My First Tracker

My 2001 Chevy Tracker is my very first car. It is reliable and comfortable. It gets great gas mileage and is very efficient. I love driving to school and practice in it since it is just so comfortable. I plan on keeping my Tracker until I graduate from high school, which is in about two years. It is a great car for young, inexperienced drivers.

A lot of fun for 4x4 in the snow or mud. This car seems a bit cramped at times for an SUV, but is definitley bigger than most cars. Lots of head room. The daytime running lights are nice, but impossible to turn off while the keys are in it ( like if you want to run the defogger at the drive-in). It's impossible to sleep in the back with the seats down if you're 5'8". 80k miles, 22mpg. Changing the oil requires removal of a heavy heat sheild ( not fun ).

My tracker does have 112,000 miles. It is in the shop again today for it's second rebuilt alternator. looking over since bought put about 3,000. in repairs. Brakes have been done four times, including roters. Also both rear brake springs broke and replaced. Belts broken & replaced and had to bypass A/C when broke due to astronomical price to replace. Last week power steering belt broken & replaced. Although it is still limping along, don't see much trade in value left.

I totaled my Pontiac in January of 2014, and was carless for 8 months. I suddenly got a teaching job an hour away, and bought a complete POS Saturn to get me through til I could get something decent. In January 2015, I got my Tracker - DURING a Wisconsin snowstorm. I just love this thing. Reliable, decent on gas, optional 4WD is terrific (which is why I totaled my Grand Am), lots of room, and great for my 6'1" 16 y/o stepson to get to and from work and school when I don't need it. My stepson drove it for the first time in snow today in 4WD, and he just loved it. It buys me SO much piece of mind at night, knowing I have a good winter car in Wisconsin (I adored and still miss my old Grand Am, but would never buy one again!).

I BOUGHT MY TRACKER ALMOST NEW ACTUAL MILES WAS 100 OR SO. I HAVE LOVED EVERY MILE PUT ON IT. WHEN MY FAMILY AND I TRAVEL WE ALWAYS TAKE MY TRACKER. IT'S A LITTLE CRAMPED IF OVER 4 TRAVEL. BUT THE GAS MILEAGE IS TERRIFIC, AND IN THIS TIME OF INFLATED GAS PRICES DO I SAVE THE MONEY. I LOVE THE RED COLOR WITH GRAY INTERIOR, I CAN GO FISHING OR TO THE THEATER AND SEEMS TO FIT EACH SITUATION
