2013 Chevrolet Volt 4dr Hatchback (gas/electric hybrid DD)

First of all, the Volt is a blast to drive. As my first GM vehicle in 20 years, I was impressed. I was very happy. Then charge light warning came on and it was back to dealership, then the charge door and again the charge door. The bearing in front driver's side went, had it replaced and then replaced again. A lot of trips to the dealership and missing work. Live in Michigan and charger was plugged into an external outlet.Well with the nasty weather we are having moisture must have got in the connection and fried my charging cord. GM is saying it is 100% fault of plug and will not cover. $475.00 to get new charger. There goes my gas savings and my GM loyalty I am done after this lease.

I traded my BMW X3 for the Volt. I am thoroughly impressed with the technology and engineering of this vehicle. My wife and I primarily use this for around town driving with the occasional road trip. I love the fact that you will essentially not use any gas in city driving as long as you stay below the 38 mile range - so no C02 or carbon monoxide emissions at all. The car is comfortable (I am 6'3") and very quiet. The standard features are excellent. Chevrolet hit a home run with this car and I love buying American again.

Volt is the answer for a 24K mi/yr commuter

The Volt is an incredibly comfortable, fun and responsive vehicle. Pound-for-pound - $-for-$ - the Volt is the future of drivetrains. I commute 78 mi/day in S.W. Ohio. Hills, weather and road speed affect battery/gas consumption. I avg 39mi/charge. Own a V8 '05 Audi -- the Volt corners and accelerates (in Sport mode) the same, if not better. The ride is extremely quiet. The "connectivity" options are industry leading. The Volt has overcome GM's countless decades of lethargic design, boring ingenuity and laskluster performance. Due to weather, I have 118 miles per/gal after 2016 miles. I love this car. No regrets. In the least, this car is a worth your time to test drive.

Just purchased the 2013 fully loaded Volt for my wife. It's a great ride with a very high feel good factor of knowing you are helping be part of the solution to foreign oil dependency. (I'm a Desert Storm Vet) But even more important is that it's a no compromise ride - very responsive drive train and we do not worry about being stranded without a charge. Chevrolet got it right.

Incredibly electronically sophisticated vehicle. Best hybrid/electrical car on the road today. I installed a 240 volt charge station to speed up the recharging process, plus it reduces the cost of each full charge from 13kw used to 10kw. For me in Calif., it costs $1.20 for each full charge. I normally get 43-48 miles on each charge and on gas 41 mpg (light foot on the throttle). Assuming 10k miles/yr and 10% of the miles on gas, the total cost would be about $460/yr or a $2,000/yr savings over our other gas costs for 10k miles/yr. The volt cost $32k after all rebates. Do the math...this car is a no brainer! Update 3/22/17: No problems with the car after four years. Continues to perform flawlessly. I would never buy a non-electric car after my experience with the Volt. The only maintenance costs are rotating the tires each year and changing the oil, although the oil does not need to be changed as often as I do it (annually). I could probably go two years between oil changes, but that just seems to long to me. Update 9/27/18 - no change from previous reviews
