Cherokee Limited V6 4x4

Aside from those who have had mechanical issues, I can't see any reasons to rag on this vehicle as mine has been nothing but a joy to drive. Though I am admittedly not crazy about the exterior appearance of the vehicle overall -- the pointy front fascia specifically, the experience from the drivers seat has been 5 star. The interior is upscale, the leather seats are very comfortable, the infotainment/Nav is more user friendly and as attractive as any other vehicle in the segment, and the backseat offers great space for a smaller SUV. The ride with the V6 is awesome -- It is cushy and smooth for an SUV so it feels luxurious but the cherokee has a great distinction of also handling tightly and being fun to drive (especially when using the "sport" mode). My EPA rating is 20/28 and with about 85% of my daily driving being city I am still able to average 23-24 miles per gallon -- and recently achieved 31 mpg on a 4 hour trip... way more than I had even hoped for in this age of vehicles typically not coming close to their EPA rating. From my experience I have to say that I highly recommend the Jeep Cherokee, an extremely versatile SUV. We are a family of three with an infant and a small dog --- this is a perfect vehicle for a small family.

Loving the Latitude

Initially purchased my 2015 Cherokee Latitude in mid July 2015 and have almost 3000 miles on the vehicle so far. Driving experience has been very good, the V6 has considerable power considering the weight, and it can really move when you need it to. Interior is very nice, especially the heated steering wheel and seats /w the Cold Weather package. Storage is a bit limited with the seats up, it's only a marginal improvement over a sedan in that regard. With the seats down the storage space is considerably better, especially with the folding passenger seat for larger items. There are a considerable number of hooks and clamps that make good use of what limited space there is. Lots of small cubby holes for glasses and items. Extra storage space under the front passenger seat in what I've started to call the 'smuggling compartment'. Leather covers the top dash nicely and the steering wheel is also leather, which is quite comfortable. I only have the standard cloth seats, but they are ergonomic and it's easy to drive longer distances more comfortably. I enjoy the little details, like the interior lighting for the cup holders, and the little plastic bumpers that make sure your mug doesn't rattle around when you are taking a turn. I have the ADII option, so fuel economy took a bit of a hit. I'm averaging about 25-28 combined. That more then acceptable for me, and it exceeds my prior vehicle. For anyone considering purchasing, I would strongly recommend getting the towing package if you go with the V6 engine. It more then doubles the towing capacity (2000 vs 4500 lbs), but it also includes auxiliary cooling for the engine and transmission that is very useful to have regardless if you are towing or not for a nominal extra cost. Repair-wise, I've had a variety of TSBs applied for software flashes to the transmission, power train, and body modules. I can report that the shifting is noticeably smoother now, and fuel economy is slightly improved. The most serious problem so far was an electrical gremlin related to a pinched wire in the front driver seat, but it was covered completely by warranty. Overall I would recommend this car for anyone who wants good 4x4 capability and towing in a vehicle that's comfortable to drive. UPDATE: Got an email reminder from Edmunds to update my review. After about 10 months of overship, my mileage stands at about 8500 miles. Aside from the wiring issue I mentioned in the earlier review, I've had no problems to date. As far as modifications go, I installed a pair of Whispbar crossbars on the roof, and the design is unobtrusive enough to not affect the sunroof visibility too much. Also put in some Navy Blue welting into parts of the interior dash to match the exterior paint, and it's a quite nice addition of color. Up until about a 3 weeks back, the vehicle was at around 5000 miles until a family situation developed and we ended up traveling all over the State of Wisconsin around 2000 miles in just a few weekends. Somewhere in all that driving (which was in very windy, wintery-mix early spring mess), the transmission completed its adaptive learning, and shifts have become essentially seamless and invisible. I've been happy enough with the vehicle that I purchased the FCA Maxcare Lifetime warranty, which doesn't have a mileage limit, and I plan to be driving it for years to come. A few design downsides continue to be the storage capacity, (which I'm mitigating with the crossbars and getting a trailer). The power locking fuel door is also a feature I could personally do without - the button to release the door is hidden quite effectively by the driver door controls and it took a few months of training to remember it. Also had an amusing time with the rear hatch dome light - brought a new washer home and it stretched the back storage capacity to its limit. Afterwords, the rear dome light stayed on regardless of the driver controls. It took a bit of experimentation to figure out that the dome light housing itself has a pressure switch built into it, that the washer box had tripped when I loaded it in. That said, it's a pleasure to drive, even long distances, and I'm in danger of falling asleep in the driver seat when the heating element kicks in. Fuel economy wise the adaptive 4x4 system dropped my winter mileage to about 21 mpg. Spring and summer driving averages about 26-28 mpg. Hoping to improve on that number this summer with the engine more seasoned and no longer in the break-in period.

I'm a few months into my lease with a 2015 Latitude V6 4WD, and I couldn't be happier with it. It's the smoothest, quietest, and most comfortable car I've ever had. I took it on a 500 mile road trip with 4 adults and a fully packed trunk and averaged 26mpg according to the trip computer. Not bad for a V6 with almost 300hp. I've read mixed reviews about the 9 speed transmission, and I don't know what all the complaints are about. I've had zero issues with mine. I'm really impressed with how quiet and smooth it drives. I feel like a lot of the bad reviews I've read are unwarranted and people just don't know how to drive their car, or they don't understand its features.

It's a LEMON - Needs new transmission at 5000 miles

Very disappointing experience! Leased the Jeep Cherokee 2015 without knowing there has been a history of transmission issues. Found that out after the car died on the highway. My Jeep had been skipping gears, running sluggish and hesitating but I never imagined it could be a problem with the transmission. I waited over 3 hours for the Chrysler Road Side Assistance to show up and tow me to the nearest dealer, it took 3 days to get an approved rental while they replace my transmission. My biggest regret is I still have 2 1/2 years on the lease.

Few month from having vehicle, transmission started leaking. Sent to shop, came back and transmission light was back and vehicle was totally un-drivable. Towed back to shop. 30 days later I got vehicle back and things started working again but not for long. 10 days passed and vehicle was shut-down and started making load noise. Towed back to shop for another transmission issue. this time, it got replaced. That also aside from side airbag recall. I'm filling Lemon case. Other issues i've experienced, when trying to slow down, vehicle keeps going or even speeds. This is a big safely issue. Thank god, I give enough time to slow down. Doesn't have 3000 on it. yet have all those problems.
