Newbie Park Avenue Owner, and Impressed
I am a 27 year old woman living in Alaska, with two toddlers. My last car, a base model Honda Accord, was totaled in an accident and I bought this car yesterday as a replacement. I couldn't believe I found a 13 year old Park Avenue in cherry condition with 20,000 original miles on it. An elderly gentleman (is anyone shocked? ;-) had been driving it, but found it too hard to get in and out of at 75 years old so he very reluctantly sold me the car. It is like butter to drive, and quite zippy in acceleration. The interior comfort is second to nothing I've experienced. I am six feet tall, and for once there is room to spare. The exterior is pure understated class. I couldn't be happier.
Favorite car to date
Since i've owned this car i have done routine maintenance. i have had no problems with reliability. i have over 180,000 miles on the car, the 3.8L supercharged motor runs strong and gets great gas mileage. 32+mpg highway and in the city with traffic i can still get 23/25mpg. its a full size car that fits 6 people with every option.

170,000+ and going strong!!
I have owned this car for only 16months but bought at 123,000 miles and let me tell you I about live in this car. Last month I purchased a Pacifica and hated the ride of that thing not to mention the lousy gas mileage...fortunately I still had my old Ultra and am now back to driving it. This car starts every time and although it's older I can say I will continue to make repairs as needed in order to keep this car. I have owned quite a few automobiles in my life and this one beats them all!!!
13 years old and still a fantastic car.
We bought this car when it was one year old, with 14000 miles on the clock in 2001, to be my wife's daily driver. By far, it is one of the best cars we have owned. Twelve years later she's only got 68K on the odometer and it runs perfectly. It has been an extremely reliable vehicle and is a pleasure to drive. It is very quiet at highway speeds, and get's exceptional mileage for a vehicle this size, 19 city / 30 highway. If you're hunting for a used example, you can't go wrong.
20 years and still Cruisin, 2000 Park Ave Ultra
I bought this car two years old and it has been a Joy. I gave it to my son about 6 years ago. He was a little hesitant at first but now he loves it. Its a cruiser, gets up to 30mph on the highway and rocks. Loves the heads up display. Car has been fairly trouble free and now has 180,000 miles. We had to replace the brake lines which rusted out. The sunroof doesn't open and the doors have occasionally given us issue. But overall it's been a great ride. Hoping for 250K ! What a great ride.

Best Car to Date
I purchased my second 1999 Park Ave after trading in my first 99 for a 2004 Grand Prix. While the Grand Prix is sporty, it doesn't hold a candle to the size, ride, mpg and trouble free driving I have experienced with the Park Avenue. I routinely get over 30 mpg on the highway and over 20 mpg in the city, that is better than my 4 cylinder pick up truck! I purchase my current Buick with 57,000 miles on it and now have over 112,000 and have only had to perform routine maintenance on the vehicle. It is a comfortable, reliable ride that I never get tired of. I also have a 2007 Lucerne, but as nice as it is, I prefer my Park Ave and will replace it with another when the time comes.
Grandparents car
I drive my grandparents 2000 park ave daily, when grandpa got it it was PERFECT, he had mention that the 3.8 was one heck of a motor and the power and economy. I didn't believe him, but I DO NOW! The 3.8 will throw you back in the seat as you float down the road. Set the cruise at 90 and just roll. It's comfy, fast VERY economical. At 90 it gets about 30MPG Hey. In town I get about 20. Back her down to 60 on the HWY keep the tack about 1800 I've got 33mpg. The leather is flawless and lime sitting in my easy chair! Got enough room I packed my nephews and all our gear and we took it camping! Even loaded down got 30 mpg! And I'm 6 1 my grandfather is 6 3 ish, and It's got plenty of room. And the sound system that GM put in that car is AMAZING! And at 140,xxx miles it starts riite up and goes Luke a bat outta hell when it needs to. Very reliable, can't wait to own one for myself !!!

Review of my 2000 Buick Ultra
The reliability of this vehicle is outstanding. In 5 years of driving not one component of the vehicle has failed. I have only had to change the battery, and replace the tires. I am amazed at the reliability, and performance of the vehicle.
