Used 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Consumer Reviews
Gear issue
About 2 moths ago, i was driving to work when the car got stock on 3er gear, it was not shifting lower or higher, check engine when on, i stopped the car, turn it off, and it went back to normal but the check engine light was still on. The next day day i took it to the dealer, they took about 10 day to tell me that there was nothing wrong with the car, even though i even told them that it was doing hard shifting as well, and today it happened again, i took it to run a diagnostic and the code P0733 came on, called the dealer and they told me that the check engine light has to be on, but they want me to take the car next moth!! When the check engine light is already off!! How that gonna work?? That’s unacceptable, if a car owner tells u that his/her car is having an issue, u should take the word for it, cause no owner wants to take theirs car to the dealer for no reason!!

Disconnecting the negative battery cable
Our model is the 2019 Limited SUV Trail Rated with the 5.7 V8 engine. (There was no option in this review to choose this engine.) I researched Jeep for many months and ordered exactly what I wanted and we are very pleased. We are retired so don't use it every day which is why I modified and installed a battery disconnect switch. The battery is under the front passenger seat and would be very difficult to disconnect and reconnect the negative cable. After installing my modified switch, even with the front passenger seat moved forward and me behind it I can just slide my fingers under the battery cover and move the switch lever to disconnect the negative cable. I mention this because some people have their Jeep towed by their RV and they are instructed to disconnect the negative cable which without a switch it would be very inconvenient and a hassle. UPDATE 2.28.22 I no longer bother with the disconnect switch but try to use it every few days. At the beginning we had a problem where it would not shift to a higher gear when starting off from a stop but we haven't had that for a year. We took delivery 4.30.19 and only have about 8,500 miles 2.18.22. We use 89 octane in our 5.7 L engine. Glad we got the 5.7 L because I think the smaller engine is under powered unless you mostly do city driving. No comment on the dealer as ownership and staff has changed. Had to order our vehicle to get what I wanted. This thing is a lot more complicated and we still are unfamiliar with all of its bells and whistles. I am almost 84 and it is not as simple as a 1950s vehicle. We do like it very much and glad we bought when we did as I don't think things have changed much other than the price going up and maybe more difficult to get what you want. We have never had the opportunity yet to use its full capabilities. It was paid off last year as is the service contract now. It is trail rated so has skid plates, etc. I have waxed it several times and it is kept in an attached heated garage, which makes it easy to service. I changed to Mobile 1 synthetic oil at 5,000 miles and use Jeep filters. It is coming up on the third year of our new "20 year" plan. Will take it to a car wash next time out as we are now in below zero weather and my home winter usage of water jacks up my sewer charge all summer. Update: We now (8.18.23) have only 15,000 miles on the odometer. The only problem we have had was I left the driver’s door open overnight and it ran the battery down. My trickle charger would not charge it. I would think that it should have cut off the battery to prevent that. Getting a jump and driving the vehicle restored the battery. Maybe it shortened the battery life but I do not know. I still no longer use the disconnect switch. Other than that we have had no problems but I do need to rotate the tires. It still has not seen a dealer since taking delivery and I change my own oil and filters.

One of the best SUV's I have ever owned
I just purchased a certified 2019 Grand Cherokee Altitude in Jan. 2020. I absolutely love the vehicle. It looks awesome and it drives wonderfully. I find the ride to be relatively smooth, contrary to some other reviews I have read. The 3.6 V6 factory motor offers plenty of punch for driving on the Dallas area highways. The Jeep is also much quicker than my 2017 Ford Explorer, which is what I traded in for the Jeep. It doesn't have the torque and power of my old 2011 Grank Cherokee Overland, but there is a big difference in motors. But for a V-6, it will still get up and go. The interior and seats are beautiful and the finish in the cabin is very nice to me. All the controls are easily accessible. The large glass center console is easy to use. The stereo I have in the Altitude I bought is quite amazing and it really jams, with plenty of bass due to the sub-woofer. Overall It is comfortable and very fun to drive. If you are looking for an SUV, I'd highly recommend that you do yourself a favor and test drive one of these. Avg MPG right now for me is 19.4, and I have not had it on the highways much at all. The negative- No stereo control on the steering wheel, not that big of a deal really

Nice but no Rubicon
For 2019 Jeep has made some fantastic improvements, but they did not all carry over into the Grand Cherokee. I assumed the controls/ switches & back up camera of the Cherokee would be the same as on the Rubicon. No comparison.Cherokee sucks. Every function has to go via touch screen.Besides this, the Cherokee beats the other suv’S , especially the crap GM has.It is a good bang for the $$.It is plush ,but not gaudy.Drives well, comfterable, quite,&does what a suv is for. It’s rear wheel drive, with a real engine(not some pissy4cyl turbo that needs premium fuel), unless that’s what you want as an option. The jap crap is front wheel drive. OK for eco boxes, but not an suv.For the$$,I was impressed on my test drive, but as stated previous,it’s no Rubicon. But ,what is?Unless something better comes along,I’ll park one next to our Rubi for the wife.

Cheap
This $43,000.00 SUV is cheap, when you drive down the road and the doors lock you jump because it's so loud and tinny sounding, when you get in and out you bump your head or knock your hat off. My guy at Centennial leasing got me this and told me it was a awsome car, he no longer has my business after 18 years of business.
