Used 2019 Kia Stinger Consumer Reviews
Good riddins BMW 550I
I traded in my BMW 550I on a new Stinger. Unreliability and monthly trips to the BMW service drive finally wore me down. Wasn't really sure the Stinger was the answer but boy am I glad I took the chance. This car smokes the Germans in every aspect. The most noticeable is that it is reliable. Thank you Kia! Performance, comfort, tech, drivability and styling beats them as well. This car is as good if not better than all the reviews said it was. FUN, FUN, FUN to drive. Only tip for Kia is to put an exhaust note on it to match the car's performance. I would buy another one tomorrow, in fact I can't wait until my lease is up so I can try a different color.

Best Grand Turismo for the money ever
Im normally a follow the herd type of guy when it comes to buying vehicles. I was coming out of a corvette so i wanted something sporty but did not want the back breaking drive of my current vehicle. Ive never had my head snap back with acceleration and be this comfortable. The first time I saw the stinger i thought it was the new Porsche Panamera. When i pulled over to take a look i was shocked that it was a Stinger. Next day i went to the the dealer and test drove. I purchaed on the spot. Could not belive you can get this much tech, performance, and value in the 30k price range and still torch a mustang or camero all day. There is a youtube video of the stinger embarrassing a mustang that has mods and the performance package. That mustang GT is well over 50k.

The overall most enjoyable car I have ever owned
First of all, the KIA Stinger is not a car for just anyone. To truly get the most from this car, and to realize its true value, one has to appreciate the fact that in this price range there is really no comparable cars. The twin turbo has unbelievable acceleration. The steering is butter smooth, and the ride is very smooth. to me, it is the ultimate combination of function and performance. I live in Montana, so the AWD was a must. We drive this car 12 months a year and it handles great in the snow and ice. 15K and we have had 0 problems. I was reluctant at first...until my first test drive. So, my advice is, schedule a test drive and see if it is what you're looking for. If near luxury and definite performance are on your list, I believe you will appreciate what KIA has done!
Do not buy the KIa Stinger
I traded in a 16 optima lease a year early to lease what I thought was my dream car. I bought at GT AWD on 12/18. Within a month the rear defroster unit shorted out and was supposedly fixed by the dealership where I bought the car. On 5/14 on my way into work the rear defroster shorted out again. I called the dealership to schedule another appointment that weekend to fix it. On my way home I smelled smoke coming from the back of the car. I immediately pulled over and opened the hatchback to see that the entire right side of the truck was on fire and flames shot out of the car and burned my hand. The car burned to the frame within 3 minutes. An investigation was done on the car with the NHTSA, fire investigators, Kia's engineers, and the dealership, Kia accepted responsibility for the cause of the fire which was a faulty rear defroster assembly unit. I spent well over 200 hours trying to get a response back from Kia. I was assigned a case manager who refused to reply to my emails or phone calls. Last night, Kia offer to me to make things right was my initial down payment on the lease only if I signed a gag order to never discuss what happened. They are trying to buy the car back from my insurance company saying they want to do more tests, but honestly they are trying to hide the fact that the only reason I am not dead is the fact I had a full tank of gas and there were no fumes to blow the car up with me in it. If I had not pulled over my 6 year old would have been in the back seat when the fire started. I have tried numerous time to escalate the issue and we are told my case worker at Kia doesn't have a boss and then they just hang up on me or my wife. This car has a fatal defect and Kia wont do anything until someone dies in this car! I have contacted several legal firms and I am also contacting every local news investigation team in the state to try and save peoples lives. At this point it not about the money, its Kia selling vehicles that they know are not safe and can kill people.

Not your kids kia
I bought an optima in 2011. Worried, but the car was excellent. 130k and time for something new. Almost bought another optima, but just not excited. Accudently saw stinger. Hate the name, almost didnt drive it. Glad I did. 3 weeks in, not a single complaint except the gt2 electronic hatch would have been nice. Nothing else different from my gt1 worth 5k more. More power than really useful with nice driving manners for everyday. Gas mileage sucks but oh well. Not a fan of the auto shutoff but really like the auto lock brake feature. 100k update. So far no problems. I still love this car. I usually change cars at about this mileage but there is nothing id rather have. It is comfortable, fast and practical. It holds a lot of stuff with the hatchback and I've done nothing but change oil, tires and brakes. No rattles and I'm amazed at how well the leather interior has held up, still almost like new. I wish they still made them is probably buy another.

Stung by the Stinger / My $48k Mistake
I had reservations about spending $48k on a Kia, but my wife wanted the car and I bought it for her. It has 16k miles on it and I am NOT impressed. 1. Depreciation is extreme. 2. I had to replace the front pads and rotors with aftermarket parts at 14k miles - the OEM pads are substandard and create hot spots on the rotors. I was lucky - you’ll see owners replacing the brakes at 6k miles on the owners’ forums. 3. The car went in to limp mode at 16k miles (going about 20 MPH on the highway) 2 days ago. The dealership it was towed to can find “nothing wrong”. Kia roadside assistance trip interruption information is hard to find in writing. The premium customer service number for Stinger and Cadenza owners has been less than responsive. I’ve offered to sell the car to the dealership it’s sitting at. They’ve declined my offer without even discussing price. I wonder why? I will be selling this mistake as soon as I can get it home (assuming it doesn’t break down again, even though the dealership can find nothing wrong). I’ve been stung by the Stinger, you will be too.

The sweet spot between performance and price
I purchased a 2019 Stinger GT1 upgrading from my Optima SX. Although the Optima is quick, the worst thing about my Optima is the turbo lag with hard acceleration. I’m happy to report that it is much better with the twin turbo in the Stinger. It handles even better than the Optima and the different drive modes are very effective in changing the characteristics of the Stinger. The negatives are that it’s a bit smaller than the Optima with smaller space for the back seat passengers and the visibility restricted especially with the back window. Overall a very fun and good looking car that has the most horsepower per dollar that I could find. I highly recommend it.

7,000 miles and new engine
Love the car, 2019 Stinger GTS. I only drive it during nice days, store it in doors in the winter, thus currently has 13,000 miles. I took it in for oil change at 7,000 miles. Tech noticed an oil leak. They had to pull the engine due to the leak was rear of engine. KIA decided to change the engine completely. The time it too was from end of may til end of July 2020. The bill to KIA was 24,000.00. I stored car Oct til March 2021 with close to 10k. After driving car for couple weeks it backfired and huge plume of smoke came out tail pipes, KIA had car additional 2 weeks to change turbos or gaskets. At 13,000 miles I took it in for service and engine light came on, this was mid august 2021. First they said knock sensor, that didnt fix the SEL so put in a call into Corporate KIA and decided it was the computer. Here it is mid September and still no car. I dont see any other complaints of this magnitude. This seems a little excessive for new car.
Loving my GT2
I've just hit 13,000 miles on my 2018 Kia Stinger GT2 AWD. It's so fun to drive! We call it the race car. You can leave it stock and have a ball with this car or do a couple inexpensive modifications and be at 4 seconds 0-60. Mine has a beautiful red leather interior, and black paint with a ceramic coating. It's so fun to own and turns heads everywhere it goes.
