Cheap Fun
I bought my 2001 Tracker 4x4 convertible used with 18,000 miles on it. It has all the power features I didn't care about too. I had a 1993 Tracker prior, so I sought out the 2.0L 4cyl w/5spd manual combo. I cannot speak for the stock performance because within a matter of hours of owning it...I had the Calmini suspension lift and Interco 29" Thornbirds installed. However, the vehicle handles incredibly well off road in 4x4. Traction in 4x2 mode is poor at times due to the lack of weight in the rear. Fun to drive, inexpensive to buy, good on gas, and never been stuck = a winner.
Average
This car has been very reliable. However, it is very compact. There is no leg space and not much room for cargo. The interior is made with very economical plastic. Not a good car for family travel. The seats are very uncomfortable. But it ran fairly well.

Love my Tracker
I have had my Tracker for over 5 years and have 168,000 miles it. The only money I put into this vechile was for regular maintenance. It handles great in the snow! This was one of the best purchases I have ever made. I will keep until it dies!
I Love It!
I bought this car used in '03 and have loved it ever since. I have had a few costly problems, but otherwise it runs great and is a blast to drive, easy to park, fun off road. The only problems I have had have been at about 30,000 mile the master switch for the power windows broke, cost of almost $300 to replace, but I found one on Ebay for $10! Also I Just replaced the rear brakes, $700 later. I have 60,000 on it now and plan to keep it for at least another 5 years.
Dangerous vehicle
Terrible on wet roads. Slides easily when attempting to stop. Not a safe vehicle to drive. I'm trading it in out of concern for my family's safety. Unfortunately, in less than 2 years it has depreciated by 50%.
