I did the research. My Sonata is everything and more that I expected. Very nicely engineered. The body is beautifule and it is quiet and solid. My only digs are the front seats could be a little better and my MPG (90% city) is only at 23. I highly recommend this car. I paid only $18,100 and I got the 4 wheel disc brakes, the auto and the fog lamps!

Build quality is excellent, interior is well laid-out but materials are less classy than some competitors. Ride is excellent, though not particularly exciting. Roominess, fuel economy, and reliability/warranty make this car a fantastic value! But I'll confess that I'm glad it's my wife's car and not mine -- partly because the lack of excitement to drive, partly because at 6'2", I can't straighten out my legs behind the wheel. Still, amazing that we bought it for less than my 2000 Saturn LS1 when new - especially with all those standard safety features.

Comfort is so so

I have owned my car for 17 months, bought is at 13k miles, now at 38,500k. So far it's been very reliable except for one issue. It has a tendency to cut out or have minor hesitation when going up hills. Dealership says nothing is wrong, not hard coding. I use the 100% gas (non ethanol)and it seems to help. The front seats lack comfort. My back quickly starts hurting on trips, I must use a small pillow for the lumbar area. Have already had the following replaced: Driver side door lock, sun visor and window assembly.

I am a former Honda Accord and Nissan Maxima (3) owner, so my standards are high. The Sonata is not as "cushy" as my former cars, but it measures up very nicely when one examines the overall look, fit and feel of the car, the warranty, the standard features, and then the price one pays. This has excellent value. I bought mine for $3000 less than the MSRP. I am pleased with the handling and overall comfort. The 4-cylinder engine has plenty of power. I especially like the Shiftronic feature, having owned manual transmission vehicles for more than 25 years. I can shift down when descending steep hills in my community. If the reliability of the car meets expectations, I'll be a winner!

I waited until I had 2,500 miles on the vehicle to form a better opinion. I am still extremely pleased with the purchase. I received an incredible deal! The car has outstanding quality! Very quiet ride and strong acceleration. You will think you're in a V6. Base model has plenty of standard features, including CD-MP3 player, side curtain airbags, electronic stability control, rear defroster, side mirror heater, and auto stick shift. I would buy this car again and highly recommend it!
