Great truck so far

Went from a Tacoma (love this truck still) back to a full size truck. The Silverado with the 3.0L Duramax diesel engine is awesome!!! Especially the 23 models with the interior refresh. Great truck so far, fuel mileage is awesome too for a diesel. Got a steal of a deal on this truck, so took advantage at the time. Actually had an RST model on order with another dealer, but this LTZ truck ended up being about $600 more with a 72m/100k warranty than the RST build cost. This truck is a 2023 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab LTZ with the new 3.0L Duramax Diesel engine. (the page wouldn't allow me to choose this model so it shows the 5.3L 8cyl engine).

Purchased new 2023 Chevy Silverado crew cab custom 1500-4x4 truck. Drove it Less than 400 miles & has noise underneath rear at turning & low speeds from the suspension.Made appointment at dealership, i was at the dealership for 3 hours, service teck told me they drove it heard noise , teck gonna check torc on bolts & grease leaf springs. Dealership teck gave me his card says drive it a couple days if notice again to call. I didn't get off dealership lot when noise started.i pulled back up to dealership shop door & told teck it's doing same thing but sounded louder than before. Teck said to give him a minute to go talk to dealership shop manager. Teck came back told me manager was gonna call GM to see what can be done & give me a call. Been 3 days haven't heard from dealership yet. GM has a suspension problem on these trucks from reading posts online the problem is Chevy Silverado trucks dating back 2019 to 2023.

Awesomely underpowered

The truck was good looking, interior was great, the truck had the options I wanted. The engine? 2.7 four cylinder? That motor wont getnout of its own way. First time I ever felt an actual under powered truck. I was coming from a Ford 2.7 v6 so I was not expecting blistering power. But geez, motor was shifting at 5k just to scoot around surface streets. No thanks.

My 2023 Silverado with the 2.7 Turbo would not start. Only has 3040 miles on clock. Battery has a full charge.Instrument lights would come on with the heater and parking lights.Truck would not start. The lights and the heater would not shut off. Was told by the dealer that it needed a software update. They did the update and a week later the truck did the same thing. Its back at the dealer now 12/15/23

Buyer Beware - Worst new vehicle experience of my lifetime -Hare Chevrolet sold me a new 2023 Silverado in January of 2023. It soon became clear the infotainment system did not function properly as all sound, regardless of source, cuts out intermittently. This was a known issue at the time (as I found out later), yet I was not provided with that information and therefore unable to make an informed decision regarding the purchase. After filing a case with Chevrolet, I was eventually told that the issue was software related, that a "fix" would be written by Q3 or Q4 of 2023, and that there was nothing Chevrolet was going to do about it. Fast forward to May of 2024; still no fix. Attempts by Hare Chevrolet to correct the issue have only made it worse. They now refuse to call me back or provide any information as to if, or when, I may anticipate the corrective action. The back seats have now been removed and placed back. The truck dashboard has been pulled apart on numerous occasions. Some trim pieces had to be replaced due to damage caused by the seemingly careless nature of the service, and now most of it looks like it was reinstalled by an unqualified technician. The Hare Chevrolet sales team, the Hare Chevrolet service department, and Chevrolet itself have all failed to provide a standard of service that any consumer would find to be acceptable. Don't walk away from Hare Chevrolet, run.

Bought a 2023 LTZ Duramax brand new about a year ago and it's been nothing but trouble since. The check engine light popped on during the first drive and I'm kicking myself for not returning it at that point. Since then I've lost count of how many times it's been in the shop and what's been replaced. The latest week long visit it had to the service department resulted in a new DEF and EGR valve and one day after driving that, it dumped all of its DEF fluid and I was stuck on the highway. Back to the shop, and a few days later, it's leaking DEF and smoke is now pouring from the hood. Stay away from this thing.

2023 Silverado LT 2.7 4x4 Bought new in December 2023 6000 miles radio lost all audio (LT trim 13" screen) software updated by dealer 8900 miles, rough idle. Relearn cam shaft sensors and oil change 10,570 miles Motor blew up!! yep, wiped main bearigs 25 days in shop replaced motor, turbo and oil lines. They broke my grill replacing motor, still waiting for that to arrive. 14000 miles battery completely dead, towed in. They said it was a bad battery 14500 miles battery dead again, replaced it and said tailgate switch was bad, shorting out battery. 14500 miles I come to dealer to pick up the truck, new tailgate switch DOESNT WORK 14600 miles return to dealer to have another tailgate latch put in 14900 miles BATTERY DEAD AGIAN!!! Towed back to dealer, No short "found" but switch replaced again. Scan says driver door switch has current draw, code cleared. 15100 miles DEAD BATTERY AGAIN!!!! I knew it was coming this time. I was outside cutting my grass and noticed the tailgate opening. I closed it and it opened again. Next day battery was dead. Towed back again. This time they replaced tailgate bezel and buttons. Also ordered door latch for driver door as it is showing a code again. Truck is still in the shop. I have made 8 payments on it and am ready to get rid of it. Enough is enough. GM quality has gone so far downhill.....and I have been a die hard Chevy guy for 40 years. Sad.

