2025 Cadillac XT6 Consumer Reviews

Surprisingly roadworthy performance
Simpler design for Cadillac compared to others but well proportioned make this an elegant design overall and easy on the eyes. Driving dynamics exceeded my expectations for Cadillac. Feels more like BMW on the road. Does not feel or look plastic or cheap in anyway. Interior may not be top of class but well executed and hits all the marks for luxury SUV. V6 has plenty of power and quicker than most in class. Power is smooth and seamless with 9 speed tranny. 0-60 in just over 6 seconds puts a smile on your face-Wow. This SUV deserves a second look in the premium luxury version. Auto critics way to harsh I think, because the design is simpler than what is usually expected from Cadillac. Once you drive it you'll think differently. This one is a winner. The blue with cirrus white interior is best of the bunch. Lots of tech and creature comforts Cadillac is known for-a big plus.

Valve Body Issues - Failed Transmission
The valve body failed within a month of owning my vehicle. Paid $65,300 for a car that broke down before my first car payment was due. They ordered a new transmission because the valve body was not in production due to GM being in the middle of negotiations for a company to produce the part. I am now left with a car payment on a car I haven't driven in a month with no expected date on the actual valve body replacement being available. A new transmission is also not available.

Enjoying the 2022 XT6
I like the comfort and style of the interior. I have the premium luxury trim level. Great sound with the Bose 14 speaker system. I added the technoology package which has nice added features. The ride is smooth and i dont mind the manual adjustment from 2wd to AWD or sport mode. I like that the touch screen is built into the dash and not exposed like most vehicles today.

MAJOR Transmission problems
The center gear for the drive shaft when completely dead while driving the car at only 2,000 miles. Stopped the car and the black center shift was completely dead. Car had to be towed away. Center gear shift was completely replaced. Then it happened again , same thing while driving on I 75 the center gear shift when completely dead , this time at 7,000 miles. Car had to be towed and Cadillac had to completey replace the center gear shift for the second time. VERY DANGEROUS. almost got hit by another car.. STAY away from this vehicle. my wife feels very unsafe in this vehicle and will no longer drive it.

The Green Bomb
I do like the looks of my new Cadillac, but sadly that is where it ends. It has been proven to be fairly gutless and the milage is a bit disappointing. The biggie here is; At 2450 miles , my transmission bit the dust and left me stranded 150 miles from home. It has been over 2 weeks and I still haven't heard a peep from my dealer, who I am sure couldn't care less. Add to this , I wasn't even offered a loaner car. Very disappointing to say the least. I will never buy another GM product and in fact let everybody about my experience as I paid good money for this clunker.

Just big enough to carry grand kids
This car is hard to find in awd. We love the car. Actually got 33 mph on a level highway in NC. Quiet and stable. After a year and a half still love the car. I would buy another but I would add the self driving option.

my caddy
after owning several bmws and lexus i went back to cadillac , i just purchased a 2022 xt6 premium luxury, and so far so good my only hangup is the quality of the interior materials everything looks and feels cheap compared to lexus and bmw. I knew this prior to buying it though. Everything else is fine,it's roomy, rides nice and looks awesome. will continue to update has the years pass.UPDATE it's now december of 2022 xt6 runs good but i do have afew minor complaints. my brakes pads squeak from time to time . also I bought my xt6 in April so i had no need to use the heated seats, well in November when i tried them they did not work so i called my local caddy dealership and was informed that i needed a chip installed. Why was'nt i made aware of this at the of purchase? Now i had to wait two weeks to get this fixed so that means two weeks of heated seats when i could have gotten the chip installed during summer.. not good business by either gm or the dealership.will continue to update. UPDATE January 26 2024, I had a problem with the brakes squeaking periodically went to local caddy dealership and spoke with the service manager he had my vehicle looked at and replaced the brake pads FREE of charge. I have not had a any problems since. love my xt6! UPDATE::2/10/24 Just had to update, I am 65 yrs old and have owned and driven many automobiles and consider myself very knowledgeable when it comes to autos i have read many reviews on all makes and models. HONESTLY cadillac has done a wonderful job with this xt6 NO AUTO IS PERFECT but this xt6 is very close. Just take care of this vehicle like you should any prized possession ( use top tier gas, change the oil on schedule etc) and i'm sure this auto last 200,000 major trouble free miles or more... thank you gm....

