The car is difficult to drive. Going from a large size sedan to this midsize SUV. I have found it difficult to transfer. I know with time I'll probably get used to the vehicle itself but it is definitely not a first time user friendly. I do find that there is a lot of play in the steering wheel as well as the wheels. Or the drivetrain moving left to right on the roadways. It does not drive straight. I'm kind of wondering if there is some sort of a wheel alignment issue going on with it, but I will take it in just to have it checked and serviced. There are a lot of things that were said to be automatic with the vehicle and turns out that no, those are all just extras. There are a lot of defects in the paint. There are also areas where there should have been more attention put into it or maybe some seals or some cushion or fabric to make it better. Overall the car has a two star rating.

I am still on the fence

This is my 3rd Equinox, my last was a 2022 and a 2019 before that. There is no trunk release on the LT version and I have some upgrades. There isn't even a trunk release button inside. My other Equinox's with the same trim had it. If this is a family SUV not having it is a really inconvenience when your hands are full and have kids to situate. The gear shift out of the steering column is a lot to get used to. They moved the wiper blades to the left side. The buttons behind the steering wheel to adjust the volume and such are awkwardly placed being they are lower than before so I barely use them now because I have to lower my position on the steering wheel which doesn't feel natural like before. The ride seems smoother but its higher up and bigger feel all around, especially the boxy hood. It's never taken me so long to adapt to a new car/suv. I hope I get used to the suv. It's been 3 weeks. I am glad I have a lease because I wont get another one if there aren't some changes. The trunk is a big issue for me. I can't even pop it open for my husband to help carry some stuff in(after he gets off work) when I am already in the house. I have to go outside with my keys to get it open. I also have 2 google maps in the dash. One i can make calls from and one I am still being asked to sign in for. There is no phone icon on the screen. You have to go to the control panel and look for it there or use one of the googles to pull up the phone contacts and favorites. I am a techy person and I feel like i'm missing something here.

Traverse and Equinox

I owned my Traverse for 7 years and loved everything about it!! Unfortunately it was totaled. I just bought a 2025 Equinox. A little bit smaller version of the Traverse, but just as amazing. So many awesome features, beautiful inside and out. I can't wait to go on a road trip. If you're looking for a vehicle, I highly recommend the Traverse and Equinox.

Intricate infotainment system

I have the Aktiv. It has plenty of power, all the normal driving controls work right. Cameras on all four sides, adaptive, cruise control, and voice control for most of the controls in the inside. The problem is you can’t find a list anywhere of all the correct terminology to use for the voice controls. Even the dealer can’t help me. Sometimes you use Google, sometimes you just talk to the car, and sometimes, in my case, I have to use Apple CarPlay to get it to do what I want. None of this is documented well anywhere. The car is pretty high up off the ground, And getting in and out requires sliding across the outside edge of the driver seat. I can see that that edge of the seat is going to wear prematurely. I don’t even know why the car is that high up. I put a USB flash drive in there with music on it, the same one that I used in my previous two Hondas, and the equinox doesn’t even see a lot of the songs that are on it. The dealers have done extensive research, to find out why these songs are not detected or played in this car, but they play in all the older cars. they can’t find the information anywhere, and neither can I. I find that very disappointing. OnStar offers a basic eight year plan called OnStar basic. Among other things, it includes basic navigation. Many of the OnStar built-in functions only work if you have OnStar Wi-Fi. After 90 days, this Wi-Fi has to be paid for or they disable it. So I called them up and I said OK enable it. and they did. At the same time they canceled my eight year OnStar basic plan. That meant all I had was Wi-Fi. No crash protection nothing. So I canceled the Wi-Fi, and got my eight year plan back.

I think this vehicle is a overpriced van. I shouldnt have to pay close to $31,000 for a vehicle that still uses a lever to switch gear and move the seats back or up. All that computer stuff is great... for a desktopn not driving. the control buttons for heating and so forth seems so rinky dink. the back cargo area everything slides on each turn because of the plastic matting back there. Just yo seel the actual gas gauge you have to push this and that buttond. In all a horrible design.