This is an amazing off road truck. I use it for work. As an agronomist, I need to check crops in all types of weather on dirt roads, unmaintained lanes, tall weeds, sand dunes, driving across tilled fields, and center pivot tracks. This truck can handle mud, steep ditches, as well as sand. The Goodyear Wrangler MT 33” tires work fantastic off road, yet are quiet on freeway. The full front skid plate protects against all types of objects. Seats are very comfortable, plenty of room inside! Technology, cameras are first class. Front and rear lockers really get you out of jams! The new Multimatic shocks really adjust well to tough off road conditions. The 6.2L engine has plenty of power! No issues whatsoever in first 2000 miles. Disadvantages are no front assist park, fuel economy (however not much lower than my 5.3L in Sierra I traded off for ZR2). Chevy needs to have an 30 gallon gas tank! 10 speed automatic transmission is smooth!! Also getting in and out for shorter people can be challenging so running boards/assist steps a must. I have off road high clearance running boards from GM and they are great. For serious off roading, you can’t go wrong with a ZR2. UPDATE: I bought my 2023 ZR2 in September 2023. I currently have 37,000 miles. I drive 50/50 on paved/dirt roads. I’m an agricultural consultant so I’m driving across fields to take soil samples, around fields with no roads, and I drive a lot in the mud. I have never been stuck. This truck with locking front and rear differential is amazing. The large 33” tires and 2” factory lift gives me plenty of clearance. The Multi Matic shocks handle the toughest terrain yet ride good on hiway. I have had absolutely no issues with this truck and I drive it hard. It runs 10-12 hours a day in 100F+ heat. I let it idle while I’m checking crops. My only complaint is 6.2L engine is thirsty on gas and 93 octane is recommended. Overall average MPG is 15. I’be ordered a 2024 ZR2 with 3.0 DuraMax. If you drive a lot off road, a ZR2 is the right truck

I miss my Colorado - I traded for this junk!

I was so happy with my Colorado ZR7. I know it was a long time since updates had been done to the Colorado and since I haul a travel trailer I thought it might be a great time to upsize. I didn't know how disappointing this upsize would be. I am blown away by the cheap materials in the interior. The infotainment center is beyond horrible. The hands free doesn't work unless my phone is plugged in since my last software update. And google never understands my voice commands. And it is illegal to look at my phone while driving so perfect timing to screw up something that used to work perfectly. I am shocked that homelink is not on this vehicle in 2023. I have to drive around with the dreaded garage door controller clipped to my visor, in 2023 I'm shocked. I have had my entire radio go silent while in the middle of turn by turn. I had to pull over in a parking lot and do a factory reset in order to continue with directions. As far as the interior goes, I have spent the past 5 months vacuuming the fuzz on whatever the not carpet stuff is on the floor. My fake leather steering wheel started black and looks worn out and gray after only 4K miles. The storage and convenience is horrible. Cheap, cheap!! Did I mention that I miss my Colorado Z71? Next stop, Dodge!

I purchased this new truck about 10 months ago. Right from the start the radio at times would blast full volume, the air-conditioning would shut off 1 or 2 times before it would stay on and the windshield wipers would go on with the left turn signal. The original selling dealer told me all of this was my imagination and claimed everything was normal in that they couldn't repeat my symptoms. Obviously they never drove it and didn't care. After being driven almost to insanity by this thing I purchased a used one with 6000 miles where everything worked properly to drive it. The original new silverado ended up at a dealer 4 hours from where I am where they actually drove this thing themselves and my understanding is they have it repaired now. Don't expect any help from chevrolet. Basically you have to find the right dealer that takes the time to dig through all these electrical problems and cares about the customer

I like the truck very well. It has all tge features i wanted and more. The dark ash color is awesome ,it changes in different light. I was not aware that you don’t get an owner’s manual with the new trucks. I can’t believe fir the money they get fir the truck that no manual is included. This is not a good practice.

