BEST ELECTRICAL VEHICLE VALUE
On May 21st, I purchased my first electric vehicle, a red Chevy Bolt and have driven about 400 miles thus far. After doing considerable research I narrowed all the options down to two choices. The Kia EV6 was my first choice and the Chevy Bolt was my second more practical choice. After consulting various dealerships, the difference in cost is what persuaded me. Out the door, the EV6 would cost over $60K and the Bolt costed approximately $40K. BUYING EXPERIENCE My experience was all EVs were selling fast and getting more expensive. In fact, the day that I arrived at the dealer, five new Bolts had just arrived and 3 of them were sold that same day. I wanted the Red Color in the 1LT trim and bought one even if it did not have all the bells and whistles. It still comes with lots of great standard features. I have been making use of the lane keep assist functionality. I read that Chevy lowered the price $6,000 for the 2023 model, which is AMAZING! I highly recommend reading the manual in order to familiarize oneself with all the instrument cluster icons, `infotainment features, and safety guidelines of this vehicle. There is a lot of information to digest. APPEARANCE I LOVE my car! There are few electric vehicles or hybrids that I find easy on the eyes and I need to like the way that my vehicle looks. AMBIENCE The visibility in all four quadrants (front, sides, back) is excellent. The buttons to control radio volume, air-conditioning, and other accessories are generally where you would expect them as opposed to a central screen that forces you to take your eyes off the road. It has plenty of room for trinkets and four cupholders (two front, two back). It has a USB A and USB C charging port for one’s devices. It seats 4 adults comfortably, 5 may be a bit of a squeeze. Rear legroom and headroom are good. Unfortunately, there are no rear passenger air vents so it may take a little longer for temperatures in the rear seats to become comfortable in the summer and winters. The seats are very comfortable. There is much more room inside than one would anticipate at first glance. One also sits higher off the ground than they might expect. It does not feel cheap. When one closes the car doors, they feel substantial. CARGO SPACE I do not have measurements in cubic feet but I find it be adequate but on the small side. There also is no frunk. Like most EVs, there is no spare tire. CHARGING It takes about 7 hours with a Level 2 (240 V) charger to charge the battery from empty to full. At a glance there is a light on the upper dashboard that will blink green when the car is charging or turn solid green when the car is fully charged. The frequency of the blinking light provides an indication of the battery charge level. DRIVING It is so quiet at startup, sometimes I'm not quite sure if it is on. I am happy with the audio system and love the wide backup camera view. It accelerates very nicely. The ride is very smooth. The Bolt can recover energy either via a paddle shifter on the steering column, depressing the brake pedal, or selecting One Pedal Driving Mode. As the name implies, depressing the accelerator pedal will cause the vehicle to accelerate while relaxing the pressure on the pedal will cause the car to decelerate as if one were pressing on the brake. One Pedal driving Mode takes a little getting use to but it feels very natural now and is what I typically use. The paddle shifters is a bit more aggressive in slowing the car down than One Pedal Driving. There also is Sport Mode which makes the car even more responsive at the expense of battery endurance. Thus far, I’ve found Normal mode to be quite sufficient. FREEWAY DRIVING Merging onto the freeway is not a problem at all. With the instantaneous torque, there is little need to push the pedal to the floor besides the fun factor. At this point in time, EVs are lacking in range compared to their internal combustion engine (ICE) counterparts. It has an advertised range of about 260 miles but this can vary up or down based on a number of factors. On the freeway, it is best to drive the Bolt close to the speed limit in order to maximize efficiency and range. The Bolt is most efficient at 55 mph and tends to become less efficient starting around 70 mph. I read that the max speed is 93 mph but driving at these higher speeds for a prolonged period of time will quickly drain the battery. The fastest that I have driven is 80 mph and the car accelerated smoothly and felt solid at this speed. This was not an attempt to ‘max it out’ but rather I was late for an appointment and it is common for the flow of traffic on the freeway to be around 75-85 mph. GENERAL EV ADVICE 1) Have a game plan for how you will charge your vehicle. The ideal solution would be for your home to have solar panels and your own Level 2 charger. 2) Projected EV range is sensitive and is affected by your climate control settings within the car, external temperature (cold is worse than hot) and winds, terrain type (hills vs. level ground), and speed driven.