Very Impressive
Honestly, I don’t know who is reviewing the XT6 because it is a very nice vehicle! The exterior is truly stunning from all angles. Very pronounced masculine look, five star crash safety rating for every impact. Once inside it takes a very classic view of luxury, opulent without going overboard. Details a perfectly executed, similar to our old 7 series but better than an X5. If you’re going to look at an ICE luxury SUV take this out for a drive. From my view it’s clear the reviewers didn’t actually take the XT6 out for a drive. The handling and maneuverability is awesome. I don’t like driving big vehicles but this drives like a crisp compact, it’s a joy to drive.

Love my Cadillac 2024 XT6
I bought a new 2024 Cadillac XT6 Premium Luxury with the Platinum Package. My 2024 Cadillac XT6 is fully equipped with everything but super cruise. I find the interior with the Platinum Package (the quality of the materials used in the interior, the fit and finish, and the design ) to be totally equal to or better than the competitors in the same price point range. I find the V6 engine to have all the power I need (it is extremely smooth running and extremely quiet). It has excellent acceleration and the nine speed automatic transmission is smooth shifting. I average 22.9 mpg with my city driving and when we go to our favorite Sunday restaurant for Fried Chicken (42 mile round trip that is about 2/3 highway and balance stop & go city) I get 32 to 34 mpg! The suspension provides a very smooth ride totally absorbing bumps and imperfections in the toad better than any car I have ever owned. I am 100% completely happy and satisfied with my purchase of my 2024 Cadillac XT6! After 6 months ownership I am still completely happy and satisfied with my decision to buy my 2024 Cadillac XT6!

2024 Cadillac XT 6 premium luxury
This is my 3rd Cadillac but my 1st XT6 and I love it. The interior is beautiful and the lines on the exterior make for a sleek appearance. The car is decked out with bells and whistles and the ride is smooth. I got a great deal at Bayway SW Cadillac thanks to the research I did on Edmunds.
Escalade Smaller Alternative
Perfect size, not too big, not too small, roomy but not overwhelming. Very responsive handling and smooth engine transmission coordination. Beautiful front end styling and crisp side and rear looks. The more we drive it, the better we like it. We are getting over 27mpg on the road. it is a very comfortable car but still has nice handling and performance.

Nice vehicle for its segment but not a leader.
Very good vehicle overall but as Edmunds rated this vehicle perfectly. Its a very nice vehicle, sharp design inside & out but the competition offers more features for the same or less money. The 14 speaker Bose sound system is decent! Skip the luxury trim as its main detraction is the 2.0 turbo 4 cylinder. The 2.0 is significantly less powerful than the 3.6 and the gas mileage difference is not far off from each other. I would also skip the FWD version. I opted for the Sport trim which comes standard with a different AWD system, Brembo brakes & 3.6 V6. I was surprised at this price point that this vehicle exhibits cheap, hard plastics combined with nice leather and carbon fibre trim. I mean, what were these design engineers thinking? It seems like what GM is known for: Spend money where it counts but when it comes to saving money, they make it very obvious and pass it on to the consumer! I am also not a fan of the driver seat comfort in this vehicle. At this price point, this vehicle should have adjustable thigh support extensions, upper lumbar adjustments & adjustable bottom & side bolsters! I can never find a good seating position while driving because of these missing features. If you are seriously considering this model, do yourself a favor and spend extra time in the driver seat, play with all the positions and try to find a nice setting for yourself. My vehicle came with the optional 6 passenger seating for $800. A note to GM: Why does it cost $800 to go from the standard 7 passenger seating to 6 passenger? The Third row is useful in emergencies, if you travel with smaller passengers or children that sit in the back but anyone over 5ft will not be comfortable in the third row for extended travel times. Another annoying feature is that you cannot set the safety alert seat and parking sensor audio warning at the same time. You have to choose from either the safety alert seat warning OR the warning beeps. I did have experience with Cadillac in the past & previously had an XT5 ( XT5 & XT6 share a similar platform and interior bit with the only difference being the passenger capacity) The XT5 is a better vehicle overall, if you don't need the third row seating. I have also had several BMW's in the past as well that had features for less money that the XT6 is missing. For Ex: Heads up display, fully digital instrument cluster & a plethora of front seat adjustments for optimal comfort.

