I love my hrv! It looks small from outside, but is bigger inside. I wish it had more trunk space but I rarely use it anyway. I love the magic backseats. I got EX and it’s like WHOA! It’s everything!!! I’m a 4’11” plump little thing so it’s very short people friendly and my mom is tall and very plump and she has plenty of room. I easily got my niece’s car seat in the back and she had room. I love the technology ! The screen is big!!! Basically it’s a baby crv. It’s very sporty and moves around fast. I got good mileage on the interstate and I love that right camera! The camera looks better than my nephew’s Lexus camera imaging. The interior is very nice, I don’t have lumbar support but the seats are so plush and cozy and made to make you feel good while sitting and driving a long time. Wish it had power seats, it doesn’t so technology gets four stars because of it. Love the apple car play it is very easy to use. I find the screen interface easy to use and instructions will help you they come up on the screen when you first set it up. I like all of the extras that came with it like the stability control and that thing that pulls you back in line when you beer off the road. I don’t get road Josie it’s a quiet ride. It handles very well no quick jerking or wobbling, it handles bumps well too. It zips on the interstate. It’s so cute! I’m so glad I chose it! I love satellite radio it comes with that! The interior is very nice it doesn’t look or feel cheap. You can never go wrong with HRV.

Love the AWD option!

2020 Honda HR-V Sport 4dr SUV AWD (1.8L 4cyl CVT)

Fuel goes LONG way with this awd model! Handles great in snow! The backseat folds down as well as up and rear seat can be split at same time so its a great asset for space! The downside, lacks moon/sun roof, flimsy body, has an active recall and not even a year old...also I do miss my 14yr old car when I plug a phone in to charger because it only charges while running but that is standard feature of all newer models I have been informed by the millennial hipsters in the suburbs.

This car is easy to maneuver and it’s so quiet you don’t even know is running half the time. Compared to my Nissan rogue there is no comparison. I will never own a Nissan again basically because the transmission died within five years and Ison refused to replace it or repair it. I am very very satisfied with my Honda and I will be buying a Honda probably for the rest of my life. The interior is roomy, and there’s plenty of cargo space in the truck. Drives great. Can’t ask for anything more! Awesome vehicle that did not cost me an arm and a leg.

2020 Honda HR-V EX

GK, 09/01/2020
2020 Honda HR-V EX 4dr SUV AWD (1.8L 4cyl CVT)

My new Honda HR-V is my next leased vehicle from Honda, had Civic before. The only reason I chose HR-V as I need a higher car, and didn't want to switch to other makers, as I have been very happy with Honda for 9 years. If you looking to buy, I would say, look for CR-V. If you are interested in lease, go with HR-V. Drive nice, even it only has141 hps. Good fuel economy. Everything works fine, starting from a/c control and touch screen. My pros: great cargo, "magic" seats, fuel economy, smooth turns. My cons: underpower, have to manually open and close tailgate, would be great to have 3 USB ports on the front, not just two.

Went from CR-V to HR-V

Gina Z., 09/07/2020
2020 Honda HR-V EX 4dr SUV AWD (1.8L 4cyl CVT)
13 of 13 people found this review helpful

For the past 15 years I have leased the CR-V and always loved them except when they took away the folding tray in between the two front seats-made it easy to jump in the back to tend to a crabby toddler. Anyhow times changed and I was looking for a smaller monthly payment and didn’t need the extra space of the CR-V. I drove the HRV and found I loved it just as much with perhaps it having just a little less horsepower than my previous CRV. But the great mpg and lower price won me over. With the EX AWD I was able to get all the features I had in my CRV with the exception of remote start which I had installed later to keep my monthly payment within budget. I debated on the Accord but couldn’t get used to the feeling of “sitting on the ground”. I have a short drive to work but many hills and needed the awd. The magic seats are awesome and I’ve been able to fit most anything. I like my dog to be crated while driving and there’s plenty of room in the back for his crate. I was sold on that cosmic orange color too! Can confidently say I’ll be sticking with the HRV in the future.

