Used 2020 Chevrolet Colorado Consumer Reviews
Blue Colorado
Well mannered, comfortable seats with plenty of room for 6 footers. Front seat sets back enough for even 7 footer. Handles well on smooth and rough surfaces. Solid - no squeaks. Trans is smooth and shifts well in drive. Using low allows you to shift all 8 gears according to your situation. Good power and great pickup speed. Air and heat is super with great fan speeds. Good turning radius and great view on all sides to park. Apple play is outstanding and removes requirement for expensive extra Navigation. Very impressed with back seats and ample seating space for adults. Would rate it #1 in all midsize pickups. Towing is less than the others but ride and quality is best rated to offset towing. We bought for quality, ease of driving and not for towing.

Best Value in the Mid-Size Market
I've been driving a Dodge Dakota for the past 16 years, and researched extensively the differences between the Ranger, Colorado, and Tacoma. I haul and tow pretty regularly, but don't want a full-size truck. Since I need a long (6') bed, the Tacoma and Colorado become my only options. The Colorado rides better than the Tacoma (my opinion, of course), has a higher tow capacity, and is less-expensive for comparably-equipped models. I settled on the Colorado and have been very satisfied with my choice so far. It's a great mid-size truck that pulls 5000 pounds nicely. One criticism of the Colorado is that the interior feels a little cheap, and I'd agree, but I'm far more concerned with the functionality of the truck than the look of the interior

All Around Great Truck (4x4)
My 2019 Colorado is the W/T edition, 4x4, 3.6L V6, 8 speed automatic. The dealer ordered the truck with some options that stepped it closer to an L/T (colored bumpers and mirrors, rear view camera, the Light Touch tailgate, Weather Guard floor mats, locking rear differential, etc.), but left off the items I didn’t really want, or wanted to pay for, anyway. This got me out the door around $2,500 cheaper then buying a L/T. The biggest of the omitted items was the 8 inch Infotainment system. Being a previous GM owner, I have a long history of experience with Onstar, and they can keep it! It is so much easier to just use your phone for navigation or whatever else you need. Basically, your Apple or Android phone can do everything Onstar can do (and probably do it better) and you don’t have to pay an extra $20 a month for it. Just my personal choice. The ride in this truck is great! More like a car than a truck, but it sits high, so you’ll always have that, “I’m driving a truck,” feeling. Fuel mileage is sooo much better then my friend’s Tacoma. At 65 mph I average 28 - 28.5 mpg, while the Tacoma gets 20 if he’s lucky. At 75 mph I’m in the 26 mpg range. Around town I get 16 - 20 depending how hard I leave at the lights. I’m 6’2” and have plenty of space inside the cab. Seats are all day comfortable. All the controls (AC, radio, etc.) are clear, easy to use and nicely laid out. Even the armrest sits at a perfect height for me. Phone conversations are clear and have no issues via the Bluetooth. The interior is just a nice place to be. I’ve had no issues with my truck since I bought it. I love this truck. If you’re in the market for a midsize truck, it’s worth checking out.

Not off to a good start.
Check engine light after 20 miles for some wiring issue, multiple problems with the air conditioner that the dealer can't duplicate, and then today my touchscreen locked up. All within the first 2,000 miles.

2019 colorado ZR2
I just bought this ZR2 and I am tickled to death with it, Off road it has a fantastic smooth ride as well as going down the hiway, it could have better gas mileage but even that isn't to bad. It has the 3.6L V6 and that gives this truck emmense power. The suspension takes this truck to a new level, going across a pasture it didn't even spill a drop of my coffee, And if you are a short person like me, you will want to get some steps because it does set a little high, but its not to bad either. I would recommend this truck to anyone

