Failed system update now car won’t work
Took my 2024 Nautilus in for the window recall and the service desk asked if we would like to have the update installed that Lincoln issued. Of course, might as well while the car is there. Well the royally messed up something. Now the center console (the heart of the vehicle) won’t work and they can’t figure it out. I’ve been in a loaner car for over a month waiting to get this simple update mess resolved. Will be contacting a lemon lawyer next. Loved the car before they screwed it up…wouldn’t trust the electrical system now even if they figure it out. My guess is that they fried the electrical system with the “update”.

Beyond disappointed
This car looks nice on the outside and is comfortable. That is where the positives end. The technology system is inefficient, unreliable, and archaic under the guise of high tech (ie you need to press three separate screen panels to change the way the vents blow). Most tech focuses on “less clicks”. This car focuses on as many clicks as possible and no actual way to do anything manually. The Bluetooth is completely unreliable especially if you have multiple drivers and phones. Connectivity is less than 50% of the time, and rarely without, again, clicking multiple things. I have never regretted a car more than this one. I had a Mercedes GLC before this and it was exponentially better. I would give zero stars to this car, if I could.

Nice ride but lot of issues
I have had the car for just about three months now. I love how it drives and handles but hate all the rattling and squeaking noises. The dashboard video screens work sometimes but other times they don’t. You can’t turn the radio off and keep it off. Sometimes everything works but most of the time there are issues. Lincoln seems not to care about helping their customers.