A Bolt from the Blue
The new Bolt EV lives up to its billing. It is comfortable, nimble, and beautiful. Mine is a new color for the year, Ice Blue metallic. The 2022 Bolt retains all the good features of previous years while fixing or updating previous years' features or problems. The cockpit, especially the dashboard, has a cleaner, unified look built around a larger central screen. The confusing "shifter" has been replaced by simple paddle buttons recessed into the center console. Audio volume controls are surprisingly banished to the back side of the steering wheel where the fingers easily find and use them while never seeing them! The steering wheel is flattened at the bottom, which makes entering and leaving the vehicle easier. All the comfort and auxiliary functions are collected in a modest row of paddle switches below the screen. Charging routinely yields an indicated 268 potential miles. Gratifyingly, at non-interstate speeds and around town, the indicated miles turn out to be real, although obviously interstate driving can gobble up those potential miles. In all, the 2022 Bolt is a big car on the inside and a small car on the outside. It's really fun to drive, especially in S mode, which replaces the previous Low mode, allowing One-Pedal driving; in hilly terrain, it's a joy to see the miles expended going uphill being returned numerically to the potential miles!

Fun Little Package!
I have had this car for a little over a month now and have to say that I really do enjoy it! I traded in a 2016 Volvo S60, which I loved, for this Chevy Bolt. I was looking to get away from the VERY expensive maintenance costs that European vehicles have. It is definitely not a sexy car, but when you're buying an EV, I don't necessarily know if sexy is the look you're going for: it's par for the course. A nice bonus I have enjoyed has been the $500 EVGo credits that Chevy gives you if you opt out of the Level2 charger installed in your home. I don't have a house, so the charge credits were the obvious answer for me. I have not had to put any money into charging it since it doesn't cost too much to charge. Again, I have had the vehicle for a little over a month and I still have almost $480 credits--and that's with 2 out-of-town trips! There are some minor build quality issues--nothing too crazy, just things I have noticed coming from a luxury car. For example, the glossy black acrylic they have on the paneling in the car is a magnet for dust and scratches. The car is a lot of fun to drive and a breeze park--especially with the 360 degree camera. I live in downtown Omaha, Nebraska and haven't had a single issue finding somewhere to charge my car. I am just curious to see how it fares in the colder, snowy weather. If you are looking for an inexpensive, decently appointed EV, I think the Bolt deserves serious consideration. The only other EV I have driven was a Tesla Model 3, but I think the driving experience was similar--especially with the one pedal driving. The interior is very spacious, so unless you're hauling lumber, it should suit most drivers' needs. If you're curious, give it a go! I don't think I can go back to a gas-powered vehicle after this.