I Love This Truck!
Just purchased a 2020 Chevy Colorado Crew Cab Z71. Lots of Power in this Midsized Truck. V6 engine is very responsive. Very nicely designed in the cab. Long Bed option gives you plenty of hauling space. Rides and Handles Great. Surprisingly quiet in the cab. My wife and I can carry on a nice conversation without having to talk above the road noise. Couldn’t be any happier with our purchase.
Ideal city truck
I bought a fairly loaded crew cab LT with the diesel . . . without a test drive. And I have to say I'm pleased. -Negative press reviews abound over how "Choppy" the ride is. The reality is that it rides better than the Tacoma's and current generation Silverado that I have had. - Fuel economy on the diesel can be unbelievably good or a little disappointing depending on what type of driving you do . . Can be in the mid thirties MPG on 55 MPH highway runs. Around the city you are in the low twenties MPG. Was the diesel worth it? probably not by in terms of cost, but I love the torque and not having to fill up as much. - Interior feels a little cheap according to the press? Have to agree somewhat, but isn't that the norm on most new , non-luxury cars? - It feels solid and quiet for a truck, even with the diesel tapping away in the background - NAV and electronics are usable . . .People complain about them , but I've ridden in $100k cars that worked about as well. -Collision avoidance is easily confused, noticeably more than other vehicles I have driven. But it does work and has prevented some hard braking incidents.Oddly enough the lane departure warning works significantly better. -Minor Annoyances-- Storage: Door panels have many odd cubby holes: great idea, but they are shallow, so things you place in them can fall out when you close the doors. The center console is small and deep, so you find yourself trying to put things somewhere else so you don't have to dig into a pile of junk to retrieve them. The rear seat is pretty tight to back of the cab, so there isn't much space behind the 2nd row seat, and the compartment below the lower rear seats is fairly shallow. I've had no build quality issues, and My only concern is a bit of a clunk sometimes on low speed starts. UPDATE after 1 year ownership: Only one issue arose: Emissions warning light with a warning that speed would be limited after x amount miles. Emissions sensor changed under warranty by dealer. Later the warning light came on again, without the speed limit warning. I drove through it and it disappeared after a couple hundred miles. Just received a recall notice regarding particulate filter process. Overall still pleased.

Colorado, Nice alternative to full size Pick up
I like the lines of the truck and more maneuverable than the Silverado. For my use, I don't really need the bigger footprint of the Silverado. Inside is comfortable. Back seat is a little upright, and a bit tight if front seats are all the way back. However, I don't use the back seat much and you can always inch the seats up a bit to give passengers in the back a bit more room without losing comfort for front seat passengers. I am not a big fan of the touch screens in any new cars. Way to complicated and takes your eyes off the road. They did add some redundant readouts in the instrument cluster, which is an improvement and redundant buttons on the info-center. However, as with all modern cars you can't adjust them with gloves on, which can be a nuisance in areas like mine (NJ) that have cold winters. I also don't understand the new penchant for putting large wheels on SUV's and pick ups! They are a fortune to fix and look are out of proportion to the vehicle and wheels. Why do you think the offer "Wheel insurance" now? Makes not sense. Thankfully, I was able to get it with the 17" wheels. Also, while a full size spare (excellent) it is a 16". Why not give a REAL wheel the same size and style so you can get better 5 wheel rotations instead of 4 wheel tire rotation. I would recommend getting the running boards (Assist steps) as they make it easier to get in and out and also to get to roof for washing and snow removal. Very smooth quiet ride, very little if any body role. I love the Cajun red finish but expensive at over $500 up charge. The regular red is more orange and ugly. People love the Cajun Tint Red. Got lots of compliments already. Very good visibility out front and back up camera is a must (standard equipment). I am going to get a matching LEER cap for the back and slide out bed for ease of access (the older you get, the less you want to crawl up in the bed to get your gear. I strongly suggest getting good mats like Weather Tech, or equal. The factory carpet mats look nice but get too dirty too quickly, just like any vehicle. I like the sleek lines of the truck overall, looks very sporty compared to the more boxy Silverado. I like the exterior styling more than the FORD, TOYOTA or RAM equivalent. I have seen reviews that thought the interior was too simple. For my taste, I love that. When they add chrome and fake wood it is all just plastic. I wish the price was lower. I heard on Nightly Business Report that the companies make a huge profit on pick ups- something like $10,000! They should lower the price a bit as people buy these for work, not just play and riding around town. I like that it has REAL 4 wheel drive and truck construction, better than the dumbed down SUV's now aimed at the "Soccer Mom" market. I use my truck for both work, play and general travel so very good utility. I had a 1999 Chevy Blazer that this is replacing. Sad to see that baby go. Motor got fried from sitting in that debacle of a snow storm last year. Took me 6.75 hours for normally a 1/2 hour ride. All that idling killed it and a lot of other vehicles. I loved that S-10 Blazer as it had the tailgate (no annoying lift gate) and was on a truck body. The Colorado has great towing capacity. I will only use it for light towing (small boat and small construction rental equipment occasionally) but good to have the extra capacity. Overall very happy with the vehicle. I HATE the buying process though as it is like a "steel cage death match" with dealers sometimes!