Good, not great

2020 Honda HR-V EX-L 4dr SUV (1.8L 4cyl CVT)

I bought it as a city and commuter car. Small enough to park, great cargo space with A very cool variety of interior configurations. I am stashed a washing machine inside, no prob. But it isn’t as tight as my older Accord. I can hear air whistling inside with all windows closed. The onboard navigation system is a joke. It is very unintuitive with a ridiculous number of windows you have to pass through and get directions to a destination 2,000 miles away on the “Search Nearby” feature. Pick up is ok, not good enough to write home about. Mileage is fair, around 26-27mpg. CVT paddles are Just plain stupid. Not enough interior storage for small items and you have to practically stand on your head to see and reach the USB and other charging ports, hidden below the console, near the floor. Drives fine, seat warmers are good. A decent car, not great, but also not a million dollars.

2 words... magic seats

Cindy, 04/25/2020

I LOVE the magic seats in the Honda HRV. It gives this small all wheel drive SUV more usable cargo space then even larger SUV’s. I can put he awesome seat bottoms up and let the dog sit on the floor or fold the seats glad and put her in a crate... but my dog isn’t going in a crate so being able to lay on the flat floor will be best for her. She will be fairly well protected in the case of having to break short or an accident, because their isn’t too much room but yet enough for her to be comfortable. Yes dog person and glad the car will work well for her. On top of that with all the options of the magic seats I should be able to haul just about anything from my daughters skis to furniture for college when the time comes. I just love this reasonably priced small SUV. Personally I don’t like real big cars, so this is perfect for me.

Purchased the AWD HR-V EX a couple of years ago after having a CR-V for 10 years. Found it to be very roomy and plenty of power. Touch screen is big and easy to navigate. Very comfortable ride and would highly recommend it if you want a mini style CR-V.

Solid Car - Great Value for the Money

We decided the size of the CR-V better met our needs. We did a test drive of both the HR-V and CR-V, both 2020 models. There were claims that the HR-V didn't accelerate well. However, we found It had plenty of "oomph" to safely enter freeways. Comfortable seats, nice set of options even on the base model. A surprising amount of legroom in the rear seats. Even when the driver and passenger had enough legroom, I with my 6ft 3in height was comfortable in the rear. I would recommend HR-V for anyone looking for something a bit smaller, higher MPG than CR-V. Both are solid, high quality vehicles that are reasonably priced. Because of 2 great experiences with CR-V’s, we opted to buy the CR-V —- that’s the only reason.

Based on Fit, so it's great for local trips

I had a Honda Fit that was super convenient. The biggest problem with these cars is its construction. Cheap. I would have hoped with the AWD version you could use it for road trips. The problem though is that the FIT/HRV build has horrible noise insulation. Stupid US marketeers think that anyone who buys a small car just wants cheap. But there are plenty of us that just want fuel efficiency and convenience. If they priced the vehicle a little higher they could provide better noise insulation. I am addicted to the magic seats and the FIT/HRV are the only models that have it. But I'm really torn over the car's cheap construction...

reaching into the compartment between seats that has a cover may wrench your shoulder it is so far back (and that's with the seat all the way back). you may break a nail reaching down to undo your seat belt. the suspension is stiff, you will feel all the bumps. medium mileage. roomy interior, comfy seats. comes without a cover for the cargo area (chintzy!) - extra add-on cost. better than what i was driving, but not an aspirational vehicle.

I love the looks of my new HRV. In spite of pathetic acceleration (not a fan of the CVT), no DVD player and few frills, it is a very attractive vehicle. It has Apple CarPlay which makes up for not having navigation. Happy change from my other car that only gets 22 MPG on premium gas. Rated 4 because of transmission but 5 otherwise because of name brand.

I tested three small crossovers SUV'S. Kona, Mazda CX3, and Honda HRV. Honda HRV was my favorite by far. More room, better trunk capacity, and a softer ride. The only thing I agree with is motor is a little underpowered. But overall I love my HRV!

Bought my HRV a year ago today, October 4th, 2019. Needed something to drive in the winter, and for general running around in. Being my first Honda vehicle in 26 years, and having loved my old Prelude, I had high hopes, and also thought it would be well made, as I read about the so called legendary Honda quality all the time. What a huge disappointment the HRV has been. First vehicle I've owned in the past two decades, I truly don't like. LOUD LOUD LOUD!!! Everything about this vehicle is loud, suspension, squeaks, wind noise, glove box rattle I had to take it in 3 times for before they fixed it. I asked them to check the window and door seals as well, the hwy wind noise is insanely loud. The suspension works about as well as my old 1977 Ford F250. Under powered, and then on top of it that horrible transmission. The seat belt is so sensitive it frequently locks up while I am just trying to pull it out to put it on. Had it two weeks and a wiper arm flew off while driving down the hwy. No I don't mean just the rubber wiper blade flew off, the entire arm was gone. I pulled over, and went walking back looking for it, but never did find it. I was refused warranty, they said it was because the arm was gone, so they had ' no proof it failed, since they can't see it'. Of course they couldn't see it, because it was gone. Radio sound quality is not even half of that in my Ram 3500, or Mustang, both of which are much better made than my Honda is. Planning to trade it in soon on a Kia, after last week test driving one, and liking it much more than my Honda.

