Disappointed
First Honda I have owned and am I disappointed. The ride is unacceptable in the northeast in the winter, you cannot even drink a coffee, not that there is good cup holder to put it in. The car wanders all over the freeway, it needs constant correction. It feels like the wind is blowing the car around when there is none. The headlights flicker randomly. The throttle raises just a little bit as you come to a stop. I am always stomping on the brake. The light indicator is behind the steering wheel. There is an annoying rattle in the dashboard in front of the steering wheel which goes away with the heater on. I have 3 tires leaking 6 to 10 lbs of air a month.I never noticed these on the demo model.
Extremely fun, with some flaws.
The Fit is a tremendously fun car to drive. Power is more than adequate and the fuel economy is good (at least with the manual). I am fairly tall (6'1") and the fit is very comfortable with the seat in the rear-most position. Anyone taller would have a problem. The ride is stiff, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. The drivers seat is a bit too hard as well. The only significant drawback is the very stiff ride. This has got the firmest suspension of any car I've ever driven.

fan of the Fit
My wife researched vehicles for two years before trading in her 01 Durango for the Fit Sport, and likes it better than any car she's had. Fuel economy is great-avg. 36 btw. TX and Vegas, driving 80-85. Rides fine, walks a bit. Better in town than hwy, only complaint-hard to get blonde hair out of upholstery. Took it camping, and were able to fit all our gear in it. Fun to drive, but I've had to fix the front panel several times because she keeps backing over the curb on her way out of the driveway. Wish it had true intermittent wipers, but great sound system.
She's our "Hissy" Fit
We've had "Hissy" for 3 weeks and she's our favorite little girl. Averaged 43 MPG on her 1st tankful with small town SC driving. Love everything about "Hissy" including the mileage, great little stereo sound for a 4 speaker base, fun to drive 5 speed MT, rock solid handling and feel, all of the safety air bags surrounding both front and back seat occupants, the 10 cup holders (8 in the front, 2 in the back), the voluminous cavern for hauling with the rear seats in the "magic" down mode, and best of all, knowing that Honda has built a fantastic hatchback with big time reliability. Love!
Loud & Rusty
Just returned a Chevy Cruze which I had for two weeks while my 2009 Fit Sport was in the body shop. Who has a car that rusts these day? I do, that's who. The rust is around the gas filler door! How could that happen? Perhaps the explanation is the assembly process and the manner in which the panel was attached at the factory, speculation on my part. I've never heard a Chevy Cruse referred to as a luxury car before but I do so now. The Cruze is substantial, solid and much quieter than my Fit. I am sorry to see the rental go and my Fit return. I got spoiled. I replaced the Honda Fit with a Chevy Equinox Diesel, best decision I've made in a long time. I am impressed by the quality and can understand why Chevy sells so many. Mileage with the Equinox is around 33 around town and 47 with mostly highway driving, I'm impressed.