Great Family Car
I bought my Park Ave used with 40K miles. This car is by far the best full size car I have ever owned. It is reliable as it is comfortable. In the past 60K miles, I have not had to replace anything major on the car. The 3.8 L engine is easy on gas and provides adequate power in typical driving conditions. The only negative I have experienced with the car is that the front brakes require above average maintenance. Overall, a small price to pay. The trunk space exceeds the available storage of a Pathfinder or Explorer (with the second row seat up). This is the vehicle of choice for my family vacations. My young son fittingly calls our Park Ave "The Comfy Car".
Love at first drive!!!
I've had this car for a week now with 123,227 miles on it and i'm in love with it. The ride is better that most european cars i've had before. I'm a sales man so i drive arround a lot and this car makes me enjoy the road more each time i drive it. It's very good on the gas too and fits all my family comfortably. All it needs is a good paint job and it will look like new!!!
Luxury's best value
The electronics will go out on you and expect to pay a few hundred to fix (rear defrost, seat adjuster). As everyone says, 30+ mpg highway (I once averaged over 38 on a 150 mile trip!) but in the city it's a dog, I'll get anywhere from 13-21 in the city. I think it looks great, and the sound system is amazing. Buy it if you want to be spoiled without burning a hole in your wallet.
The last of the really great American gunboats.
First off, I think this is one of the best looking large American luxury car ever designed. It is rolling sculpture with beautiful curved lines and nothing over-stated. You would think Buick commissioned Jaguar and Italian experts to create this elegant masterpiece. Modern Cadillacs are ugly abortions with hard angular lines and boxy styling. They lost the concept of the big American luxury-liner by trying to compete with German luxury/performance brands. Well guess what...who cares about road ripping performance? The truly great American luxury cars are all about the big floating ride and lush comfort, period. Buick nailed it down right in every category with the Park Avenue. If the yuppies snicker about big luxury-liners, let them buy their BMW's and carve up mountain roads. I'd rather sensibly cruise down the road with one finger on the steering wheel and totally surrounded in luxurious, living room comfort. With that being said, the Buick has enough power to get you around in style. The large V6 is a dated pushrod design, but supplies ample torque around town and decent highway cruising. This car has enough electronic features to make you take college courses just to understand and utilize them, but a downside is they were not thoroughly designed and some may go bad over time. The trunk is cavernous and can hold major groceries. Passengers totally relax in the big bench seats like a limo. The stereo is adequate, but you can really improve the quality with aftermarket upgrades (Hint: the trunk is perfect for a large subwoofer box firing towards the rear. This gives concert hall bass performance). Nothing on the road today feels like this bygone masterpiece of cruising on the open sea. This is a ride that we saw a lot of as kids in most American cars, but now is basically extinct...what a crying shame. So get a Park Avenue if you want total old-fashioned American luxury and don't care about racing with Euro cars. This car is not without problems though. The intake manifold seems to be the Achilles Heel and mine went bad on a local ride. It leaked coolant fluid everywhere and it took a whopping $1000 repair bill to fix. Next in the hot Florida summers, the A/C started throwing warm air at me. Upon inspection, the compressor and evaporator were leaking and needed replacing to a $2000 bill. Even though this car is 20 years old, I question why these things go bad with just 40K miles on it. The lesson here is age invites problems. I drive this car easy and never push the tach needle beyond 2000 rpm, although you can with aggressive driving. The 4-speed transmission is smooth and gets the job done. Avoid the Ultra models with a supercharger. Although the supercharger adds more torque and horsepower, it is minimum because of the old school motor design. Superchargers perform best on a modern engine with 4 valves per pot and overhead cams. The Park Avenue is definitely not for everyone. It is a piece of Americana from a dying era when Detroit ruled the roads.