Colorado Dreamin'
If you are truly a truck person, I believe you'll just love this truck, as we do. I bought this truck in its work form, because I was not looking for all the amenities of a luxury auto. I have a 6' bed, plenty of power with its V6 and 8 speed automatic transmission, and plenty of ground clearance as I travel the streets of western Michigan in 4 wheel drive during our very snowy winters. And, yet, as everyone that has seen my truck, can't get over how beautiful it is with its great styling and Pacific Blue Metallic paint job. Being an average size person, I can't speak to some of the complaints about cabin size, but I have more than enough room for my 5' 10" 200 lbs frame. Before deciding on another brand, no matter your size, you have got to check out this one. The Chevrolet Colorado is one great truck. After 6 months of ownership, love the Colorado even more. Used the truck to bring home a 6' patio door and enough green board to build a 10' x 12' deck. With its 6' bed and 2' tailgate was able to bring home 12' boards to build the deck. This is a mid-size truck, but definitely big enough for the big jobs, just like its cousin the full-size trucks. Really like its aggressive stance and more narrow girth. Nice thing about owning a truck, for example, came home from work one day only to have the storm door fall off the hinges in my hands. Went to the store......threw the new storm door in the back......installed it.........no muss no fuss. After my first year of ownership, still loving the truck. In the past, working 3rd shift, had the little woman waking me up a half hour early, when we got hit with a snowstorm, so I could pull out the snow thrower and clear our steep uphill driveway. Now with my 4 x 4 Colorado, she let's me sleep until I'm ready to go. Although this is true with any four wheel drive vehicle, just makes me love my truck even more, which is hard to believe is possible. I wouldn't want any other vehicle. I love my girlfriend, truck, and dachshund in that order. My girlfriend had better behave herself, because the truck is vying for the first spot.

Best bang for the buck in mid-sized trucks!
I did some in depth research before purchasing my 2019 Chevy Colorado Crew Cab 2WD LT 3.6-V6 5.1ft bed. Edmunds had a great video comparing the 2019 Colorado, Ranger & Tacoma to analyze standard features, interior space, power and Towing, ride comfort, and off-road capabilities. After watching the video it helped make a decision on the best bang for the buck for my needs. I love the ride and the stance of the truck. I didn't need 4-wheel drive, but I did opt for the electronic locking rear differential which comes in handy when parking in muddy grass parking lots during the summer rains in Florida. The 305 hp 3.6 naturally aspirated V6 is the best engine option for this truck. And has plenty of power and with the towing package allows me to tow up to 7,000 lbs. I'm 6'1 235lbs and the front seats offer plenty of front leg and headroom and with the power driver seat I can adjust it for maximum comfort. The only thing that kept me from giving this truck 5 star's was I would like to have some more padding on the bottom of the front seats. One feature I really think is great is the gauge cluster center screen that displays the current speed limit for the road your driving on.....it can sure help avoid speeding tickets where speed limits drop real quick. The HD Bose infotainment system is user friendly and sounds awesome. I've had the truck for 14 months and have had no problems at all, and the average MPG on the highway has ran between 28/30 mpg.

exactly what it says it is
Having the vehicle for 7,500 miles: The Colorado is exactly what Chevy says it is: a capable midsize pickup. The trucks has excellent road manners but is still very capable. I have loaded the truck to max payload and there was little effect on the handling. I routinely tow a boat and again, very capable. The smaller size means I can park it in the Garage and not panic in lots with small parking spaces. The Colorado is exactly what Chevy said it is and what I was looking for. I have an LT crew shorty with the V6 and 8 speed, 2WD. There has been some press about the transmission but I find it one of the best I have every had. Very smooth, responsive, and well mated to the excellent V6 which is also excellent. I really like the way the truck drives and acceleration is very good. Fuel economy is exactly what it says on the sticker and only slighter worse than my previous small SUV with a 4 banger. Its hard to complain about the utility and driving characteristics. In regards to creature comforts: the large screen infotainment system is easy to use and as good as anything on the market. visibility is pretty good and the slow moving tailgate is a nice touch. Downsides: the seats are not that comfortable, they are OK, but should be better. In-cabin storage and utility: Well, those that designed the door and rear seat storage need to find another job. Pitifully poor execution and way behind the competition. And finally, value. I purchased this vehicle for considerably less than a comparable Ranger or Tacoma. Only the Frontier offers a similar value and that truck is not in the same class and the Colorado. Considering this vehicle and the competition, I can recommend the Colorado.
Great WOW factor in side and but hate the GPS
first, if you come from another midsize truck like me, you need to know that gas millage sucks, is 2 or 3 miles under a Tacoma but so far I like My ZR2 better than the Tacoma (I was a 3 times Tacoma owner), the exterior style turns more heads than any other truck and the interior don't even compare with the basic style of the Tacoma, the ZR2 has a beautiful luxurious and comfortable interior, i would rather a little softer bottom for the driver sit for long drives though. getting in the truck (if you are not 6.2) is a problem because there is no handle on the driver side to help with that ( I miss that from my Tacoma). it feels more powerful and smooth ride than the Tacoma. it tows like a dream with the towing mode and brakes (2500lb trailer) and it handles great in the snow ( I live in Utah, I know what I'm taking about). the one thing that bothers me is the so called info system, I really hate the GPS set, first you have to pay a monthly fee for a service that is free on your phone or any gps and second you have to "call" every time you want an address, that means that you also have to pay for internet and voice service even if you don't want those services that already are in your phone... it is ridiculous, and third, I like to have a dedicated GPS Map on screen all time and that is not possible with this system. i have to get a Gps for the top of my console to solve my problem... but i think that is a stupid way for them to make a little more money out of you ruining a $47k new truck experience. so again, if you can leave with 15 mpg and like calling for directions (and let the world know where are you going).. The Colorado ZR2 is THE truck.... update: the release an app that finally let you use your map on which was my only complaint. 2.5 years and 38k miles still happy with my ZR2

