I stumbled onto the Novato Ford lot to rule out purchasing the vehicle and 2 hours later I owned it. The dealership was exceptional and the Escape the brought me to test drive screamed at me to purchase it. I'm sure it was one of the best purchases I've ever made and every day I own it I think how lucky I am. Coming cross country was such a blast. I experienced all the usual weather patterns for the summer and the vehicle never even flinched. It handles so much like a car on the street and I find it comforting to know that I can take it off road when necessary. So now I'm a Ford man and very happy.

Ford Escape, a good buy?

I bought my Escape after having my daughter. I needed a bigger car & a car that was good in the snow. I liked the look of the Escape so I looked into it & ended up buying one. I am pleased with my purchase. I did however have some problems with it. A couple months after buying it, the gears wouldn't shift properly. I brought it in & the computer needed to be updated. Then my tires needed to be replaced. Overall, the Escape is a nice, reliable car, but if you are looking for a car that is great on gas, this may not be the car for you.

Fun to Drive

I've been real happy with my decision to buy a 2003 Ford Escape XLT. It is so fun to drive, I make up excuses to go to town! I had a 2001 Honda CRV before, and this Escape is much more roomier & luxurious than the utilitarian feel of the CRV. Plus the Escape is one of the few small SUV's with NO BULKY SPARE TIRE hanging off the rear of it, and as a result, it only has a 16 gallon fuel tank. A sacrifice I was willing to live with.

Overall, the Ford Escape is a great buy for the money. After totalling my Explorer in '02, I was hesitant to go to a smaller vehicle but have been extremely happy for over a year now. I feel safe and confident in the Escape... sitting up higher in traffic than a car (for visibility reasons) with a lot of interior room.
