Ford-500 plus for a family vehicle

I've enjoyed my 500 very much! I travel 150-200 miles a day. The comfort and ride are excellent. I intended on purchasing a Mustang but due to limited back seat space (I have 2 children - 13 and 6), I really needed more room. Salesman suggested I look at the 500. I fell in love when I sat in the vehicle. I am VERY satisfied with my purchase. Window tinting and a spoiler give it a nice sporty look.

Traded in a Marquis on impulse one winter day when wheel spin would not let me out of the driveway. The Ford 500 seemed to offer a solution and after a test drive out of a frozen lot decided this was my car. Four wheel drive, constant velocity transmission, interior comfort a dream! Took it out on the highway after a heavy snow fall and below zero. This car went where I pointed it over icy conditions and was forgiving. Five months later I still love it. A bonus: I am spending much less on gas and to date have averaged 23 mpg. A good, solid, safe vehicle.

Problems with console in dash

Overall, I really enjoy the Five Hundred, but there are some problems. The lid on the console in the dash bubbles in the heat/sun. I've seen it on 6 of 8 new Five Hundreds on the sales lot at the dealership. I've had mine replaced 3 times in as many months. I've also had to have the transmission fixed after only 5,000 miles. The vehicle hasn't been the same since. If Ford can work out the kinks, this car will by FAR be an incredible vehicle!

I've owned the car for five months. The car handles well in adverse weather. The gas mileage is good. I don't find the car to be fun or real comfortable. The car is functional and I feel safe in it. I don't think I will own it for the life of the vehicle. Sound system leaves a lot to be desired.
