the reason I scaled down from a full size SUV (EXPEDITION) is that my kids are driving their own vehicles and I don't have the need for such a large cargo area. For what I need this EDGE provides it all, in addition it is more gasoline economic.

Traded my Escape for an EDGE

Traded my "thirsty" Lincoln SUV for an Escape because of gas mileage. Escape with the 2.0 Eco-Boost was very powerful and a lot of fun with gas mileage that was great. I'm a big guy (6'3" 260 lbs) and the Escape was just too small, because we travel a lot. At 80k, I had never had the car to the dealer except for oil changes and routine maintenance. I don't care what the manual says, I change the oil every 4-4500 miles. I was planning to get an Explorer, but a friend had an Edge that he really liked, and he had traded in a much more expensive SUV that he said just didn't live up to the hype. I drove an Edge and I really liked it. It is loaded, except for a sun roof, and was still thousands under an Explorer with the same equipment. Lots of room, solid and quiet. Even with the AWD, I am getting 22/29. I can live with that. Now what I DON'T like: Unless you have really good eyesight, the message center is unreadable. The font is just too small and in two small boxes. Also, you have to choose what is in the boxes. If you choose the digital speedometer, it is large and easy to read, but I would have preferred it being in the center of the cluster where the actual speedometer is. Absolutely love "lane centering" and "adaptive cruise control," but again I pretty much do this from memory because of the small font on the info screen. Unless you are an old guy like me, this probably won't be a problem. I only have 12k on it, but no problems so far. OOPS! almost forgot,,,I am going to the dealer because the washer on the rear camera lens isn't working. Checked the manual, and couldn't find anything on it. Bye the way, I am no fan of this manual.
