Heaven on wheels
This car is the most awesome vehicle I've ever owned. Comfortable, quiet, with power to get me where I want to go.
A Sporty Comfortable Package!
After driving about twenty vehicles at the GM AutoShow In-Motion, I found this car to be an exceptional value. Taking it's size in consideration there are no other foriegn or domestic coupes that stack up to it. The Monte is truly American and a through back to days gone by in ways similar to the PT Cruiser. It gives you a Caddy feel with a Chevy price tag. Under normal and cruising driving conditions, the feel is smooth and solid. The interior though tastefully sparse is spacious and comfortable. If size, solid feel, distinct styling, and good value for the money is what you want, then give the Monte a test drive. I think it will win you over!
All Around Very Good Performer
Don't let the snobbish reviewers sway you about the exterior styling. This is not a cookie-cutter car for conformists. It was designed to look different than regular commuter-cars, and i think its features are very distinctive and memorable. Very good performance from FWD 3.8 litre V6. A great engine, great transmission, and great handling/suspension characteristics. If you miss 1960's/early 1970's sporty/luxury 2- door coupes, then this car may be for you. And keep in mind, this car produces more horsepower than any production Monte since 1974, when they still put had the big-block as an option. I recomend this car for those who want to live a little, and still have a sense of practicality!
Great Car
The power plant could be more powerful, but Chevy has addressed this in new models. Great build quality, have owed car for 2 years 3 months, not one problem. Very reliable, looks great, drives well, gets a lot of looks. Highly recommend it.
monte carlo 2003
What I like the most about this car is the look, color, and also the ride. Gmac did me good on this one 1.9%, I use to knock them but no more. Thanks GMAC!!I will remember you in my conversations!! oh easy on gas!
2003 Monte Carlo, bad power steering
I have had this car serviced 8 times in 17 months for problems with the power steering pump. Eventually, the entire power steering rack was replaced, but the problem is still not resolved. I love the look and feel of the car, but the mechanics on it are horrible. I am a loyal GM customer, but the difficulties that I have had with the servicing of this vehicle are pushing me towards foreign cars with much better manufacturer's warranties.
One Great Monte!
When they changed the body style in 2000, the first time I saw it I fell in love, and it has been a love affair ever since. I just knew I had to get one. I LOVE IT!! The best looking, sleekest looking car on the highway.
Ford Can't Beat it
I would love to have one with a V8 but at age 63 a V6 goes fast enough. The gas mileage is great. I average 27.2mpg a tank driving at 60-73mph with some city driving included. It has remarkable correction on the road. This car will not go on the block for sale anytime soon.
03 ss
Overall, a very fine car. Well designed with plenty of room and excellent gas mileage. Great looking too!
Great Car!!!
I love this car! Its a dark blue SS and I have 13000 miles on it. Gas mileage is great (average over 26 mpg), the interior is just perfect, both fit and finish and design, the 3800 is an increadible engine (great torque curve and reliablity).
It's all I had hoped and more
Only have 6,700 miles on my car or so, but so far so good. I bought this after owning a Lumina Euro for 7 years. Keep up the good work Chevy! Great gas mileage and since the LS didnt look much different than the SS I get a break on insurance as well but still a fine lookin' ride. WOO HOO! The only thing I'd change is the color...big dummy I got yet another black car and man is it a pain to keep clean!
Sweet!
Bought the car new and have never regretted it, even with the baby. Roomy and fun to drive. Chevrolet improved it a year later by adding a V8 option Only change I would make is that.
My Last Chevy
Fell in love with the Monte's after owning a '98. But now I am ready for a divorce. Paint is flaking off, sunroof no longer works, head light sockets keep melting, random rattling sounds under the car, bad a/c unit and broken seatbelt covers. And what did Chevy do about it when I called them? They gave me a survey about my Chevy ownership history and then told me that I was out of luck, that the paint problem was because of living in New England. Since I don't plan on moving, I apparently am discluded from owning any more Chevy's. Of course, after they told me I was on my own with all the other issues, that was the last straw, and I babied this car! Horrible trade in value.
monte carlo,ss-dream machine!
i am a 56 year old grandmother, and have been in a lot of vehicles through my life time, i chose a beautiful red monte carlo,ss- for it's sporty looks on the outside, and inside i have the look and feel of luxury with the leather interior, plenty of room for for all my grandchildren, and the dependability to get us to all the nascar events of the year! p.s.-- i am waiting for my next monte carlo, earnhart jr. signature series, please let me know when this car will be available. nascar granny
Good but could be great
After spending a month with the car, I am beginning to really like the car. For everyday commuting it is very comfortable and gets very good gas mileage. What it isn't is a performance beast that makes me want to take it out for the hell of it and just cruise around. For a SS moniker car I expect it to outperform the average sedan from Japan. Sadly, it just does not cut it under the hood.