You Won’t Believe It When You Drive It!
I have owned at least 25 new cars in my life. I currently have a Corvette, an Escalade ESV, 2 Jeeps, a Van and older Cadillacs. So, I’m a car nut…When I decided to get an EV, I looked at a Tesla and found the interior so boring and the outside so plain, I passed. However, with the Bolt EV. I’m addicted! NEVER have I driven a car like this. First of all, the price. I picked up a 2023 1LT for $17,800 ($7,500 federal credit and $4,000 NJ tax credit) WITH NO STATE SALES TAX - NJ!!!! Chevy also covered $1,500 for a home Level 2 charger. I had to kick in another $500. What an incredible value for a new car - $18,300 all in! Now, putting the money aside, I would have paid full price for the car if I had to. Here’s why: I opted for the 1LT for only one reason - cloth seats. I do not like leather seats. These cloth seats are super comfortable. In the cold weather, they heat up nearly instantly and actually get TOO hot after just a few minutes. In the summer, your skin doesn’t burn like on leather seating. I can drive for hours and am very comfortable. Another thing - the car is very roomy. I am 5’10” and can fully stretch my legs up front. People riding in the back seat are amazed at how much room there is. Ride: the car weighs nearly 3,700 pounds. The ride is incredible. So quiet and smooth. I can compare the ride to my Escalade. And, in some respects it is better. The acceleration and handling is unbelievable. Every time I start the car, I engage the Boost mode. I have beaten Porches, Corvettes and Mercedes off the line. The power just keeps coming with no shifting delay. Just amazing. I have so much fun driving my little racing sportster around. And yet, on the highway, you can do 70 and more with confidence. You feel like you’re in a much bigger and heavier car. Again, so quiet and smooth. Also, the Regenerative One Pedal mode lets me just lay off the accelerator to slow the car down. I hardly EVER use the brakes. And, I actually stop at Stop signs because the car does it for me. I doubt I’ll ever have to replace the brakes on this car - never use them… MPG: my Bolt reached a range of 279 miles per charge. Sometimes it’s a little less. With the level 2 charger, I can get a 37 mile charge every hour. So, I pull in my garage, plug her in for an overnight charge and she’s ready in about 1-2 hours on an average day. No gas station, no oil changes. I love it! I have calculated the Bolt gets 120mpg equivalent. So, I pay about $.50 cents a gallon equivalent. Oh - the electric company gives me a discounted rate for charging overnight - $.09 per KWH. The efficiency of this vehicle is excellent, considering its power. Basically, the car pays for itself with the gas saved on about 12,000 mile per year. BTW, the Battery has an 8 year/100,000 mile warranty. Interior: Heated steering wheel, awesome deep sounding radio, Apple Car Play with a 10 inch screen - the reverse view is in HD - so fantastic. The heat and AC are instantaneous. I even leave them on when I go to Doctor or shopping for an hour or less. Then, I get back into a nice cooled or heated car - cool!. The inside of the car looks like a regular car, with button, knobs and displays all in the right places. Seems so much better to me than the completely bland Tesla interior with that massive, distracting screen. The trunk is small, but with the back seat down, I’ve fit a bicycle in there. As for the exterior, some don’t like it at all. But, I think it looks cool for a small car. I could go on and on about the Bolt EV. In summary, I’m in love with this car. I drive it every chance I can. Chevy did an amazing job. So much so, I have another one on order! Grab one while you can. For $20k, it’s a winner!!

2023 EV - Bricked in 2 months.
Weird computer issues followed by complete shutout of car. Lights are on, doors that are locked won't unlock, multiple error messages (8-10) displayed until the car just died. It won't charge or start (has a 75% charge remaining) and app tells me the abs system needs service. Towing rescue services are an hour late as of this writing. Tower won't answer their phone and my request to speak to a live Chevy representative put me on endless hold with no answer or text back. I only charge with the provided at home charger, and a qualified electrician provided by Chevy did the installation. I bought the car Jan 2023.

Full electric now!
been driving a Fiat500 pop and aFiat500e, using the electric around town and the gas for trips. I am 55 miles from a gas station in Death Valley. This was to find out if electric car was feasible. And oh yeah it is! I now have only one car and it will get to Vegas and back on a charge, will never see me at a gas station again. The car can be set for 8 amps or up to 12 based on the 110 charger. The one from chevy is 11.5 and my old after market is 8.5 they both work and the 11.5 is a lot faster but not really necessary. I can do 90 miles a day 5 days a week no problem on the 8.5 and I don't plug the car in till its been in the garage for at least an hour to cool. ( Its still summer and 120+ right now ) . This is way better then I expected and it will charge even faster once it cools off. the difference between a 2017 electric car and a 2022 is just amazing I really like this car it drives so smooth even on dirt roads.

Lasted only 5 months - LEMON!
Bought this Bolt EV in June, 2023 with only 5400 miles on it. Comfy seats, fun to drive, great EV range and loved the cargo storage. In November (9600 miles), the steering started locking up. Dealer says it needs a new steering column (at less than 10,000 miles!!). None in stock, nationwide part shortage, no ETA on parts - has been sitting at dealership for two months now. Planning to file a Lemon Law claim and avoid GM cars in the future.

