Used 2002 Lexus RX 300 Consumer Reviews
Amazing
I love this car! I had a 1987 Chevy Blazer for the past 7 years and now I know why people buy luxury cars. It has been the best experience ever driving this car and I can't imagine my life without it now. Very luxurious and comfortable. Its the perfect SUV.
I love this car, but...
Bought this car 4 months ago. It had 80k on odometer. Was in very good condition inside and out. Always garaged. People couldn't believe it was 18 years old. I drove it about 500 miles and discovered it had no oil showing on the dipstick. I was surprised as it did not seem to be burning oil. Put 2 qts in and headed to the local repair shop. They told me this model was notorious for consuming oil and had serviced many of these. Something to do with sludge buildup, valve covers and PVC valve. Well $1700 later the problem was fixed. I've since driven it over 2,000 miles and no loss of oil. Although I had to initially deal with the oil issue, I do truly love this car. It's a very solid, quiet and smooth riding vehicle. It's easy to get in and out of and has ample cargo space for me. I had 2 other issues needing repair: front door windows and door locks to the tune of $1200. As it's in such good condition cosmetically and rides so nice, I hope to be able enjoy this car for many years to come.

Absolutely Great Car
This car has not given me one single problem. I do have it maintained according to schedule and it has been the best vehicle I have ever owned.
Best Used Car I Ever Owned
Purchased my RX with 84K miles and a 100K warranty. Car was in spectacular condition and according to service records had been meticulously maintained. Dealership found a leaky rear axle seal under warranty, but had no other issues. The 90K maintenance was a bit pricey (timing belt, flushes, et. al.) but reasonable. A fuel modulator had to be replaced right after warranty expired for @ $700 parts & labor. Have not encountered the engine failures that others have reported. Fit, finish & features still solid at 115K and dealership has been just wonderful. Bought an '07 ES 350 two months ago and the trusty '02 RX has become our fun, weekender. This vehicle sold me on future Lexuses from now on!
Just keeps going
We drove this car until it hits 200,000 miles with only routine maintenance. The electronics started being a problem: remote door locks quit. Passenger window switch failed. Leak in rollover valve. But the engine and drivetrain just kept going!