Love our XT6
I’ve owned 4Runner, Highlander and CRV. This is my 1st US brand SUV and I was nervous about the purchase TBH. It’s been a year now and we are so happy with Cadillac. It’s gorgeous to look at and after 5 roadtrips we are so happy with the ride, comfort and gas mileage! I really like the Navi system and steering controls. I would like to ask Cadillac why they put the manual overdrive controls on the steering wheel. I accidentally change gears all the time because the buttons are sticking out from the wheel at 10 and 2 positions. Other than that annoyance I love my car!

Xt6 is great
We love our xt6. It is big enough for the grandkids and a lot of stuff. We have had about 7 jeeps and this is far nicer and rides better than any of those. Gas mileage is 29 on highway and 19 in town. Better than Jeep. Price is nearly the same as the jeep

Sweet Ride
Quiet comfortable ride, 24-28 mph highway on cheapest gas available. Plenty of room great handling After 56,000 miles the only issue I've had is the thermostat, it was replaced and was still under warranty. Still love this car!

XT6 Blue Streak Sport Edition
The looks and quiet ride with easy access for 6 adults is a plus. With the far rear back seats down, plenty of room to carry larger loads when needed.
What a great vehicle!
This is the most beautiful SUV in its class. The ride is smooth due to the magnetic suspension. The engine is smooth as silk and has sufficient power for this size vehicle. The 7000 rpm redline is impressive. It has every creature i could want. I did not get the super cruise option (I don't want my car to drive for me). The Brembo brakes are very good. I love the 4 switches inside the rear that let's you push a button to automatically fold the back 4 seats! I also got the optional rubber mat that covers the rear cargo area including the rear seat backs when they are folded down - you can haul cargo without worrying about scuffing the carpeted seat backs. All seats have USB ports which is great. First and second row seats are heated. The warranty is great and includes 7 year 70,000 powetrain warranty. This is one classy vehicle! My daughter bought one first and after driving hers, I had to get one for my wife. She loves it. I've owned Suburbans, Excursions, Escaldes, Tahoe, Escapes, and Equinox and will tell you this is my favorite overall.

A little bit disappointed
As a loyal owner of GM cars, I am a little bit disappointed with XT6. Quite a few small issues during my 4-month ownership: 1. Bad assembly quality (rattling noise from roof, loosing part in head control box, ugly alignment between right doors) 2. Design failure: in rainy days, barely see nothing other than water flow through rear view mirror monitor 3. Buggy software & unreliable operations: a. Car central control screen crashed & restarted twice in 3 months b. Lots of collision false alarms when backing up or crossing intersections. c. Pedestrian detected even nobody around (ghosts?) d. Auto braking once when turning left but another car was in the other lane on the right e. Notification email about low tire pressure at 26psi, but all pressure readings are above 35psi f. Back trunk door stopped in the middle while closing but nothing was blocking

Get in line to buy a Cad that buzzes your butt
I am renting a 2022 Cadillac xt6. In addition to a flashing red line your driver's seat buzzes if the car senses your stopping is not slow enough. And the buzzers cannot be turned off. The cruise control is defective; it will not maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead of you. The layout of the dashboard seems to have been designed by a committee of idiots. The gas gauge is not visible; the speedometer is in a bad position for viewing. Same for the tachometer. The controls for activating drive, reverse, and park are unnecessarily complicated. If you choose not to connect your cell phone the dash gives a message "Your phone is not connect" all the while you drive. This car is not fun to drive. If you accelerate too fast the rear wheels loose traction and you peel out. And the check engine symbol is frequently displayed. I have owned many cadillac's. This vehicle is the worst one in my experience.
Stars new ride
Love the updated navigation system, easier to use. Much simpler HUD and not so much on the steering wheel