Very good but some glitches
Overall this is great car for the money, calculate it out and it may pay for itself within a number of years considering likely gas price hikes. Great acceleration, braking, range, visibility... It is one of the cheaper EVs and there are some problems - Back hatch latch is plastic instead of metal. Frontmost panel seems slightly recessed compared to other side. When hitting lock on remote it doesn't beep at you if a door is open!! Also the onstar/mychevy api doesn't work anymore, even the official app for it it asks you to log in every time you open it. Without a wrench you can't get to the 12v battery within the front compartment to connect tire pump or other accessory directly. Not 4wd but front wheel drive should be much better in snow/ice than other rwd EVs.

Value Plus, no other EV comes close
I just bought the 23' EUV premier, chevy dropped the price by 6k, and the tax incentives were 9500, and chevy is paying for my level 2 charger, $1250. W my solar panels my gas station in my garage and the sun fuels my car. If that's not enough, between the sun and sound pkg and hands free driving technology this car is off the charts at this price. Yes, long charging times for long trips, over 500 miles, is really the only feature that I don't like. Take the time to compare this to other cars in this price range, I think you'll agree.
Propulsion Power Reduced
With 205 miles driven, Propulsion Power Reduced message came on and propulsion was reduced to 30 miles per hour. Bigger vehicles with bright lights let me know what I had already concluded: sudden deceleration to 30 miles per hour in heavy traffic is dangerous. OnStar diagnostic confirmed Propuision problem could only be remedied by immediate service at dealership. Complete failure at 211 miles

It's like driving the future.
Our new 2022 Bolt EV is solid, gets good range, has comfortable seats, handles well (I like to drive), is quiet, has plenty of passenger room, and its Regen function often adds miles to the range unless going uphill. The bright blue metallic paint is beautiful.

4.75 stars to be exact. Let me explain...
Amazing vehicle. Creature comfort and reliability. No rang anxiety here. 200+ miles in warmer months up to the 260 miles quoted. Up to 200 miles in frigid cold. Yeah I'll take that any day. Honestly, how many miles can your car go on 3 gallons of gas? Yep, that's the energy equivalent of a Bolt EV. 3 gallons of gas for 260 miles range on the top end. Great drive, 1 pedal driving, and just fun to drive. 2nd EV owned and for sure a better choice than 100 mile range smaller EVs made for Sunday drivers and inner city folk.

Love the car but SO many extra charges!
Buyer beware, this is a nice little electric car. However, the fees add up! Chevrolet only gives you a credit of $1000 to have a third party upgrade your electrical panel & install the new charger. I was hit with a $3500.00 bill for this that was totally unexpected. And that was without being able to bring the charger to our garage! (We chose half the distance so it would be less expensive.) Chevy sales team should have informed me.

Zippy
I was skeptical, but I love the bolt. It’s fast and efficient. I love passing gas stations. The controls make sense (unlike the Tesla). One pedal diving is very cool. It’s like a semi-cruise control thing. Good driving experience. Saves me money (especially with dang gas at $4.10 and rising! Ridiculous!!!).