The grey goose...
Gm quality control is still lacking. 100km and steering column honked like a goose while turning. Got that warrantied. Then at 700km had SOAKED floormat drivers side, after getting interior all ripped out, the AC wasnt plumbed out the fire wall, instead drained back into the cab(i told dealership that it might be the problem and they laughed, that wouldnt happen) well it did. I really want to love this truck, coming from an 08 frontier, its a little bigger, way more grunt(diesel) and handles like a truck not an 80's towncar and gets a whopping 35mpg on hwy. im hoping to just get the minor bugs out and it will be a solid truck....

Great truck but has one major flaw!
Purchased the 2020 Colorado V6 4x4 crew cab pickup with the heavy duty trailering package. I am very disappointed to find that it did not come with a brake controller. Chevrolet has an OEM brake controller but for some reason it does not come with the heavy duty trailering package and it cannot be added. Not impressed with having to purchase and mount an after market brake controller on my brand new truck! I am the shortest in my family at 5’10 so I can not afford to lose valuable leg room. Chevy has definitely failed it’s buyers with this ridiculous omission. When you purchase a heavy duty trailering package you’d expect it to either come with the brake controller or at least be able to add the OEM brake controller. I love my truck but I can tell you that I probably would not have purchased it had I realized it was missing this vital part of the heavy duty trailering package. Huge fail Chevy!!!

Best midsize truck
I really wanted a Tacoma, but everyone I drove I was really disappointed with. The Colorado is just such a better ride, and a better engine and transmission, and I’m not taking it off road at all so it was really hard to justify getting a Tacoma. I would love to see these Colorado’s earn a similar reputation for reliability as the Tacoma. For close to $40,000 they certainly should be built with high quality parts. I read a lot of reviews before making this purchase, after about 3000 miles here are my opinions: Pros: engine and transmission are awesome, the 8 speed shifts perfect, lots of tourque, it sounds great and just feels really strong. This is the best part of the truck, I’ve heard complaints about these transmissions but so far it’s been great. Interior is nice and easy to use and has more space then other mid size tricks, family of 4 plus a dog fit in it fine. So far I’ve had no issues with anything, everything operates just as it should and it’s very enjoyable to drive this truck. Cons: the seat is hard. It’s fine for around town but I’m worried about it on a long drive. I doesn’t have the resale of a Tacoma. Again I’d love to see these trucks earn a reputation similar to Toyota because i think it’s a great truck and I’ve always loved Chevy trucks.

Plane Jane
I purchased the 2019 Colorado w/t. Truck is bare minimum like what fleets buy. I could not be more pleased. It has the vinyl seats and no carpet. Seats are comfortable as far as roominess, I’m 6-2 and don’t feel cramped up. Seats are a little hard after a few hours of driving but that would be my only complaint. It is the 4 cylinder, some say it is way under powered but it does just fine for me. Heaviest thing I haul is 2 kayaks. Would recommend the v-6 if you are going to tow anything. It has the touch screen info center and back up camera. Power windows and locks. Great features for being the absolute base of base models. Easy to drive, much more maneuverable than my previous Silverado. Very happy with this Chevrolet.

Tranmission issues
Transmission has numerous issues. Irregular shifting when accelerating, decelerating, going up hills. If you don't come to complete stop and accelerate, the transmission bucks and feels like you missed a gear or two. Service representative called it a "skip shift" transmission as opposed to sequential gear transmission. Dealer states that GM designed the transmission this way and that is the way the 8 gear transmission functions. There is nothing that can be done to fix the problems. Worst transmission that I have had in numerous vehicles owned. Don't buy this vehicle or one that comes with an 8 gear transmission. Have lost confidence in GM and Gm products.

