Used 2014 Hyundai Elantra Coupe Consumer Reviews
I waited for this car - it was worth it.
I was in the market to replace my 13 year old car but wanted a coupe not a 4 door sedan. None of the coupes currently on the market "wowed" me in terms of style. I find the Honda couple to be too generic looking and Scion Coupe to be too much of a "young boy's" car. I tested both. Neither compared to the ride of the Elantra Coupe. I saw this car at the auto show, I decided to wait for it to be available. While I waited OVER a year, I'm glad I did. It's a nicely styled car that doesn't feel small on the inside, rides nice and is fuel efficient. IT IS NOT a sports car - it doesn't pretend to be either. It's a sporty styled two-door sedan. But it's performance is that of a sedan.
Even better than I expected
This is my 5th Hyundai and I have learned to expect my cars to be excellent in every way. This Elantra coupe has even surprised me with the quality. The first week I owned it my wife and I went on a 2500 mile road trip to the mountains of North Carolina. This car is so quiet we didn't even have to turn up the volume of the radio while driving the interstate at 80 mph, and we don't ever play it loud. When we drove the curvy mountain roads we were both amazed at how well it handled through the curves, like it was on rails. The engine is so quiet there were times when we were stopped in traffic I had to look at the tach to see if it was really running. Hyundai has a winner, again. 38 mpg so far

Just perfect
I have owned my Elantra coupe for 3 months now and have over 3000 miles on it. I just love this car, Hyundai has outdone themselves again. My wife and I took the Elantra on a road trip over the Christmas holiday and on the interstates, driving between 75 and 80 most of the time we got over 39 MPG. The car is so quiet at interstate speed we don't even have to turn up the volume on the radio. The car handles like a dream, rides as good as my wife's 2011 Sonata and is even quieter. in 3 months I have not found a single thing I would change about this car. Since 2004 we have owned a Santa Fe, 2 Sonatas, a Tiburon and now an Elantra and I have never experienced any problems. This is one is the A+
Not as expected
I bought this vehicle expecting wonderful gas mileage and a reliable vehicle. Considering it is less than a year old, reliability is not an issue. It looks nice, drives decently, is comfortable, and I can't complain too much based on the price. My gas mileage during the winter is around 20mpg. 25mpg if I am lucky. If you play music off of your phone via Bluetooth, you have to crank up both volumes all the way to hear it decently (no, I don't blast my ears off). When it is the slightest bit cold the front window fogs! During the spring, fall, and winter I always have to have heat on the front window so it doesn't fog up on me. Lastly, there is no spare tire.
A Hidden Gem
Not sure why there are many bad reviews for this car, but for me this car has been great so far in the half a year I've been driving it. I have the stick shift version and is quite fun to drive, especially with a Magnaflow muffler to give it a "sporty" sound. It almost feels like driving an Acura due to its nice interior design, and doesn't look cheap like the Honda Civic. It has so many technological features (USB port, Bluetooth, Moonroof, controls on the streeting, etc), and a good looking exterior design that it's hard to believe its price. Definitely a bang for your buck. The MPG, eventhough it's not as the EPA estimates, it's still quite good. I am getting an average of 35 MPG
A Nice Design With Problems
This car is very fuel efficient. I am averaging mid-30MPG City and low-40MPG Hwy. The styling is great. My only disappointment in the styling department was no rear wing. The styling in the SE (with spoiler and blackout grill) is not as nice as the GS. I solved my wing issue by ordering a Kia Forte Koup wing through my Hyundai dealer (same company). Fun to drive, but other problems I have encountered make my whole experience trying. At 5k miles my steering rack failed. The leather on the SE is bad. Luckily there is a long warranty. However, when I needed parts, in one case I had to wait 3 months because it's hard to get parts for the coupe. I would recommend the GS not the SE.

