I've had my 2018 Ford EcoSport for over a year now and I love it,handles great, gas mileage isn't bad.The all wheel is outstanding in the snow I would have to say the best I've ever had it sure beats my jeep I had for sure.

Don't run out of gas without a specific funnel.

Just tried to put some of our reserve fuel in the Queens eco spit using a good quality gas can, no joy, matter of fact the fuel port spit out gas all over the side of the car. So apparently some really genius engineer came up with what he thought was a better mouse trap and totally redesigned the fuel port to where you cannot screw off a cap but just stick the pump nozzle in the hole. This works great at the pump but really totally 100% sux when trying to use a gas can. I'm sure the word safety was used when pushing this super duper idea.. but it's really anything but safe.. oh and it appears to need a special tool for removal. What a surprise, like my old Dad used to say, "they'd screw up a box of cornflakes." Major fail Ford... Major fail.

I purchased a 2018 Ford Ecosport SE 4WD. It has the 2.0 liter engine. The vehicle has been more than I expected. It has been trouble free, but is also fun to drive and a breeze to maneuver and park. Mileage has averaged around 26mpg regardless of conditions. Thanks Ford!

Tiny Car and Severely Under Powered

I drive a 2018 EcoSport SE with the Convenience Package and the 2.0 engine and 4WD. This is my first car and still my current car. I just graduated from high school and used this to commute to school everyday which was a 5 minute drive away from my house. Now I’ll be using it to commute to college everyday which is a 30 minute commute each way. As a first car I shouldn’t be complaining. Mine has nice options, including a sunroof Blind-Spot Monitoring System, Parking Sensors, Keyless Entry, Ambient Lighting, Heated Seats, and a Heated Steering Wheel along with the upgraded screen with Navigation and Apple CarPlay. I had the option between this EcoSport and a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Latitude 4x4. I’ve owned my EcoSport for a year now and since the month I got it a year ago, I’ve always wished that I would have gotten the Jeep Cherokee instead. The EcoSport is way too under powered and lacks good fuel economy. I only ever average 23mpg. The 4-cylinder is way too loud and the 6-speed automatic transmission is clunky and doesn’t ever know what gear it should be in. Throttle tuning is also weird and inconsistent. I would not recommend an EcoSport to anyone who lives in snowy areas of the country either. I live in upstate New York and the EcoSport has a hard time finding good traction in snowy conditions making for a not so reassuring experience when driving. Overall I don’t recommend this vehicle. Do yourself a favor and Just Get An Escape. Update: A month ago (January 2025) my check engine light came on unexpectedly. Took it to my local Ford dealer and they diagnosed the issue as an emissions system issue. The year prior (2024) when the light came on, it was a “purge valve” issue where it would be stuck open during times of operation when it didn’t need to be open. This time (2025) it was a hose and gas line issue that was not covered under my Ford extended warranty. It was going to cost $500 before labor. As a result, I have moved on from my EcoSport and now drive a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport Big Bend. I am very happy with my Bronco Sport. It gets great gas mileage and is wonderful in the snow with all season 3 peak rated snow tires. Looking forward to having my Bronco Sport for a while.