Great Truck
If you are a mid size person, this is a mid size truck for you. So far this truck has hauled for me effortlessly it has great power. I got a 2wd and it still goes great in the snow and I live in a place were the road's are bad in the winter "southeastern Ky". Up and down hills twisting curves. The trans seems a little stiff when it shifts if you drive aggressive. If you drive slow and normal it shifts great,. Great gas mileage 22mpg here in the mountains. I think its the best truck for this area.

Dream Truck
My 2019 Pacific Blue crew cab is everything I could want in a truck and then some. The interior room is incredibly spacious as a 6'3'' 230lb broad-shouldered man I really appreciate the comfort of the interior. I had the dealer install custom pearl white leather which makes it easier to clean and even more comfortable. This truck handles like a car, is ultra-smooth and coddling on the road and falls silent in the cabin while driving! Everything operates with simplicity in this truck and I feel confident to handle any maneuvering even with its great length. The model is a WT model but is loaded with conveniences including a power seat, best in class Apple Carplay, big screen, power windows, power locks, remote locks, and the tailgate even gently goes down by itself without slamming. With all these luxurious I saved tons of money not getting a high model (but that's fine if you want extra options or off road ready.) Which by the way I took my wife, dogs, and a bedful of outdoor equipment down some steep rocky trails down to the river here in the Texas Hill Country, and had full confidence and capability to conquer them all. It's our new adventure and truly a dream truck! :)

Nice looking truck!!
Purchased brand new 2020 WT from dealership in November. Two months and 7000km later the check engine light is flashing. Towed truck to dealer, 4 out of the 6 lifters in upper engine replaced. Question the longevity of the vehicle, Canada does not have lemon law.
Avoid the 8-speed 8L45 transmission
By any Colorado that doesn't use this transmission. Do an Internet search on GM 8-speed transmission problems. And I guarantee you will look by a GM product. I regret buying my 2020 Colorado due to the transmission problems. I should have done my research before buying:(
Great all around rig
A lot more insulation and and so much quieter than a Toyota. I have a 2019 CCSB 4x4. Size is great for me as I don't do a lot of towing/hauling. Power train has been flawless. love the blindspot mirror and lack of nanny technology. Update: now has 16k miles on it. No issues or problems. Still enjoying this truck and probably even more as it's pothole season.

Little Crush
We are used to having a full size truck but when we were in the market for a new vehicle I wanted to go to a mid sized SUV for the gas mileage. My wife did not want any part of that she wanted a truck end of story. We went to our local Chevy dealer and there she was a bright orange crew cab, Chevy's name for the color is Crush. But anyway we have had her for a bit over a year now and I can honestly say we are very pleased with the purchase. It has a beautiful ride like floating on air even on rough roads. The VVT V6 is very powerful, responsive and when I can keep the accelerator off the floor board it gets an impressive 26 to 27 MPG on the highway and around town its keeps between 18 and 20 MPG which is much better than the full size trucks we are used too. The interior is comfortable and the back seat has an impressive amount of leg room for a smaller truck. We did use it once to move my son to a new apartment and it did tow a fully loaded 6x12 enclosed trailer with it with no problem but the gas mileage goes to hell with a trailer on it. We were getting 11 MPG with the trailer so I would not want to use it to tow very much. Thankfully I have a Silverado 2500 which believe it or not it gets better gas mileage towing. All and all if your looking for a mid sized truck I like this one better than anything we looked at and we are very pleased with it. We put a hard folding bed cover on it so we have plenty of water tight trunk space probably more than most Mid sized SUV's.

Disappointed
Bought a 2019 LT 4X4 brand new. One year later and 3700 miles later, it has developed an electronic that neither my dealer or GM seems to be able to repair. At intermittent times, the doors unlock and lock again, and the transmission brings the truck almost to a crawl. The TCM has been replaced, but it still has its fits. Just beware if you are thinking about buying!

nimble midsize truck
this is a pickup truck so do not expect a cadillac ride. the suspension is stiff and the ride is a bit ruff. getting in as a 6 foot+ tall may cause a few bumps on the old noggin. the door frame could be 4 inches higher. the seats plastc trim will catch you and say hello on the way in. steering wheel is a bit low as well at the highest point you may still find it low. these are all minor items to me. now for the good stuff. the V6 is no slouch, then again i had nothing in the box either. road noise is not bad by any means. the interior layout is simple and if studied for a few minutes easily figured out. the radio volume buttons are behind the steering wheel which i find great as i just reach my fingers around. the radio seems to be a basic touchscreen but requires an onstar subscription for navigation. this is where you must not forget your gps or google maps if you are renting one for the weekend. the tailgate does have a lock on it to help avert theft. fuel mileage seems decent in the city i rented this for the weekend and i will only be adding about $14.00 worth of gas for the return to be full. overall i would consider purchasing one if the price was a bit lower. for this model V6 4 door crew LT the price is a bit to high. i can buy a low mileage used Full size for same price. GM needs to rethink this a bit perhaps a few less luxuries inside. power seat could be one deletion in lowering price and a more basic cd radio would be another. with engine technology what it is today perhaps an economy setting is in order as well.