MY BOLT EV CONTINUES TO SHOCK PEOPLE! (Loving it)
I've owned Mercedes, BMWs, a mini van, large Ford Trucks, small Japanese vehicles, a Mustang, a Blazer, a VW Bug, a GTI, a hot RS Audi and a Land Rover. The 2023 Chevrolet Bolt 2LT has gone further past my expectations then any other vehicle I have owned. Each of my friends, and I, that have driven the car are blown away by the accelerations, roominess, superior ride height, headroom for us 6'2"+ tall guys, dashboard layout, high resolution 10.2" display, storage space, 360 degree visibility, low drag coefficient, church mouse silence, arrow-straight tracking on the highway, gigantic outside mirrors, stylish swirl design wheels and myriad of thoughtful appointments (like LED front/rear lights, front sequential turn signals, bodacious sounding audio system with decent sub-woofer, and much more). I couldn't help but hole shoot some performance cars and even one performance cycle from the red light being someone that grew up with much time spent at the drag strips around Washington DC. Were they visibly upset that this granny-looking, egg-shaped sleeper waxed them? Yes. And from 25 mph, this thing takes off like a jack rabbit. Having 100% torque from 0 RPM produces an feeling of performance that is unheard of from a $32,000 car (that's before subtracting Federal EV tax credits and Chevrolet's tossing in $1,000 towards my home Level-2 charger). So essentially for $25,000 I have a hot hatch that blows the doors off of unsuspecting Dodge Charger Scat Paks and other so-called super cars. I drive this car conservatively most times, but knowing I have a mini rocket ship is sure gratifying ... LoL! On occasional 300 mile trips, ok, sure, the charger is slow but not painfully so. I'll charge up two times and get to my destination with no sweat and could easily do it with one charge to 90% ... and arrive at my destination with at least 40-60 miles of range left. So all these people comparing this little gem with Tesla Model 3 vehicles can keep doing so. The front wheel drive is very controllable and the cab-forward design maximizes the wheelbase length and thus the riding comfort. There is nothing out here that compares with what you get for your money with a Bolt EV. I see no reason to purchase a Bolt EUV that is 6 inches longer and weighs more. The EV's lighter weight simply lets me embarrass supercars that much more. Yeah, they'll catch up with me eventually, but I am laughing so hard at how upset they were that it doesn't matter. Everyone can keep punching holes in this car and criticize the fires it had years ago ... plus the slower onboard 55Kw charger, but I don't care. Even the used ver 1.0 Bolts that have had the batteries exchanged by Chevrolets recall now have an excellent vehicle. I've driven 2019 Bolts and I am just as impressed as with my 2023. So all you procrastinators can continue to rack your minds over whether this is a good choice while I am having a ball with this fine vehicle. Oh it doesn't have a frunk ... and oh it doesn't have access to the Tesla SuperCharger network (for now) and so forth, but in the meanwhile I am having no problems charging at public Level-3 charging stations, no problem with range and no problem having a lot of fun driving this micro beast.

My first ever Chevy and I'm impressed!
While it took me weeks and many dealer inquiries to actually find an available Bolt 2LT, the effort was worth it. This is my first electric and I couldn't be more pleased so far. It's comfortable, well appointed, well made and I'm getting more range than I expected. Perfect car for the nearby trips I make and expect I'll do 90% of my charging at home. Having owned the Bolt EV for almost 6 months now, my original review stands. This is an outstanding EV, especially so at the price. Has all the options I need/want in the 2LT version, and I've been averaging over 300 miles on a charge since I don't do a lot of highway driving in this car. It's perfect for local trips and I've very confidently taken it on 200 mile round trips. I charge almost exclusively at home, so the slower charge rate is no issue. I set it to charge at night when rates are cheapest and the car is easily fully charged in the morning. Chevy made a good decision to update this car and not discontinue it. After a year of ownership I continue to love this vehicle use it daily. Have had no issues at all, and am averaging 4.8mpKWH which is much more than expected. On a full charge I typically get just over 300 miles. Only limitation is charging time, but except for two times I've only charged it overnight at home and don't use it for extended trips.

Very Impressed!
I rented and drove my first electric car last week and it was the 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EV. Needless to say, I was very impressed with the vehicle. The ride was smooth and the inside is spacious. The slow time of charging was very disappointing. Not alot of trunk space. The car had good pick-up speed for a small car. When you start the car, you hear no sounds, so I thought the car did not start.

1st EV...GOOD CATCH
This is my first EV so I have nothing to compare it to in that category. Even so, the longer I have this 2023 Bolt EV the happier I feel that I have it. It's pretty new and low mileage so as expected has no repair needs or problems at this time. It has good lengthy warranties included with the purchase (much less worry) and trial music & connection options to choose and try. Driving it is so easy and very quickly feels just right. Lots of safety features built in so l feel more comfortable when out in traffic. Not crazy about the cup holders in the center console, somehow they seem inconveniently placed, in the way, although wouldn't want to not have them. There are also roomy door pockets for drinks and whatever. The seats feel comfortable enough, easily adjustable. I really like the 'regen' braking feature! I don't do alot of driving miles but with this feature sometimes it seems like i didn't go anywhere, according to battery charge and estimated remaining miles left, after I return. I haven't discovered anything in the 6 weeks I've had this car that causes me to regret this purchase. On the contrary, the longer I have it, the more I discover is included here in this vehicle, including convenience and entertainment options, the happier I am to have found this Bolt EV. This first time EV buyer would recommend this vehicle and definitely buy again.
The future is now!
My wife and l love the Bolt. We had 2 Volts before this car. We commute 50 miles a day and have to drive the same for shopping. This car exceeded its published range by over 30 miles when driven home over 160 miles cruising 70-75 with A/C on. It still showed over 120 available. Lots of space and features, a very roomy car, super quiet and quick in traffic.