Another Buick
I would have to say that over all this is the last car that I would buy for a long while. This car may be big but it is stylish and is one of its own class of cars. When i drive this car I feel the long history of true American Style every time I drive my car it feels as if I am driving a car from the 50's the craftsmanship, the style, the look and the handling its what Buick has for years always offered with its cars my Park Avenue is by far the best, reliable, dependable and going strong at 110000 miles and will for a long time to come. My hat goes to the designers of this car they truly made one hell of a good car.
Buick Park Ave
This car has been excellent, I'm 62 and this has been one of the best cars of the 16 that I have owned. The engine and drive train has had zero problems in 8 years. It had one minor issue in the 1st year that was fixed by the dealership with 1 visit. The ride is very smooth. The only problem I have had has been a weak front door lock plastic button bracket. I have replaced it 2 times. If the button is pushed hard, the plastic bracket eventually spreads and the door lock button pushes into the door planel. It still works but is not flush with the inside door panel.
Ultra
120,000 miles. City and Hwy. No problems. Wife's car and she has loved it.
My best driving experiances
Driving for over 42 years and being in the automotive repair trade for more than 35 years does'nt make me an expert but I've owned and driven many more vehicles than the average person and can say that this car is a compliment to the American car industry. It is truly the luxury vehicle of it's time.Even without considering all the "bells and whistles" it's basic features are all you could ask for in a full sized luxury "RIDE".
99 Park Avenue
I just wanted to say that GM Corp screwed up when they stopped producing this beautiful road car! There is no car in my opinion that compares with this ride and stability that the Park offers. I have driven the new Lucerne and was in fact, disappointed! Wake up GM. Don't force me to purchase a "foreign car"
Best Bang for the Buck
You won't find a better car for the money. It's size and safety (crash tests) along with the exceptional fuel economy are unsurpassed. Even the Accord can't provide what this car can. Too bad it has that senior citizen image. But then I bet those seniors driving it, have be around the block a few times and got a nice bank account besides. Do yourself buy this one and keep the other $20k in the bank!
American Quality
I purchased a 1999 Buick Ultra with 140,000 miles on it. It is in impeccable condition and has plenty of horsepower and a ride that will almost sedate you on long trips. I love the car and plan to store it to appreciate.
Smooth machine
This is the nicest automobile I have ever owned. Independent suspension, 4 wheel disc brakes, premier transmission, one of Wards Auto World 10 best engines of all time, a curvy body and an interior as quiet/comfy as my living room topped off with 32 mpg on the highway - what else has all that?
It has been a good choice
Purchased it used and being in what seemed to be in decent shape. Love the ride and room. Get about 26 mph which I thought was a couple of mpg short. But it is supercharged. Traded in an older LS400 Lexus which I liked. But I think this rides better, just as comforable, and I would guess a lot less to repair. Haven't had to yet. Has 94000 miles now. This car looks like it's going to be a keeper. My next used car will probably be another Buick thanks to this one.
Buick Park Avenue Ultra - Underrated!
This is my fifth Buick, plus I have owned 4 Mercedes. This Park Ave Ultra has fast acceleration, due to the high torque from supercharger. It is very quiet, with very low wind and engine noise. It is very stable at freeway speeds, but the shocks are weak over large undulations- the only and major weak point in the car. It grows on you!
Best Ued Car
I commute 47 miles to work one way and have previously have had small or intermediated size autos. The PA gives me consitently 32 MPG on the highway and 28 overall mpg. The ride is fantastic and overall performance exceptional. If your looking to purchase a quality automobile look no further than a used Park Ave.
Best All-Round
I bought my Park with 89k miles and am approaching 100k with no issues. Drives and sounds like a new vehicle. My car was a one-owner with all service records. You won't find a vehicle with the same high mix of size, fuel economy, PRICE, dependability and comfort. Its the best all-round. I would highly recommend it as a used vehicle purchase. The only negative point that I see is the interior design - does not live up to a $30k+ vehicle. Exterior is very timeless and classy. Ride and fuel economy is excellent! I chose it over Cadillac (price and dependability), Lincoln (price and fuel econ)and Chrysler (dependability).