Nice car for the money
I have only had my car a few days but I'm very happy with it. I bought it for the looks, warranty and gas mileage...it is very quiet and handles great. Large trunk but no spare...
Odometer gas mileage
My Elantra has 20,000 miles on it. I am pretty satisfied with it. I drive mostly highway miles 60-65 mph about 25 miles each way with ECO on. I get between 33-36 miles mpg. However the readout of mpg is consistently almost exactly 10% above what I get. I believe it is designed this way to get you to think it is doing better than it really is. I wonder if this is causing some of the disagreement on mileage (shown gas mileage versus actual. I wonder what other owners are seeing.
My sporty yet responsible purchase!
I have had my Hyundai Elantra Coupe GS for over a year now and still wouldn't trade it for anything (except a Nismo but ya know, that's beside the point.) The breaks are always reliable even in Florida's heavy rains. The acceleration is awesome even when in Eco Mode. I can sit in the car for long trips without my back hurting. The Bluetooth hooks up easily to my iPhone and makes driving and talking SO much easier because I can keep both hands on the wheel. My car came with aftermarket backup sensors but it is still really easy to maneuver without them. The handling is awesome no matter what the weather conditions are like. The only maintenance I've had to do to the car is regular oil changes, tires and an occasional air filter. I get between 27 -30 in the city and that is with occasionally driving like a bat outta hell. I don't do much highway driving but I could only imagine how awesome it would be. It is also easy to get in and out of because to door opening is so big. All in all this car is great and I would highly recommend it.

Loaded for less
Most comfortable and well-appointed car I’ve ever owned, for a low price. Suspension is excellent, engine quiet. Interior is in excellent condition, in spite of over 100k miles on the odometer. Exterior shoes no sign of rest, not even in the undercarriage, after nearly six years and 105k miles on salty, northern, winter roads. Love this car, would buy again.

Small yet sporty
A good reliable car with nice seat warmers. Good mileage and handling. Suited well for 2 adults and 2 children. Back seat a bit cramped for adults. Back seat folds down for oversize cargo.

My Hyundai makes a happy day !
This car exceeds expectations in surprising ways. The 2.0 is powerful for this light coupe. I'm confused why Hyundai only made it 2 years and counted on the Veloster to take over.

Elantra Coupe - The Car that meets expectations!
I bought the Elantra Coupe hoping to get great gas mileage. I have not been disappointed. Highway mileage is between 35-38. City mileage with the AC on is more like 25-26. My car is loaded with all of the nice stuff, leather interior, nav system, etc. Seats are very comfortable. knee space is much better than Ford Focus. The car
Shop elsewhere
Awful handling especially on bumpy roads and snow. Cramped, two very bad blind spots. Go elsewhere
Don't Buy
These cars look nice, and are still being sold as gas saving cars. They are not unless you only drive on the Highway.
Great little car
Good value and great transportation for a single or couple. Too small for a family car, but for cost effective transport, my wife and i are verry happy.

Geranium Red
Then amenities of the tech package in the COUPE had me sold over newer models in its class. I have a drivetrain warranty on an 7 year old car too. Sorry, guys when the gas price rockets like the forth of July, but I'm secure in my Geranium Red firecracker xxxx

issues for days
I bought my 2013 elantra with 90xxx miles 3ish years ago, when i bought it ( i didn't know) there were wiring issues. My horn would honk randomly.. just driving down the street. we had to take the fuse out so it wouldn't happen and none of the buttons on the right side of the steering wheel would work like cruise control and trip ect. however those would randomly turn on and flash. yes the cruise control would randomly turn on and set it to whatever i was driving at the time. my husband looked it up and said wiring issues were common. Its so low to the ground that i hit 2 raccoons on separate occasions( i live in BFE ) and completely ruined my bumper. The ac\ heat fan thing has went out 2 in those 2 years and im about to buy my third fan bc the 2ed one barely worked 2 weeks. Its also starting to burn too much oil. there is also no place for a spare tire. OTHER then those things i like the car. its comfortable, quiet, good on gas, i like the way it looks, good trunk space. Im at 143xxx miles right now i drive 45 mins on the interstate to and from work. so its had some miles put on it but its time for a new car. i feel like it could just fall apart at any time.