Originally went looking for a late model used truck and ended up in a new one on clearance instead . I found better value buying new rather than used with the rebates on leftover 2023s. Longbed with cloth interior and a few other features . Old style interior on restyled body on WT series . 2.7 turbo fairly smooth . Stop / start eliminator switch used often. 8 speed auto trans smooth. Gas miliage lower 20s Highway . A workhorse . UPDATE: After one year , mileage with the Turbo4 is 22 Hwy -18 City , body holding up ok, pulls loads decently .One service visit to reset ECU after glitch with phone- backup camera staying on after truck put in drive @ 6 months

Do not buy this truck for towing! I live in Central Florida, flat roads, and 50'sh miles to either coast. I tow a 4500pd boat on a dual axle trailer, maybe 5500pds loaded. After having a number of expensive issues with my 2018 F150 3.5 Ecoboost I decided to give Chevy a chance after reading the reviews about the 6.2L engine for towing. I'm not sure how I missed the necessity for Premium unleaded fuel, I've got about 7000 miles on my new Chevy and feel like I've spent $7000 on gas. I am getting 8.6 mpg and the truck can never get comfortable at highway speeds (70mph). It has a 24 gallon gas tank which means frequent stops for gas. With the F150 I often forgot I was towing a boat, and it had a 36 gallon tank taking unleaded fuel at 11 mpg rather than 8.6 on the Chevy. The F150 is INFINITELY better at towing than the Chevy Silverado 1500 LTZ with 6.2L V8. When I first hooked the boat up, the tail of the truck dropped to a ridiculous level (never on Ford). Enough about towing, the inside of the Chevy is nice, I particularly like the large screen (infotainment center), seats are comfortable leather, but I get rattles which drive me nuts. I'm sure a trip to the dealer could assist with that. I bought the vehicle for towing, it does not come close the meeting my expectations.

23’ Silverado LT Trail Boss 6.2L Short Bed

Andrew, 04/16/2024
2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss 4dr Crew Cab 4WD 5.8 ft. SB (2.7L 4cyl Turbo 8A)
1 of 1 people found this review helpful

There wasn’t an option for the LT Trail Boss w/ the 6.2L so I selected the 2.7 on this review. I bought this truck in August of 2023. I had been searching for almost this exact model, the only things I wanted that I didn’t get was the multi-flex tailgate and a bed view camera, otherwise the truck is loaded. It has a tow package, 6.2L, leather with heated seats, sunroof, rear sliding glass window, midnight edition. So far the truck has been great! I have about 18k on my truck, drove it to the top of the upper peninsula in Michigan, from the Milwaukee area. I drove it from Milwaukee to Savannah, GA and back and a lot of back and forth. The 6.2L gets pretty decent gas mpg. As compared to the 5.3L in my 2014 Sierra, it does better commuting and comparable on the hwy. Averaging about 80mph down to Savannah and back I averaged 17.5mpg and that was in October. If you drive more backroads at 55-65 you can expect mid-high 18mpg upto 22. This completely depends on your foot. The pedal is sensitive to gas consumption. Pulling a large uhaul trailer was a breeze and with the tow package the cameras on the outside of the truck on the mirrors helps you see your trailer as you turn. The 6.2L makes light work of basically anything you can hook up to the hitch and braking performance was as expected and good. The cameras are all great because on the Trail Boss edition whether you’re coming over a slight hill or just starting to drive the front facing camera shows you what is directly in front of you and your hood. I could honestly go without the digital dash screen and would have loved to see gauges here but I understand the desire to keep up with the Jones’s.. ie Ford, Ram etc. overall the truck has performed well in snow and off road. I have about 10 hours on off road trails up north and the only issue I had was with sand. The slightly thinner tires as compared to the rebel don’t handle the sand well, I never got stuck but I also feel confident in my driving abilities. In the snow, the truck handles well being over 6,000 lbs. and with the 4WD system. Acceleration with the 6.2L is actually pretty impressive, it’s fast! I just installed a S&B cold air intake maybe 1k miles ago and absolutely love how the sound of the engine comes through the cab (when you use that accelerator) otherwise it’s still very quiet and comfortable under normal driving conditions. The truck overall is quiet and the Apple car play has worked seamlessly with their integrated maps and features allowing your phone to truly pair with the truck. I absolutely love the sunroof and the rear sliding window. When they’re open together you get a breeze that truly opens up the truck and allows fresh air to circulate throughout the cab. The spray in bed liner has also stood up, I haul wood and other gear and so far it hasn’t dented or damaged. The tires feel just a tad skinny, I would like to see 275’s or even an option for 285’s but the tires they choose to put on these are very very good quality for traction, road noise and yes off road use.. but 80-90% of the time, these are on the road.. so the quietness inside the truck is pretty important while allowing capability for those off chances you like to actually get off road. The issues I’ve experienced: he tailgate has locked me out by not working and to get it to work (in the remote area this happened while camping) I just waited until morning to get it to work again.this also happened to me one other time where the tailgate wouldn’t drop after being closed and I just went to my next destination and it worked when I arrived about 30-45 min later. The raised hood on the trail boss is plastic :/. This was a shock to me because why!? In winter if you don’t get all your snow removed water/ snow will freeze on top of this and it can become annoying to see over and doesn’t melt unless you have direct sunlight and a slightly warmer (winters day). When I take off my seatbelt the belt itself will lodge itself between the door pillar and the seat which makes you force it or turn to adjust it and pull it to you because of the seat/ pillar construction. This has scratched my interior plastic and left a decent mark after 18k miles. I also wish some more available options like cooled seats, auto fold mirrors, power passenger seat, and a few other convenience options would be available on the LT TrailBoss but I don’t sit on that side of the truck and I’ll live lol. The only real thing that’s frustrating about the passenger seat is that you can’t raise or lower it, you’re stuck down low so if your passenger princess is short, make sure they don’t mind being down low. I also dislike that you can’t put the truck in neutral unless it’s on, on. Overall I would definitely purchase again, the interior quality is fantastic, the exterior design and quality is also great minus the plastic hood and the 6.L is everything I hoped for and more. For hauling, performance, sound and mpg, this is the motor I’ve always dreamt of in a Silverado. No lifter issues to date* If you have this truck or are considering it, I would highly recommend the S&B intake to allow your engine to breathe better and get better mpg. I would also look into a 275 tire when it comes time to replace them and get the multiflex tailgate if you have the option. Overall I’d rate this truck a 9/10 and would buy again.