2000 BUICK PARK AVE
THE VERY FIRST TIME WE DROVE IT OUT AND BEFORE EVEN FINALIZING THE DEAL THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AS WE DROVE HOME ON A SATURDAY EVENING. ONLY WENT 2 MILES FROM DEALER. AFTER TAKING IT BACK FOR REPAIR. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER ANOTHER WARNING LIGHT CAME ON TELLING SOME OTHER SENSOR WAS ALERTING US WITH THE BELLS AND LIGHT. AFTER TAKING IT IN TO THE DEALER THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART SO THEY TOOK ONE OFF OF ANOTHER NEW VEHICLE IN ORDER FOR US TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE THE BUICK.
Luxury performance and great mpg
This is my first Park Avenue, and plan to add a second soon. I have become spoiled by the excellent ride and drive of this car. It is loaded with features that some highend new cars don't offer at this time. I feel safe in this car, performed very well in crash testing. The large interior space is well thought out, wind and road noise are very hushed. The supercharged engine makes great power yet I always get 33- 34 mpg highway. There are few cars that advertise those figures and none of this size and content that I am aware of. The depreciation is high but that only makes more sense to purchase a clean used one if you plan to hang on to it. I think GM discontinued a winner.
Ultra
Third ultra, the other two I drove 250,000+ miles each with no problems and excellent fuel economy for a luxury car.
Our 2002 Buick Park Avenue
As daily drive, this car is performing very well. We have driven this car on four around trips from Virginia to Texas and back over the past 8 months. Fuel mileage on these trips has avg. 29 MPG while driving at or above the posted speed limits. Comfort level is very good. It's a very easy car to drive and enjoy.
great car
I bought this car used with 20,000 mi on it from a rental place. It has been almost perfect. the only problem i had was a electronic door lock switch falling inside the door. however as a rental you can be sure it git rough use. now had 35k miles on it and have never done anything but scheduled maint.
2000 Buick Park Ave.
Superb vehicle. I now have 64,000 miles-no repairs. Original Conquest tires still have at least another 10,000 miles. Car gets 30 mpg on the highway, 23 in the city.Only complaint is that brake rotors are thin.
2000 Buick Park Avenue
Outstanding Automoble. Great features, and gas mileage. Fantastic comfort ay an economic price.
Review of my 2000 Buick Ultra
This is anexcellent, safe vehicle.
WOW What A Car
The 2000 Buick Park Ave is one of the best cars I've owned. I have put 160,000 miles on this auto and have done nothing but regular maintenence. I did replace the front shocks at 130,000 miles. No mechanical breakdowns at all.
Exceptional and Comfortable Value
Purchased this car used from a dealer, one owner, with only 43,000 miles on it. The interior looks brand new and the exterior is nearly flawless. Amazing amount of car for the money and a much better performer than the Lincoln Town Car or Toyota Avalon. Amazingly comfortable front power seats, great fuel economy (30 hwy), lots of room everywhere and a pleasure to drive. The Park Avenue soaks up bumps very well and provides a comfortable ride. Maintenance costs very low and also very inexpensive to insure. I think I'm a new Buick fan!
My Dream Park Avenue
Why did GM stray from the Park Avenue and create the Lucerne when they had this car in their line-up? Any idea how hard it is to find a bench seat in a car anymore? I finally decided to hunt for a clean PA and one finally appeared. Low miles and looks like it has been well cared for. Buick is pricing themselves out of the market place and has no entry level cars anymore, that is why I purchased a used Park Avenue. Talk about all the bell's and whistles! I wonder if it will wash itself? I spent more for a used PA at a dealership so I could have the security of having an extended warranty for all the electronic items in this car.
This is a great car!
This car is powerful, handles great, is comfortable to ride in on long trips, cruises the freeways like a champ, gets excellent fuel mileage for a car it's size, and is fun to drive and great to be seen in. I absolutley love it and plan to buy an other one. It's a Cadillac at a lower price. It's the nicest car I have ever driven.
Great Car
Got 33.9 mpg on interstate 21.8 avg in town. Smooth ride, feels like I'm sitting in my living room. No problems, best car I've ever owned.
