We replaced a Honda Oddessy with the Hyundai Elantra Touring. It is far more pleasurable to drive than the Honda was and much quieter on the turnpike. It handles great, very smooth on the turnpike. Feels like a much bigger car than it is. Excellent visibility. The headlights (particularly high beams) are superb. Excellent brakes. The car has plenty of power and it is no problem to keep up with traffic on the expressways. The Hyundai warranty for 5 yrs/60 K miles is a big selling feature of this car. I am averaging 26.5 mpg mostly on Orlando's traffic clogged streets. Great sound system and love being able to just plug in a flash drive with my CD's on it.

We bought this because CR is in love with the vehicle. The car (as the i-30 elsewhere in the world) has garnered all kinds of awards over the past 3 years. Compared to my Pontiac Vibe (Corolla), the ET has better fit and finish, excellent visibility, transmission, and is unbelievably quiet. The dash layout is simple and attractive, the Bluetooth is voice interactive and a must have, and the air conditioner is far superior to any other car I have ever seen. The ET is much more comfortable for rear passengers than the new Tucsan. If the reliability holds up as CR thinks it will, I'll be buying Korean products instead of Japanese from now on. Buying this car is a no brainer.

Great Price Value

Have owned 5 Toyotas and 2 Hondas, Hyundai beats both on price for features. Several consumer publications state the reliability is on par to Toyota and Honda. Replaced an 02 Corolla with 157,000 miles with Elantra Touring. Potential buyers should note the Touring is based on a Hyundai i30 sold in Germany, not the Elantra sedan sold in US. The ride is firmer and the steering tighter. The Touring feels more like a Civic than a Corolla. Got a great deal and service from Hyundai of St. Augustine, FL. No typical car dealer tactics.

I like it!

Looked at vw sportswagen, mazda3 and civic. Sportswagen was several thousand more and for what exactly? Civic had not enough space. Drove Mazda3 hatch and touring back to back several times (once in the rain) ultimately no contest -materials/space/dash layout were superior to the mazda3 (IMO). And I own a Mazda5! The ET has a very slightly softer ride but its a good thing! OTD for less than 20K. I do not find road noise or engine noise to be noticeable. It's relative to what you are used too and not the over-riding factor in this purchase. There really isn't anything on the market to compare. Looks better in my garage than in pics online! Hoping it holds up over time like my CRV.

Love at First Sight

I drove a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe for 3 years and fell in love with Hyundai quality and service but I needed a more fuel efficient smaller car. Since I carry items on a regular basis I needed a hathback or wagon. The 2010 Elantra Touring filled the bill. I was skeptical about the horsepower but this car really moves. I had 2002 and 2005 BMW 3 series and they have nothing over this car. Solidly built (no noise going over train tracks) and corners great. Looks great and has a great warranty. I call it a win win win deal!
