I bought this car in 2000, since, I have put close to 75000 miles on it. I am a traveling salesmen and I drive alot! At first I was a bit wary to get a Jaguar because of it's past track record In the 80s and early 90s but since they were bought out I decided to lease one for a year. After six months I broke my lease and purchased on. In 2001 my wife purchased one to. We have three kids and we love to go on road trips this car always has enough room. Take it from me I have owned a BMW, Cadillac, and an Infiniti The jaguar is by far the most reliable and beautiful. BY one TODAY
My rainy day car
I purchased a 2000-S with 24,000 miles from Budget. I figured that a car with a supposedly poor reputation would have been driven less than say a Ford Victoria.I had it appraised by a Jag dealer and there were assorted minor faults. Budget paid for the repairs totaling about $400. From reviews, I always use the brake pedal or the parking brake before moving from park to drive. So far, no problems, a delight to drive, seafoam color (a rare one). Mileage is poor, but with a car like this why complain. When I want to be pampered, it's the S type. Listening to the beat of the car is so important for any car. Do this with the Jag and it will serve you well.
Perfect choice
Bought the car with 60,000 miles. The car was in mint condition. GPS, voice activation controls, cd player, all the extras worked great like they were advertised. Car turns heads everywhere. All women say it's their dream car. V8 is strong, suspension a little tight, but it has the sports package which might explain it. Only mechanical problems was the thermostat stuck closed causing it to overheat.
Two-year road test
I purchased the V8 version with the sport package in platinum because it was love at first sight. I was a bit leary of owning a new model in its first year. I expected better from the transmission (I didn't know it was made in Cincinnati). I had some problems like an oil leak, faulty stereo amplifier, and transmission lock-up. The trunk is a bit small. The dashboard rattles way too much.
Drive it with care as a quality product
My first two tanks of gas, city 19.4, highway 26.Very enjoyable.Window fell out, dealer repairing at no charge. Was surprised but not dismayed. Noticed from other reviews same problem with window falling out.Mileage predicated on driving sensible.Quality of fit and finish excellent. Positive steering. Engine checked out with flying colors with my mechanic on electronic equipment.Felt that if properly maintained should have long life.My mechanic severly critical out manner most people maintain vehicles. Have always been nut at maintainence. Will do same here.Eyecatching and distinctive. Trunk needs to be a little larger.Limited space for luggage (wife!)