Days Of Thunder
I love this car. My wife likes it but is having seperation anxiety from the Tahoe we turned in. She feels like its to small now. LOL. Overall though we love it. Once she gets used to it I plan on spending many nights on the beach staring at the stars through the awesome sun roof. AAAAAAAAAAA++++++++++++
Love my YELLOW Monte
I have only had my car for a few weeks now, but at this time I can truly say I love it. I have been wanting a yellow one for some time now and made up my mind that when my lease expired on my Blazer my next car would be a monte, yellow one!!!
Red SS
We weren't really that serious to trade,....but we spent five years in our Honda CR-V EX, and had our belly full of our little under powered "sport cute". This good looking Yankee made it a MUST GET. What a car / What a deal! The U.S. auto mfgs. are eager to put you behind the wheel. THERE IS ABSOLUTLY NO COMPARISON TO OUR 03' RED MONTE SS.........WOW WHAT A CAR! Our's is loaded ( heated leather seats, "OnStar", moon roof, & power everything ) and that 3.8L 200 hp V six........Knarley dude! Some words to the wise, "SEE THE USA IN A CHEVROLET !"
Love my YELLOW Monte
So far I have nothing but good things to say about this car. It's great and lots of fun to drive. The first time I seen a yellow one, I had to have one. But had to wait till my lease expired on my current vehicle, but that day finally came and I now am the proud owner of a YELLOW Monte!!!
I love my SS
I only have 7000 miles on the car but I love it. It rides so nice and has a lot of power. It is a very comfortable car.
The two door sports car
This is my 6th Monte Carlo since 1982. The second FWD after our '98. I like the big two door sports coupe with the styling back from the '70s and '80s. The car gets great gas mileage (26MPG avg)...has lots of room. Dash layout is good. The aluminum wheels in the first option package really sport out the car. The car rides great, some road noise on certain pavement types, most likely due to the Goodyears, will try Michelins when replacement time comes like I had on the '98 Monte. Some people either like the styling or don't. I looked at and compared to the Imapala, too much of a grand-pa car.
Best Monte Carlo In Town
This car is very comfortable to drive. I can set the seat for me to use and adjust when needed. All the radio controlls are right at the seering wheel so as I don't have to reach to change the channel.I have OnStar, which makes the convienence of a hands free cell phone. Just push a button just above your head and start talking, you tell it what to do, can even check your E-mails.This car has a very sleek look and the exterior gives it a sporty look. Handling is perfect for anyone. Just a great car.
Fun car "But"
Love the car but hate the service from the local dealers. The front rotors have warped twice in a year. Service department seems to think this is not a warrantee situation.
Monte Carlo Review
Since purchasing the Monte Carlo, I have enjoyed its smooth ride and high performance. It has power and I love the vehicle handles. I feel in control of the vehicle and the road while I am driving. This model provides more than adequate room inside and trunk space. I especially, like the sleek, dynamic lines of the model. Very impressive design. Hope is provides years of service.
monte carlo
Considering the cost of this car, it has broke 3 times and qualified for the Ohio Lemon Law. This car was reliable until about 9k miles and that is where the problems began for 3 weeks in a row. i am in the process of a buyback, so think twice before spending a lot of money on a brand new car and thinking it will be reliable.
love the car
this is one of the very best cars i have ever owned. i can't think of anything i don't like about it!
My toy
Went into dealer to buy a new pick-up. When I saw the Black Monte Carlo on the floor I just had to have it. I have had it for a month now and am very pleased. Except for the creaking rear window. When it is cold outside and you hit a bump the window creaks. The dealer says the rear windshield was improperly installed at the factory. They did the prescribed maint. but it still creaks. Tomorrow they will try again.
2003 Monte Carlo - Love it
I DRIVE my Monte Carlo. I love my Monte Carlo. I commute daily and I drive in a city during the day. The car rides great, looks awesome. It is sporty but also is like a full size car in comfort. I purchased an LS but plan to trade up to an SS in about a year! Great buy
Great Car
Bought as a GM certified car. It had 29k on it. The price was decent, the equipment level is great. Plenty of power, plenty of amenities. I got to drive it for 3 weeks before my wife borrowed it, she fell in love with it, and has been drving it since. (oh well, gotta keep her happy I guess) I got a new truck, but still enjoy driving this car. Even with 60k-plus miles, it still has plenty of power. Turn off the trction control, and spinning the tires is not a problem. The response from others is still very positive. If you are looking for a 2- door, but are concerned about space for backseat passengers, look no further. This car has plenty. Drive one, you'll love it.
Not all that it was hyped up to be.
This car was a poor choice. It looked more exciting than it is.. Fit and finish are terrible and the non stop problems are becomming depressing. I knew I should have gone with the Altima instead. Live and learn!