A very mixed bag of good and bad.
Got my Navigator back from the shop on Friday, so overall I spent ten days and just over 500 miles on the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus service loaner. Think of this write up as me being a shark and the boat just threw a bucket of bloody chum in the water. This is a vehicle that I really wanted to like, as I have been dealing with the sales rep on an order for one. The best thing about it is that it is a very nicely styled vehicle, modern and not ostentatious as luxury vehicles can sometimes get. The worst thing about it is where the designers put the brake and gas pedal - far off to the right. So much so that in order to press the gas I had to have my leg canted unnaturally to the far right which was VERY uncomfortable. Oftentimes I would press the brake as the brake pedal is where my foot wants to go from nearly fifty years of driving muscle memory on literally hundreds of different vehicles. Even the service writer and sales rep have said they hear this frequently. But, when I first saw it on their lot, in the Red Carpet color that I greatly prefer, I was immediately drawn to it and with having had so many vehicles of my own, it takes a lot for me to react that way to a vehicles appearance. Overall driving it does well, quite a bit of understeer however as it did not inspire confidence going around the I-295 North to I-10 West cloverleaf that my Navigator handles much better around. In the Nav, I regularly do 35-40 on that cloverleaf, with the Nautilus it didn't like going over 30 on the same road. Fuel economy according to the dash readouts appeared to be really good at 30.4 miles per gallon, but when I filled it and calculated the MPG reality was 26.94 MPG. 524 miles using 19.45 gallons Now EVERY Ford Motor Company vehicle I have had, the MPG indicator is off by about 1-1.5 MPG, but this one was reading 3.5 MPG optimistic. Back to driving it, this one was the standard 2.0L Ecoboost 4 cylinder without the Hybrid option, and it did very well when in traffic, never an issue at speed when I needed to accelerate, which it would do quickly. However, off the line from a stop at part throttle (standard acceleration) it tended to be rather rough and struggled as I think the transmission would shift too soon taking it out of its power band. I did test drive the Hybrid engine which has the CVT transmission and 50 more HP, and it did not stumble at low speed acceleration. On the highway the adaptive cruise control worked very well - far smoother than my Navigator does. Most of the time you could not feel when it would slow for traffic ahead unless some id10t cut right in front then it would be a noticeable reduction which is what it should do. However, as I said in my first impression - I HATE THAT BlueCruise and I finally managed to get it shut off, but I had to disable nearly all of the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) functions to do so. In this vehicle - I will rename them as Annoying Driver Assistance Systems as the Lane Centering system would also move the vehicle over to the right or left when passing or being passed by another vehicle, making it seem like you are wandering all over the road. Personally I think all these Assistance Systems are making people worse drivers as they rely too much on the technology and drive as if they are infallible. Back to on the road, absolutely no wind noise unlike some other vehicles I have recently evaluated which is really good, but you do get a lot more road noise in the cabin than what I expected for a vehicle that has an active noise control system. Plus, the vehicle has sound reducing glass, but again only on the windshield and front windows - so when a semi or redneck truck with the large mudder tires would start to pass I frequently thought that the rear side windows were slightly open as it was that noticeable in the cabin. I had the opportunity to drive it in a heavy rain for about twenty miles, I have to say that I was disappointed with the performance of the Michelin tires that were on this vehicle as they did not do very well in shedding water as I was frequently hydroplaning. The headlights also need improvement or proper adjustment as they do not light up very well down the road. Simply put - forget about seeing animals or even people alongside the road at night unless the high beams are on. The seats were extremely comfortable, having multiple adjustments available for the lower cushions as well as side bolsters and lumbar positioning. They also have a fantastic multi-mode massage function that both the driver and the front seat passenger can choose from. The only issue I found with the massage function is the very top fingers extend too far out when massaging in each mode. The audio system (when it was working as it was intermittent) was also fantastic. It had the Revel Ultima system with 28 speakers, and it was always clear even up to full volume. It is more of a concert hall type of system, so it does not always give the hard edge that some rock songs are meant for - especially in the bass department but even with that minor detraction it is a great sound system. Not sure why it would just cut out on occasion - maybe the chinese were spying on me at the time since it is a chinese built vehicle. 86% of the vehicle sourced in china. With that - I will go on to the very obvious areas that make one realize it is a cheap chinese product. The carpet in this vehicle is the cheapest I have ever seen in a vehicle. Even the base Kia Forte has better carpet than this $70k+ Lincoln. There is ZERO pile to it, and it looks to be the same junk they use in the cargo area. And the premium floor mats are even cheaper. When I first picked this up, I thought that they must be some cheap universal mats the service department puts in to their service loaners, but then I turned one over to vacuum and it was the OEM Lincoln mat. Heck, the under $20 cheap floor mat set from wallymart are much better than these were, as they were already showing wear from my boots in the 500 miles I had it. Speaking further on the subject of cheap materials, there is a phrase collision centers use when insurance companies specify low cost aftermarket panels to repair a vehicle and that phrase is Taiwan Tin because it is so thin and cheap. Sadly, I think the panels on this vehicle were made from the Taiwan Tin rejects, because when I went to wash off the July 4th firework residue, the roof and hood would deflect with just the wash mitt going over it. The interior layout is at first glance unusual, with a rectangular steering wheel and that full width dash that is right up under the windshield. I found that it works out well, since the gauges are set so that they act almost like a heads up display without being a HUD unit. And being able to choose what information I want (if any) on the right hand side was not a distraction like I initially thought it would be. The complaint I have on the setup is that the very center would not show your map/navigation unless you actually had a route set in. And another major issue I found - it would frequently not recognize my iPhone and CarPlay either in wireless, or the USB cable. So several times I had to delete my iphone and re-enable it. And as a final coup de gras was on the way back to the dealer, up on the dash very prominently came an ominous warning: Drive Control Fault,Service Required At least I found out that you can fit 39 bags of mulch inside one!!

Electronic and Brake Issues
The electronics in my 2024 Nautilus Reserve when utilizing the bluetooth for music through the vehicle has to be re-set consistently. I have been told multiple times there is a fix comming soon. Even after asoftware update, the electronics still require re-sets constantly. With 4K miles on my Nautilus the breaks grind to a halt! Lincoln told me it was a known issue after I purchased the vehicle and again, I heard a fix is comming soon. They have replaced the rear rotors and now have back ordered the front rotors I was told. Its embarassing when you stop and the vehicle grinds so loud, people in other cars look at you. To many little issues that should have been corrected before the car was available to sell. The vehicle has a light flapping sound when driving at low speeds that the dealership has not been able to figure out where the sound is comming from. Too much money for the issues and time my vehicle has spentin the shop!