Back to Chevy threw away the Ram

GM CHEVY ALL THE WAY, 02/23/2024

Surprised at the bad reviews. So far LOVE it! great breaks, handles nice. The ride hands down is so much better than the Ram. I will follow up with another review in a few years. I will NEVER buy another cheap Ram again paint blistered and down to bare metal. Put around $5,000 in repairs what a POS. Had a 04 GMC Sierra, loved that truck, had almost 200,000 miles on it only major repair was brake lines no rust. Really hoping that this Chevy has the same quality!

After 1 year I wish I’d kept my 8 year old Ram 2500. My ZR2 has been in the shop 4 times for the radio, 2 time for wiper/blinker arm, and never fixed. Now it started making rattling noises behind the back seat. Update: trade the ZR2 in for an F250 and much happier!

Great Truck So Far

Just turning over 15K and have not had to return to the dealer for a single complaint. Love the max tow and 6.2 for hauling our travel trailer and car trailer. I also use my truck as a daily and am able to pull 21.5 at 75 mph. This is my 6th GM pickup and I will say the tech is great (except the DFM) everything else, esp upholstery, seems to be getting cheaper feeling. Overall a great truck.

How cheap can you get…

This truck replaces a 2021 Silverado RST which was really trouble free. Replaced with a 2024 Silverado LT Turbomax….. what a mistake! The truck is noisy and lacks power until you get the turbo spooled up. It can cruise at highway speeds okay but lacks the “punch” when passing that the V8 had. Build quality leaves much to be desired with nasty rattle in the rear drivers side that has been hard to locate. Not happy with GM’s decontenting of previously standard or available features which now only appear in the top trim levels ( per dealer).

A Very Comfortable Truck

I have a 2023 LTZ with the Z71 package, crew cab and 5.3 motor. I find this truck very pleasing and comfortable to drive. It handles well, and passengers in the front and rear seats are very comfortable. I have own many different pickup trucks and I have found the Silverado that I currently own to be the best of the lot.

Honesty as someone who had owned a half dozen Chevy trucks this one is by far the biggest let down and the most expensive I have ever owned. The manufacturing is out right a joke that they charge 80k for a truck that was more cheaply made than 7 years prior and half the cost. Chevrolet get it together and stop trying to gouge your loyal customers.

Truck has a quiet cabin and drives very smooth. Obviously as trucks are, gas mileage is garbage, infotainment system is glitchy and gives me problems every once in awhile. The speed limit icon displayed in the gage cluster worked for like 2 weeks and then just gave out, i feel like it’s lacking good materials and quirks and features for the money, I would take ur $50,000 and get something else

Bought a Trail Boss with the 10 speed trans . Love the truck , has a sun glare off the short chrome piece on the left side of the dash that reflects into the drivers side mirror . Puts a glare in middle of the mirror . Can be a safety issue . Very distracting . Still love the truck

Perfect vehicle, love the new LZO 3.0L. Do not like the oil consumption. Two quarts every 4K,Towing 21 ft bass boat. Love the Silverado Z71. Nice package. Good power good fuel mileage. Over all very nice.

The z71 RST is loaded w features, plenty of power and just a slick design. Great ride and quiet in the interior. Graphics and screen are well done and plenty of room in the cabin. Love the floor….easy to keep clean. Rims and tires give the truck an aggressive look too. All this with decent gas mileage for having a 5.2L engine. Got everything I wanted with this one. Spray in liner with bed lights are a feature I have never had….but need now. It’s awesome.