Compact, quiet, & easy to drive.
This is my first EV. I am a senior who needed a small, mainly city-driven, car for errands and short trips. Have only been driving it for a few weeks and like the feel and ease of its performance but HATE, HATE, HATE not having a traditional gear shift or parking brake. These tabs / buttons on the console are a huge nuisance. You have to literally look down every time you want to change gears. This is especially annoying when you are trying to shimmy into a parking space that might require several changes of direction. With a stick shift, you could 'feel' what gear you're in without looking down. I'm sure many manufacturers are following suite with all these unnecessary changes in technology so their latest models will look 'cool' and inventive. If it ain't broke -- don't fix it!

Bolt owner for 25 months
My wife and I think this car is great. Yes, it took GM too long to resolve the battery issue, but frankly the loss of range by charging up to 80% of battery capacity would not affect us except on very long trips. We love the regenerative braking and the relatively simple controls. The vehicle handles well enough and we have found a level 2 charger at home is no hassle and a great money saver. The seats are quite comfortable. We also have a 2019 Prius Prime (plug in hybrid). We substantially prefer our Bolt.

perfect commute car. Reliable, nice ride, good pick up, and good technology. I live in cold and that is a draw back.
The Bolt is amazing
We've been wanting to get this car since it came out, and did thanks to the new $7500 Inflation Reduction Act subsidies. Great 259-mile range for a car of its type, great acceleration, handling and safety features, union made in the USA. No $5 a gallon gas that's fueling our climate disasters. Friends who've bought it have loved it and we've loved riding in the car with them. It's just a fantastic vehicle and so glad that Chevy will continue it's production because it's becoming the affordable alternative EV and deservedly so.

Great little EV - and very affordable
We bought a slightly used Bolt EUV last fall and we love it. I think it has a better ride than my brother in law's Tesla Y. We wanted something small, but this car is very roomy for the footprint. More back seat legroom than most cars. Take a test drive, you won't regret it.

Super Quiet & Quick too
Living in AZ, we bought our Bolt from Victorville Chevrolet in Victorville, CA. We drove it 203 miles home & it was great! Plenty of power on the highway and very quiet. The seats are comfortable, and the cabin is well appointed. Of course, after only one day of ownership, my review is based on very little experience with the car, but so far, I am very impressed!

small but great!!!
my first time owning an electric car and couldn't be happier. I find no or little range stress especially when you consider that the range is half a tank of gas in an ice vehicle ,plenty for me. i find it great to drive and very comfortable driving. my only complaint is seat is a little narrow could be about an inch or two wider. i've only owned 3 months but so far all is good.

Betty the Bolt
This is a fun car to drive with tons of acceleration. It gets better miles per charge than the factory claims it will get. This car gets 309 miles per charge with the new batteries installed. The latch on the hatchback failed and we had to wait over a half year to get the new latch from GM. We love this car but haven't charged it on the road only at home. We don't plan on using this car for long distance travel.

2023 Chevy Bolt: First-rate.
Excellent agility, handling, quick acceleration, braking, and interior comfort. 2LT also has first-rate safety/parking convenience features, including wrap-around 360 camera. Simple, user-friendly interior controls. Very pleased with this vehicle--easily the best I've ever owned for my mostly city driving. Just need to allow more time for longer road trips.

Well Done!!
This Chevrolet Bolt EV is a fantastic car at the right price-point. Great quality overall, fun to drive, impressive range for the price! Hopefully, Chevrolet will continue manufacturing this EV or similar EV cars going forward. Finally, a terrific EV at an affordable price. We are delighted with this car and would highly recommend it! For potential buyers, there are 2 options that we would recommend to most buyers - the infotainment upgrade and the adaptive cruise control.