2003 Competition Yellow SS ,my dream car
When I first saw a Yellow Monte, I couldn't wait for my lease with my 2001 Red Impala to be over.I put a Yellow Monte on my desktop till I bought one. The kids thought I was alittle obsessed with it!Well they took back the Impala 7 months early! Now I have my baby! I Love driving it, 13,000 miles in 9 months. Sometimes I'm amazed at how many compliments I get on my car. It's a great car:)
2003 Monte Carlo-Great Vehicle
Great vehicle for purchase price. Great gas mileage! No issues with performance. Graduating to higher end vehicle. Would be a good starter car for a teenage driver.
My Review
Well I rode in my uncles car twice and I luved it. I am going to buy one next year. They are comfortable, styly, and afordable. I think every one should get one. Jessica
Road Noise
Lot of road noise and tire noise.Handles nice
Great Car
Have owned a 2003 Monte Carlo SS for 9 months. It is a fantastic car. Excellent quality and fun to drive. Has surprising power for a V6 with excellent gas mileage. Averaging about 25 MPG. Took it on a 1400 mile trip and averaged 31.5 MPG.
Sweet ride!
I fell in love with the looks of the SS with the High Sport Appearance package and I catch many people staring at the car. The black with the silver trim is very attractive! Great car!
Great Car!
I've had my monte for a month and I love it. It could use a heated steering wheel. It does have some wicked blind spots both front and rear. Very fun to drive. Very fast!
I love my Monte Carlo SS
My Monte Carlo is the best thing I have ever bought. Since I was a little kid, I have always wanted one. My dream came true, and I have nothing but good things to say about the car. It's a guy magnet at Nascar Races.
Good value
Good american built car. Great freeway driver. 200 HP engine - more than enough to get through most daily traffic situations. I like that it does not look like most other cars.
I love my Monte
It was my first new car and I could not ask for anything better. It handles like a dream.
2003 Monte
I have not had one problem since I bought the car. I was however in a real bad accident with it and it was amazing how well the car handled the impact. I'm very impressed with this car.
I LOVE THIS CAR!!!
I turned in my 1999 Grand Prix at lease end and thought I wanted another one, but since they no longer make the 2-door model I decided to purchase the Monte Carlo...and I'm glad I did! I love this car! I went with the SS model with the High Sport Appearance package...it is basically loaded except for the satellite radio (which I don't need anyway)...it is an absolutely beautiful car...I've caught many people staring!...including myself!!! I can't wait for the nice warm weather to come back again so I can really show it off!
AWSOME CAR
I LIKE IT I LOVE IT I WONT SOME MORE OF IT. THIS CAR RIDES LIKE A DREAM I DRIVE IT OVER 75 MILES A DAY BACK AND FORTH TO WORK. I HAVE ONLY HAD IF FOR 3 MONTHS WITH NO PROBLEMS AT ALL.FIRST CHEVY I HAVE ONED IN YEARS. I WILL GO BACK.
Differences between 1999 and 2002
Compared to the 1999 Monte Carlo the new design 2002 drives like a barge. This design is harder to steer and the cruise control looses up to 5 miles per hours attempting to maintian the current speed. The whole car seems to be under powered.
I love this car
This car has all the features I wanted and some I didn't know I needed until I used them. Like heated seats, what a great option! The stereo controls on the stearing wheel and ON STAR are great features and add to the safety factor. But best of all I think this car looks great, drives like a dream and trouble free.
2003 Monte Carlo
I've driven Pontiacs for the past 7 years and was planning to purchase another one until I test drove a 2003 Monte Carlo. I loved the get up and go it had and just had to buy it. The sleak body and style blew me away. I am also impressed that it gets just as good gas mileage as the pontiac did.
Surprised, and impressed!
I have searched long and hard for the right vehicle, finnaly I found it! This car is awesome, especially since i am a big man, I wanted a vehicle big enough to sit in and not have my knees in my chest. Bingo! The monte carlo does just that. I have all the room i need, and the car performs very well. I am impressed. I hope that others will be able to enjoy theirs as much. It has also been awesome with gas mileage and with mechanical performance. Just routine maintenance and this baby will roll for a long time to come.
Great car
I love this vehicle
MY 2003 MONTE CARLO SS
I LOVE MY MONTE CARLO SS, MY CAR BEFORE IT WAS AN 01 CAMARO SS, BUT I'M VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE POWER MY MONTE CARLO HAS EVEN THOUGH IT'S A V6. MINE IS BLACK ON BLACK, AND I HAD THE WINDOWS TINTED WHICH MADE IT LOOK AWESOME.I HAVE PUT 18 INCH CHROME RIMS ON IT AND A CATBACK FLOWMASTER EXHAUST SYSTEM ALSO. I HAVE TO ADMIT THOUGH THAT IT HAS BEEN VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND AFTERMARKET PERFORMANCE PARTS FOR MY CAR, BUT OTHER THEN THAT I GIVE IT AN A+
I love this car
I have had no bad experiences related to this vehicle. It even handled really well when i ran over a piece of sheet metal on the highway going about 70 miles an hour. It's comfortable and responsive.
