Purchased to tow a travel trailer. Very comfortable and smoothest ride of all the SUVs we test drove. Tows without issue 7000+ lbs. Rated for 8500. I like the v4 mode but wished it would do that while idle. MPG is ok considering what it is.. I get about 9mpg with trailer and 15-20mpg without it. Flaws: Like all Yukon/Tahoe/Cadillac models, the taillights have thin connections which break easily, so expect to replace the entire taillight or 3rd part repair (Or check youtube for common fixes).

Let’s start off with how grateful I am to own one of the best years of GMC Yukon, the 2002 model which has never given me any problems nor left me and child stranded anywhere. When I say the 02 Yukon has been from VA to PA, VA to Chicago through the mountains and down to Alabama and back to VA several times over the years. I want to thank God for that. It’s still running with over 242k on the dash and very reliable. Now fast forward to this hunk of junk 2016 Yukon that I purchased in March with 129k on the dash. So boom, I only had the truck 3 months, my mechanic checked the vehicle before I bought it, the car fax checked out with NFCU. So, I thought I was good to go lol. June, I decide to take a road trip down south to Alabama and Tennessee, cool. I get to Tennessee the truck starts acting janky, no lights on the dash indicating warnings, nothing. I leave Tennessee headed to Alabama, the truck stalls on me in traffic in the mountains of Birmingham, damn near rolled back onto a cop car. You got it, terrified I am, because this truck is too nice and newer to me for it to be leaving me stranded miles away from VA. Some very nice guy helped me get the vehicle to a shop nearby where they verified it was the transmission. I’m crying cause how the heck was I supposed to get home now? Fast forward, I eventually get a tow from Bham to a town called Sylacauga through USAA. Then I had to secure another tow on my own, with the place being so rural, that tow to my family house cost me 400 bucks. Moving forward I eventually secured another tow from my family house to the GMC dealership in VA Beach for another whopping 1500 bucks. Yup, pocketbook is complaining. I have the diagnosis done,199.00 for that. The technician diagnosed the transmission needed to be replaced. So the transmission with the repairs cost me $6,279.15 to get my truck back. Yup, my pocketbook is hiding 😶🌫️ at this point. So while going through this process, I was in contact with GM. They heard my story, apologized lol, basically said that since the vehicle was out of warranty the only thing they could do was help cost assist 10% of my total repair. So they finally sent a reimbursement check of 627.91 lol to help with what? All the money I’m out of with this janky throwed together truck during manufacturing. I feel like GM has to do better when making these vehicles, stand by your brand GM. We as consumers are paying too much for brand new, certified pre owned vehicles for us to be coughing out money like this. It’s tacky and you all at GM a know that your newer models are trash and that’s where they need to go, straight to the dumpster. I don’t feel safe going on another road trip in this truck out of fears for be stranded again and having to reach deep in my pocketbook. With that being said I honestly can say I WILL NOT be purchasing another GM in the future. I’m sorry you lost me as a loyal YUKON a driver. I’m telling everybody don’t buy these trucks. Ok, now bye 👋🏽

Bought my 2016 GMC Yukon Denali a few years ago. I have a 2010 Yukon XL that my wife and I both love, so we were excited to upgrade to a more feature rich year. The 2010 has a great ride and is a fantastic road trip vehicle. Pretty quickly realized the 2016 has problems. The ride is terrible, especially on cement roadways. Asphalt is not as bad but still not as smooth as the 2010. The suspension system is billed as like riding on a cloud but in actuality is terrible, stiff, seemingly feeling every tiny pebble in the road. GM knows this is a problem but they don't care... buyer beware. So one star removed for the terrible ride. Both tail lights have now gone out on me. This is a known problem for this model. GMC doesn't care. Now, if I could just replace a bulb I wouldn't be bothered by this. But it is an integrated LED brake tail light/break light subassembly that has to be fully replaced...to the tune of $300 plus, each. Some places are charging $450 per unit and up just for the part. I have seen others quoted $800 per light for the GM dealer to replace them. This is a crime. How could they screw this up so thoroughly and then not stand by their product. Based on the 2010 Yukon XL I was a fan of GM. Now I will not by another product given their cavalier attitude. They've screwed up both the tail light and suspension system thoroughly. Another star removed for the gross negligence on the tail light. I removed one more star due to the fact when you open the back hatch things roll out the back because of the slope of cargo area. Not as big as the first two issues, but still a nuisance. I want to love this car. It has many nice features - a great sound system, lane assist, adaptive cruise control, cooling seats, blind spot alerts, assisted braking, good gas mileage for this type of car with econ mode dropping down to 4 cylinders when 8 aren't needed. Many nice features. But the negligence on GMs part to leave customers hanging on two expensive major known problematic issues has jaded me against this car and company for good. Buyer beware if you are considering a used GMC Yukon. UPDATE: Bought used in 2020. Terrible Terrible no good ride. Now the engine has catastrophic failure at 97000 miles. Needs to be replaced for $15000+. Dealership says I'm not alone. They replace a lot of engines on the 2016 (6.2 Liter). Besides the terrible quality engine the starter motor failed at 87K miles and had to replace both tail lights at 93K miles. The tail lights are a subassembly that are very expensive. If you are thinking about 2016 Yukon think again. You don't want this trouble and loss of money.

I had problems with the radio and a couple with the engine. I'd be wary of a Canadian delivered vehicle like this one.

Get rid of it before your warranty is up

I purchased my vehicle brand new, I have 130k miles on it and the motor went bad. The engine valve springs went bad about a year ago and now the piston has went bad. This is not a quality product. Please beware and do not buy or get rid of before the warranty is up
