I have always owned 4 wheel drive trucks, never have I driven one with more traction than the All Wheel Drive SS. I tow a large trailer, many times on glare ice, and feel confident and safe!

I bought this truck with 150,000 miles on from someone that I knew and I knew the mechanic that did 100% of it's maintenance and repairs. Both told me that the truck was a gem with very few repairs during it's 1st 8 years. In keeping with that repair history the truck has seen only 1 or 2 minor repairs plus a transfer case replacement (mostly my fault). My 1500HD has about 238,000 miles now that it is over 18 years old. If you ever had a chance to drive a vehicle with 4-Wheel steering you'd fall in love with it as I did. When in 4-whl drive, I can turn 180 degrees in 10 less feet that the exact truck w/o the option. It was only available in the 2002, 2003 and 2004 pickup trucks. It was discontinued due to it's high option price of $4,500. Granted it was lowered to $3,000 the second year and - I hear - it was lowered even more in it's final year - 2004. Chevrolet just didn't sell enough units to make it worth their while. You'll find almost entirely praise on various chat rooms dealing with pickup trucks and I found no one who ever needed a repair of their 4-wheel steering. I have never needed any work done to mine but the alignment shop had to buy a special book from GM with the specs on aligning a truck with this option. Very little extra work and he charged no extra 'cause he was fascinated by the unit. Update : April '22... I now have 240,000 miles on this truck and have had nothing go wrong since my original review 4 years ago. Everything still works. It has been one of the best purchases that I've ever made. I live in Minnesota with lots of salted roads and even after driving every winter with this truck there is hardly any rust. It still looks great.

Great everyday truck. MPG average 15-17 hilly /mountain driving. Hard to tow heavy loaded trailer 7000lb up hills. 67000+ no major repairs required. Love this truck.

Great truck. Made when u.s. auto makers realized Japan and Germany were taking over and making them look out of date and needing to make a statement and quality vehicles again. My truck has been awesome.

I'm a little disapointed for the money I spent. The sticker was 33K+. For that much cash it should include a walnut dash, power seats, a decent sounding XM/multi-CD radio, etc...I find the base seats to be miserable on any trips over an hour. NO MANUAL LUMBAR ADJUSTMENT! Hell, even Kia has adjustable lumbar in their cheapest models.

I have had this truck since 2004. It had a little over 3000 miles when I got it. Other than scheduled maintenance it's not been in the shop. Now with a little over 135,000 mile it's still one of the best-looking Silverado's on the street. True duals running out the back with flow master mufflers, there ain't no better sound, especially when you fire her up in the morning. I've enjoyed this vehicle more than any other I've ever owned except for my 1965 Chevy C-10 fleet side (Black Beauty). The Silverado SS, it's number one with me.

This was my 1st bought new truck & I love it. I live in the country so the 4x4 gets used due to snow & mud and it has always worked like a charm. This is my everyday going to work, pulling stock trailer & my going on vacation vechicle all in one & it does it all. Other then routine oil changes I've never had to put any repair work into it. Only thing that ever happened was the overhead console came loose & I had to tighten the screw that held it. I love this truck & sorry dealerships, but I'm not going to be getting another for years probably even decades cause this is the one for me & is built to last. It still looks brand new inside & out. This is my go there go anywhere reliable truck

This is the best truck i ever had. It is fast and useful. Because of the all wheel drive I can use it in the winter. I can also pull my boat with no problems.

Truck is not up to my standard for only having 107000 miles its being repaired to often. Traded in for a Ford!