Great Car for the money
This is my third Park Avenue, and it is by far the best. It gets great gas mileage and handles well for its size. You do need premium fuel, however. I've had few maintenance problems. I plan to trade the car for a new 2005 Park Avenue Ulrta because it has 77,400 miles on it, and GM is going to stop making the model. I love this car, and hope that the new one will be just as good and will serve me well for five years or more years as this Park Aveenue has done. Park Avenue Ultra is a great car, and I'm sorry to see it go.
Beautiful
This is the most awesome car! The ride, comfort, stability, handling, looks, everything about this car is wonderful! I will never own another car but this!
Great Car
Just bought my first Park Ave. in September 2002. Had three LeSabres prior to this. It has 57K miles but is in great condition with all the bells & whistles. This car has a good ride and corners great. It feels very solid on the road. Plenty of luxury features that help keep your eyes on the road such as the heads up display and the climate & radio controls on the wheels. Love the sunroof, chrome wheels & heated seats. Great car for the money and these Buicks are dependable & last.
Great Car
Bought this car new and have enjoyed it ever since. It is the second Park Ave. that I have owned after owning Cadillacs. Had 1 problem with the electronic dash, dealer fixed it under warranty and have not had any problems since. The back seat is slightly smaller than my lst Park Ave., but still quite comfortable. The suspension has really been improved and rides as smoothly has the Japanese Luxury cars. I bought it fully loaded and love all the bells and whistles.
Love Park Avenues
This is my fourth Park Avenue and the last two have been supercharged. I love having the power when needed in high altitude areas as well as on freeways. I love not being tired after driving for 8 to 10 hours. I love not feeling like I am crowded inside.
Young Park Driver
Great Car, gobs of torque off the line. Comfy interior. Engine is coarse compared to Japanese makes, but not offensive. Had to repair the seat motors on both front seats to a tune of $1400.00. Very quiet car! Drives very nice. Like the Heads up display. Tire pressure monitor has I am sure saved my tire after I found a nail by letting me know before it went flat and driving on it. Great safety feature. Wish I had Stabilitrack and side airbags. Really Really love the Concert III sound system, really rocks. Don't like that I can't select CD from the steering wheel but can select am/fm. Huge trunk a major plus. Buy this car and you'll be happy.
Best car I ever owned.
Initially I had trouble with the computer indicating that my "door was ajar", which it wasn't. After that problem was corrected I have had no problems with the car. It gives great mileage for a large car. 31 mpg on a recent trip and the average overall is around 28 mpg. I have the grand touring feature which provides excellent steering and cornering.
a nice automobile
Very pleased with this Park Avenue. It has all the "bells and whistles", making it a comfortable ride on long trips. Have put just under 30,0000 miles in a little less than one year. No problems of consequence - only a small glitch with the electronic odometer. Pleasantly surprised at the gas mileage - well over 30 mpg on the highway. Also, surprised with the quality of road feal. It handles very well on curves and hills at high speeds.
Too good to believe
Bought new and have been happy with this model from the gitgo! Acceleration, even today with 147,800 miles on 'er is truly amazing. Still get 30-31 mpg on hwy and 22 city at resonable speeds. Can burn all grades of fuel even though they specify premium for supercharge. If they wre still made, we'd buy another even at the higher price of gas. If comfort is your desire this ride can't be beat either coss country (12 to 20 hrs. At a stretch) or stop and go city snarls. Style is still as good today as it was when first introduced. Too good to believe, ya, that's right, it is.
Buick park Ave.
Excellant service, comfortable for five passengers, excellamt gas mileage.
99 Buick Park Avenue
No repairs other than normal maintenance in 5 1/2 years! Great car, econhomical to drive - about 28 mpg on hwy, 19 in traffic.
Buick Lover!
It can't be beat. Great car and performance.

99 Buick LeSabre Custom
Bought it recently as my wife's car. It's a good solid car bought with low miles and well under book because of its fuddy duddy image. Bought it mainly for the overall value. Boy do these things depreciate fast, which worked out very well for me.
