problems with it within the year I bought it and the dealer said they couldn't do anything about it. The ride is pretty rough, and like several other cars I've owned, if someone in the back seat opens a window, it sounds like a helicopter is flying inside of your ears.

Econo Star 2.0 SkyActiv
These are more driver oriented than most of the competition and I'm extremely satisfied with the car, its driving dynamics and overall quality. Owned since new, now at 135k miles. Upgraded to 16x8 wheels and 225 aspect ratio tires which improved cornering but took away a little mpg. Prior to that 39 on Interstate was common. The only negative would be road noise. The Continental tires improved that but the car is still noisy as with most modern budget oriented cars today. Otherwise it has been very reliable and the ONLY item replaced to date, besides maintenance items has been the battery. Original brake pads, clutch, alternator, sensors, everything! This replaced my 2000 Protege with 247k miles and I'm a big Mazda fan so if you're considering one for yourself, I recommend driving one and if you like it, buy it.

Gas mileage cheat codes!
This car with the SkyActive technology gets completely unfair gas mileage. Unfair to the service stations because you won't be giving them money very often. I managed to drive from Wilson NC to Greenville NC using only 13 miles on the range on this car after fill up in Wilson NC! It's wonderful. The push button start, Bluetooth, push button keyless entry on the door handles and all the other features are incredible. Five stars!!! *Update* after owning the car now a little over two years the above is still true. It could use a bit more power in the engine. I really wish it had a turbo. At times when the need to power past another vehicle there is that noticeable delay as the engine takes time to rev up to the appropriate RPM in order to achieve max torque to give you that speed increase. I know its mpgs would suffer as a result so it’s probably better as is but I do wish it had more power. I would probably buy another vehicle with better power and keep this for commuting to work.