Low quality, bad acceleration

Disappointed Honda Owner, 07/23/2021

I’ve had this car for a few months, and I was disappointed to discover that I cannot accelerate quickly, especially on the highway, without shifting gears from “drive” to “sport”. The gasket/molding around my front windshield also started cracking when my car was a few months old and had less than 2000 miles. Honda will not replace it under their bumper to bumper warranty, and claims that it was due to damage, which could include the sun. If the materials of a car cannot sit outside without being damaged, I think we have an issue.

If you look at the hrv sport make sure you have a checklist I traded in my civic for the hrv and I’m not happy you lose a lot of room in the center console which is a bummer. The digital speedometer gone. The i button which showed you the mileage left on gas gone and the percentage of oil gone so disappointing. I had push start and keyless entry it’s gone with this truck if you like that feature I wouldn’t recommend to switch back to key. I’m so missing the they keyless entry. I had the right side camera this truck doesn’t have it missing that big time. There’s no light in sun visor. So not happy with this truck I which there was some type of exchange policy or return policy cause I would take my civic back in a heart beat. I feel like the salesman lied to me and it’s disappointing. I tried to get in contact for almost a week and never got a return call.

I am obsessed with my 2020 HR-V Sport. Very roomy inside. I love how flat the back seats fold down, giving me space for big shopping trips (I was able to fit a freezer, 50” tv and groceries all in one go. Lots of great safety features and standard luxuries. Turns on a dime and is small enough to fit into any parking space. It was definitely worth it to go with the Sport over the lower trim levels due to all the extras and AWD, I was really impressed at how well it handles in the snow. Very happy!

Bought a used 2020 touring AWD model and really love it. yes the acceleration is slow but the AWD is great on the mountain roads I take to work and when I put the back seats down, they fold completely flat for my pets and there is plenty of room for them. I finally have safety features for the first time and I especially like the braking- it's really good. It has good long term predicted reliability and I expect to own it for at least 10 years. Nice leatherette seats and privacy glass. Too bad they aren't making the touring trim anymore. I had to choose the EXL for the model in the review but the car I have is the Touring AWD.

I have had Hondas for over 40 years and have always loved them. The HRV has the same things I love about Hondas - handles great, feels well built, so many seating controls, great fuel efficiency, very roomy and comfortable inside, love the AWD. But this HRV has been to the shop three times, and it has 13,600 miles, a little over two years old. After owning it 2 months, the back up camera was dangling. At 2,000 miles and the beginning of the awful Texas heat, I was getting warnings about the fuel emissions system not working, and the electric parking break not working. Although I didn't notice any difference in the parking brake. Took it in and they couldn't find anything wrong with it, so they "rebooted the computer" and the messages were gone. They also fixed the camera. All under warranty. At 8,000 miles the air conditioner went out. Took it in and they said a rock went through the condensor. Cost me $650. What is on every road in the country? ROCKS! Seems like a design issue to me! At the beginning of the second year summer in the awful Texas heat, got the same messages about the emissions and parking break systems. Took it in and they found nothing wrong, so they "deleted the messages". Something is faulty here! Now, the two front electric windows are making that knocking sound when you roll them up too far. Can't ever Not do that! Haven't taken it in yet, but I've had it with this car - not keeping it. Reliability gets a zero, even though nothing has kept me from driving it! I live 35 miles from the dealership, and each time they give me a courtesy car. So it's not as bad as it could be. I'm retired now and I'm able to take it in, but if I was having to take off work to take it to the dealership, I would be livid!

Honda Makes a Great Vehicle

The crossover is an excellent option. I see people complaining about the pickup it has but just throw it into Sport and you are jamming. The only issue I have had so far is the AC unit does not blow ice cold air on really hot days. I have not had the dealership look at this yet so I am not sure if this is just how the unit is or something needs to be done/charged. Other than that, it is a great vehicle.
