Used 2005 Ford Freestyle Consumer Reviews
Excellent commuter, the power is fine.
I purchased my Freestyle in November 2004. Since then I have driven it over 6,000 miles, mostly in Atlanta traffic. As a commuter the Freestyle has provided excellent comfort, power, and gas mileage. I keep a detailed log of my gas mileage and average over 20 mpg in an urban / suburban commute of 45 miles per day. The lowest mileage to date was 19.4 mpg on a really bad week, with a high of 25 mpg on a interstate trip to North Carolina. In my opinion the comments about the Freestyle being low on power are incorrect. The 3.0 and CVT do an excellent job keeping the car going and provide plenty of power for passing.
Freestyle fun 4 all
We shopped for a safe vehicle. One that was reliable and fun to drive. Looked real hard at a Volvo but decided the Ford Freestyle was the best bargain for our money. AWD is great and what a smooth shift through auto transmission, makes for an overall fun car/SUV to drive.
No more vans since I found the Freestyle
I like this vehicle, It is good alternative to a minivan or SUV. The visibility is good and with the adjustable drivers seat it makes it easy for even a height challenged person to drive comfortably. It has a smooth ride and it is very easy to drive. You have to keep an eye on your how fast you are going because with the smooth CVT transmission you can easily exceed the speed limit. The leg room is quite good even in the third seat. And the ability to fold down the seats makes this a all purpose vehicle. Good work Ford; I hope this vehicle is a real success. I am glad I waited to purchase my new vehicle until I found the Freestyle.
Surprisingly Good & Reliable
Got this car a a second vehicle (other car a Z4) and have been surprised at how comfortable and easy to drive it is - a good compromise between an SUV and a wagon. It is simple and the fuel efficiency has been ranging in the low to mid 20s. The new gear system is smooth and once you get use to it, it make the ride smooth and comfortable. The flexibility of the seating arrangement (1-7) is great and easy to change. We were lucky to get this vehicle before a snow storm that left 16 inches behind and the Freestyle did great in the snow. The sound system is good and the temperature control system is easy to operate. Very happy so far with it.
Ford Freestyle ... a standout vehicle
We have been buying Fords for a number of year; mostly Explorers. It was time to trade our older Explorer for another vehicle and we were looking at the Escape. This vehicle was not to our liking because of the hand brake appearance and location. It looked like a covered umbrella. After test driving the Freestyle; we bought one. It is a delight to drive. A smooth driving transmission, good safety features, nice appearance, and it has most of the 'bells and whistles' we wanted. This is, without any doubt, a great automobile. We recommend it highly to families or individuals who want a well engineered vehicle. What I do not understand is why Ford does not advertise this fine auto.