Tops in it’s class
The ZR2 (without Bison package) is the best of the mid-sized pickups out there today. I’ve owned mine for a little more than a year and whether it’s on a muddy trail, snow/ice or just the highway, it’s supremely capable and comfortable. I average about 20 mpg combined and have gotten almost 24.5 mpg of steady highway. At various points in my life I have owned a Nissan Frontier Pro-4x, Tacoma Off-Road, etc and my ZR2 experience has been the best combination of on-road and off-road attributes of this truck segment!

Excellent all around truck
Have a 2019 Z71. Very well designed and built truck. Very good handling, Excellent maneuverability for a pickup. Well laid out dash, controls are easy to understand and use. The infotainment system works smoothly, nicely sized. Capabilities are very good. 1400 lbs payload and 7,000 lbs towing are more than enough for most people. Highly recomment

Surprisingly comfortable
We drove an LT long bed with the convenience and safety packages. The ride was good over bumpy rodes but better on the highway. We're disappointed that the safety package didn't have blind spot monitoring which should be included. Several other truck manufacturers have them as part of their packages. One item that has sprung up is the knob that switches the drive from 2wd to 4 wd. That is, we typically keep the drive button on auto, but it's easy to bump and change the drive without you knowing, and there isn't an indicator light that indicates the drive you are in that catches your eye.

Better now but IS it reliable for the long haul.?
My Colorado is a 2019 Work Truck trim with the V6 engine/8 spd transmission--NOT the model listed below......I've now had my 2019 Colorado for 14 months. In the beginning I had transmission, electrical, body mount, engine running problems and had to take this vehicle to 2 different dealership service depts to hopefully get it fixed right. I originally took my truck to my selling dealer's service dept in which they kept it for 7 days and never fixed it correctly...NOT happy at all with AutoNation's service department in North Richland Hills TX as they returned this vehicle to me WITH the check engine light still illuminated and trans problems galore, then the service advisor wanted me to bring it back in for another 2-3 weeks of testing and diagnostics.!! REALLY..?? Whos paying for this truck...this dealer or myself.?? When I took my vehicle out of state to another dealer's service department they fixed it CORRECTLY and also did the TSB for the new transmission fluid, then returned my vehicle back to me WITHIN 72 business hours, and they even gave me a loaner which was a better vehicle than my Colorado.!!. Since then (July 2019) the truck has run exceptionally well which is what I expected from the beginning. A model thats been in production for 5 years before I came along and bought one should be free of ANY defects from the manufacturer as they had plenty of time t get these above mentioned things remedied BEFORE I waited 29.5 years to buy another new Chevy truck. I took my Colorado out on it's first wilderness camping vacation in August of 2019 and it surprised me on how well it ran and it's V6/8 spd transmission gas mileage is unheard of from any other customer I talked to or read about (36.4 to 41.5 mpg on the highway). My truck when FINALLY fixed correctly by Mike Hellack Chevrolet in Davis, OK ran better than I expected, it did everything I asked it to and with flying colors at that.! So......for now I'm a happier owner but still mad at the selling dealer for NOT being able to fix this vehicle correctly when in fact an out of state dealer was able to fix it correctly. I wonder WHY that is..?? Would I recommend this vehicle to others....I would say YES, BUT WITH RESERVATIONS as it remains a mystery as to how long this vehicle will remain trouble free for the long haul.

GM Enginners Blew It
The Main thing I Wish I had realized on a 10 minute test drive and the Dealers won't tell you is that on the 2019 Colorado & Canyon they removed half the padding out of the Drivers seat to "Make it easier to get in & out" But if you take a 30 minute drive it feels like a 1/2 inch board burying up in your thigh. I bought one two months ago and it had 1500 miles on it and I traded it off because the seat was so uncomfortable.. and when I compared it to the passenger seat it is about half as thick..I was going to take it back to the Dealer but I found a GM Tech Link Page that says that is the way it is designed so no repairs will be done...here is the Link to the Page.... I don't want anybody else make the same mistake I did.... [HTML removed]

Maybe ok as long as you don't tow anything
Many people find that they have to replace the torque converter after doing any towing. The truck is rated for 7000lbs of towing and I towed a 4500lb trailer on flat terrain with one. It ruined my transmission after very light use. My first transmission went out after 15000 miles. Anyway, I dumped it and will never buy another Chevy again.