2023 Cadillac XT6
I went from a Chevrolet Tahoe to my now Cadillac XT6. I drove my Tahoe for 7 years, until it had 100k miles then I traded it in for the Cadillac. I loved my Tahoe! I thought I wanted a little bit of a smaller SUV, so I wanted to try the Cadillac XT6. I don’t feel near as safe in the Cadillac as I did in the Tahoe. I’m not sure why, I just don’t. I feel my Tahoe was fancier in the inside verses the Cadillac. Don’t get me wrong the Cadillac is a comfortable ride. I just feel being a “Cadillac” it could’ve been a little more fancier, and not so cheap looking inside the vehicle. The gas mileage is good on it though, and better than my Tahoe. I will continue driving it for a couple more years as long as it continues to run well, but I won’t buy another one. So far running wise it hasn’t given me any issues. All besides the brakes have been squeaky since I bought it, and I bought it with zero miles. I’m not sure what’s up with the squeaky breaks. It as of now has 21k miles.

Pleasantly Not Surprised
I had leased a 2019 CT6 and loved it. I regretted not buying it at the end of the lease. In 2022 I was planning on leasing a Cadillac XT6. But with the microchip shortage at the time and the deleted features it caused, I went with a Lexus SUV. It was a long 3 years. I couldn’t wait to get into an XT6. I lucked out and stumbled across an extremely loaded 2022 pre-owned XT6. It was well taken care of. It has plenty of power and the transmission shifts so seamlessly. The cabin is quiet. The ride is very smooth. I find it difficult to criticize anything about it. If I have to criticize something, it would be the tires breaking free under hard in two wheel drive, which is front wheel drive, the torque steer is unnerving. So, I leave it in AWD all of the time. It probably cost me a mile or two per gallon. But it provides better performance. Even in AWD, the tires get a little loose. It may be the result of poor tires, not necessarily a short coming of the XT6. The auto shut off feature (shuts off engine while stopped) is very annoying. You can shut this function off, but it only last for the duration of the trip. It is reactivated every time the car is shut off at the end of the trip. Criticisms aside, I love my XT6. I get a lot of compliments as well.

Sport with Platinum Package-Perfect combo
Perfect blend of luxury and sporty-ness. We just downsized from our Escalade to an XT6 Sport with Platinum, Technology, & Driver Assist packages. I like that they have standard trims for all budgets and offer the packages and upgrades for those who want the extras. This car drives like a dream, so smooth. The sound system, technology, and upgraded finishes have made this our favorite vehicle so far. My husband loved the look of the sport and I prefer luxury so we added the platinum package for the best of both worlds. The suede ceiling and ultra view sunroof that extends to the middle row are my favorite features while his are the Brembo brakes and carbon fiber accents.

An Exceptional SUV 👌.
I was looking for an XT5, and the XT6 caught my eye 👁. The XT6 is very comfortable and has plenty of space and power for me (V6). I'd recommend giving it a look if you're checking out Cadillacs or another SUV in this size.
After 16 Days the Transmission Gave Out
Really liked the look, feel and driving comfort of the vehicle. For 16 days. Then the transmission failed. Thank goodness it was only 0.5 miles from home. Parts "on backorder". So the vehicle is sitting at the dealer. Service now claims it's a "recall". So they sold me a vehicle with a known recall.

Long on show, short on substance
It just feels plastic. Another GM product that is overpriced and under engineered for what you get. Compare this SUV to BMW, Audi, Infiniti, or even Lincoln and the difference is obvious.

My review...
I've only had the car for a bit over a week, so giving a review at this point is really just an initial perception. I like it. That's obvious or I wouldn't have bought it. The ride is fine and performance is OK for a large SUV to be used for travel. Seats could be a bit more encompassing for a more secure feeling and the acceleration could be smoother. The car is very quiet and comfortable for highway driving and moderate curvy road use in the Sport mode. I like it and expect to have it for a relatively long time. I still have my '03 Bonneville SSEI and still enjoy it. Hope to be able to say the same for the XT6 some years down the road.
Love it!
First time I’ve purchased an SUV and I love it.
