2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 Consumer Reviews

Just oooo!
This car has umph and more umph. I am enjoying my commute more than I thought I ever could. The cabin is extraordinarily spacious and comfortable. In "sports" mode, this car handles as well as my 1991 Miata of days gone by. The features are too numerous to begin to list, but the cooling seats are absolutely magical. My hubby and I sat in the back seat for about an hour just chatting and star gazing. The longer I have it and the more I drive my Ioniq 5 limited, the more I enjoy it.

Found the right EV !
after driving lots and lots of EV’s over the last few years, my wife finally found her car, the Hyundai Ionic5. It charges fast, has a fresh style, comfortable and very nice interior with loads of legroom for the growing grandkids in the backseat

A Sub-Sub Compact SUV, Poor Controls - Software
If you just look at the bed of the vehicle from the back it looks to have a decent amount of space. HOWEVER, the lift gate/roof is so slanted you can't even get a decent sized grocery bag anywhere near the end. If you want to put in 2 suitcases be prepared to lower the seats. The firmware/software looks like it was written by high school students. This isn't apparent until you try to do something. For instance, I tried to use one iPhone phone key and one Android one (mixed marriage). It can't be done. You'd need to try really, really hard to be quite so incompetent. I also own a Tesla. Tesla went way overboard putting every function on the screen. Hyundai did the opposite. Everything has a button. While I LIKE having a lot of options and ease access, this isn't it. There are a lot of settings that ARE saved with the driver profile. However, some important ones are not. For instance true one pedal driving (NOT what Hyundai calls it) needs to be set every time you start the car. This is dangerous because the car won't drive like you expect an EV to. Really, Hyundai? Do you really need to huge paddles on the steering wheel to customize regenerative braking? It is a very strange design decision.. IF I could return this car I would. I have less than 40 miles on it. I'd take a $5,000 loss if only I could get rid of it.

ev ioniq 5 charging cannot be done at home
I recently leased an ioniq 5 ev the car is great inside but the problem is not enough chargers in Vegas 20% of the chargers are restricted 50% of the chargers that could be used are slow chargers which takes an average of 4 hours to fully charge the vehicle the 30% fast charges available are too full need to wait an hour or two to get to one and then if there is not anyone else that do not respect the people in line and steals the service. This is not counting that almost in each station there is two or more units that do not work. This is a real problem - To be able to install a charger at home I need to spend $7,000 in upgrades. To use the regular charger it takes two or three full days of charging to get to maybe 70%