To Many Problem !!
After one week of having truck screws fell out from under the dash. Also the information center was having static in the radio. Could not connect to wi-fi in truck, called on star they said info was not working right . Transmission when you put in Drive or Reverse makes a loud clunking noise. Then when you go to take off trans will down shift then upshift . When in traffic it has loss of accerlation and shifts up and down to much. Also noise coming from front end, you hit a bump feels like something loose under truck. Driver seat feels like the springs are already popping. To much plastic in truck . We have had truck for 4 months. Will never buy a Chevy again. Also one more thing General Motors says that it is normal for the transmission to shift hard.

Less than zero
Been fighting with Chevrolet and autonation since I picked up my Colorado. Radio (head unit) is defective. Some days it works but most of the time it doesn't. Autonation says "nothing they can do about it " Been going on for over a year. Contacted Chevrolet but they aren't doing anything for over a year now, run away from Chevrolet products, warranty not worth the paper it's written on, just trying to get it fixed good enough to trade it off, but other dealers won't give me anything for it because it's obvious it's got serious problems. RUN AWAY from Chevrolet! Autonation and Chevrolet are worthless!

I only got my 2019 colorado in April i had the truck in for issues than paying my payments there ia a hugh issues with the leak spring the rear of the truck sounds and feels so horriable i first was told thats normal who would in the right mind pay over 30k for a truck that sounds and runs so horribly its bangs ever bumps or turn you can hear inside and outside of truck. I had issues with screen and radio going black and not working, brakes loud on backing up and shuttering while idling i would of never purchase this truck i test drove it this didnt happen until arohnd 300 miles now has 5000 mikes and still not fix i been waiting for over 2 months
Stay Away
Stay away from the V-6 with the 8 speed transmission there are problems with the torque converter shuddering!!! GM to date has no known repair for this issue. Other than that issue, I really like the truck.

Its a good truck that has flaws
GM/Chevy built a decent truck but decided to simply miss the mark with the Fuel system and technology items. I drive the truck daily. I use MP3's and have found the audio system poorly functioning. Between random changes on my play order or simply not functioning until l restart the truck. It seems like they never tried what they programmed before sending it to market. The ability to upgrade the firmware has a real bottle necks as well. As for the fuel system, the cap-less design is far from a good thing. I have never experienced a fuel system where I could not fill my tank as you would normally. At first I thought the reason I was running out of fuel so fast (at least the fuel light coming on) was because the sending unit was saying I was out of fuel before I really was. I was only getting a few hundred miles per fill up. After leaving my car at the factory on my own dime for the rental, GM came back to tell me it was my problem and sent me instructions on how to fill my tank. If you read the forums you can find its a issue with their design. Plan on taking extra time to spoon feed the tank. GM chooses to put there head in the sand on this one. Many have said the problem is with back pressure shutting pumps off before your tank is filled. The truck says it has a 20.6 gall tank. You get far less (12 to 15) in before the pump will stop. I am less then impressed with GM and Chevy on there lack of honesty. Truck works fine as a truck. Nothing bad about the performance or mechanics. Conveniences are more of inconveniences though.

Steering column rubbing noise is horrible
I purchased this vehicle new and was excited as I had never had a truck but always wanted one. I took it back to the dealership on numerous occasions and was so frustrated when they said they had to hear it. I videotaped the steering wheel and the noise…..then, “we have to be able to duplicate it.” It’s to the point of total frustration. I had an email from the dealership asking if there was anything they could do for me and I requested that they fix the problem with my 2020 Colorado. Unfortunately we can’t do anything unless we can duplicate the noise but we will be happy to sell you a new vehicle……..Great.

ZR2 Update...don't buy!
Update: 7/15/21: Nothing really new to report, the truck continues to be a money pit...just replaced all 4 tires (<35K Miles), with regular maintenance and rotations, consistently drops out of alignment ($200.00 for a 4-wheel alignment) With the used car market on fire right now, both Carvana and Vroom have offered me more than I paid for it...so its going to the glue factory...as one of the reporters her says "Don't waste your money". Update 1/14/21: Well, not the truck I thought it was...the local dealer here is a total ripoff, The truck has need maintenance after maitneance, and all has been little irritating stuff, the transmission fluid was finally replaced, now it shifts instead vibrating...during the visit I was told one of my taillight bulbs was out, and to my surprise a $6.23 bulb cost $84.00 dollars to replace, Chevy is nuts! I purchased my ZR2 that last day of May with a ton of incentives...I had been shopping for a new truck for a while, and I too had been a loyal Tacoma owner (3 previous) and I test drove a couple of the Tacoma's and to get the same capabilities as the ZR2 I had to step up to the TRD PRO...and in all honesty, it wasn't even close, ride quality, craftsmanship, capability and drivers seating position where all well below the ZR2. I was really impressed with the quality of the ZR2 it feels expensive and the ride is indescribably good...way better than the Tacoma. If I were king at Chevy the things I would improve are: Gas Mileage, Interior Trim, and add a Manual Transmission, the 8 speed auto is OK...sometimes has a hard time finding the right gear. Overall value and capability are much better than the Tacoma...Toyota take note! Update: 1/13/2020 well its been almost a year now, and my review is about the same, the truck is very reliable, it has only been in for service once. We took several long trips this year and the truck was extremely comfortable. As a first time Chevy buyer Im pretty impressed! Will consider the ZR2 again when I purchase, if its still available. 1 Year Later (July 2020): Well, its been ok, the quality just isn't there, the transmission is terrible...between 45 and 65 miles an hour...it doesn't want to downshift, it wants to stay in the overdrive gear, and it makes the trunk run terrible, I'm hoping that chevy can product a software update to help with the shifting? Cool truck...would I buy it again, nope! Maintenance cost a pretty high (at least her in VA), I had the wipers replaced and it cost $75.00 - WTH? Will be returning to Toyota as soon as the new FJ Cruiser is released...sorry Chevy nice try, but no cigar! Still junk...not worth the price by a mile, if you really need a 4X4 with awesome capability...spend the extra money and get the Ford Raptor-there's a reason its the worlds best off road truck. Again sorry Chevy will be leaving the family soon...hurry up Toyota want my new FJ!

The truck I hate to love
I love the size, power, functionality, and fuel economy of my 2019 Chevy Colorado 2WD Crew Cab Diesel. Unfortunately, Chevy just doesn't build a great reliable vehicle any more. Fit and finish is cheap and reliability has been terrible. At just over 33k miles the truck developed a highway speed shudder. 4 trip to the garage and a new transmission later it is still not fixed. At 37k miles the entire infotainment system just stopped working, dead. Just outside the warrantee period means it is a $1,200 replacement. Since having the transmission replaced the fuel mileage has decreased by 3 or 4 MPG on the highway as well. It is really unfortunate to have these issues as I really love the size, power, and function of this truck. I would buy another one if I knew it would be reliable, until then, I am looking at something else.

2019 PROBLEMS AND DESIGN FLAWS
Shudder and low gas mileage within 2000 miles. It's been a problem for many 2019 Colorados. The factory transmission fluid needs to be flushed and replaced by the dealer. Some engineer really messed up. The flare side fender for the rear wheels catch just about every drop of mud and rocks on the highway thrown from the front tires. The truck needs a serious mud flap redesign. The front bumper and grill need some serious design do overs also. The current design is great for catching tons of bugs and even birds and plastering them onto the radiator cooling fins. Also, when you wash the radiator from the front, you might notice a stink that doesn't seem to ever go away. That's because the Colorado has a rubber guard or air seal under and in front of the radiator that keeps all of the bugs piled up. You cannot wash them out!! When I finally half removed the guard on my Colorado (10,000 South Louisiana miles), I washed out about a 1/2 gallon of decaying bugs, birds, and sort of a compost mud. The only thing missing were the maggots. When you roll down the passenger side rear window at 55 mph or faster, your eardrums just might be sucked out of your head and the back glass just may blow out if you don't put the window back up quickly. The paint job is really thin and not protected with any kind of paint guard. The tailgate catches a lot of road grime, dirt, and even road tar. This is the worst vehicle I've ever had for keeping it clean.

Bluetooth is useless
Im at 22k miles in,the truck has performed well. The only issue is a big inconvenience. Unless you're wired to carplay your phone completely silent to any thing but incoming calls. Dealer tried to fix it and in the end said it was a safety feature. This is obviously incorrect or they would have known about it upfront. For someone who spend a lot of time driving for work, this is a BIG inconvenience.

Solid truck
I'm very pleased with my 2019 Colorado, gas mileage is much better than my previous Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma. Internal storage isn't great with a tiny glove box and the doors do well to hold a bottle of water. Only problem Ive encountered is the turn signal occasionally does not make a sound when engaged however the signal does continue to work. Handling is very good and highway noise is very quiet. Perhaps at some point Chevrolet will update the headlights. I purchased my 2019 model new and would buy again however as previously mentioned the old school headlights need to be upgraded if chevy wants to remain competitive as does inside cargo space.
