Great utility vehicle that drives like a sportscar
I bought my x7 a year ago after considering this and an Audi Q8. I liked the Audi as well, but the dealership was 80 miles away versus 3 miles away in Bentonville. Sales process was the smoothest I have ever experienced. Came in, drove the car, decided I wanted it and was done purchasing it 35 minutes later. Service to date has been equally smooth. Unquestionably, the best dealer experience I have every had. As far as the vehicle itself, I had always liked X5’s, but would never consider purchasing one as they were too small for my liking. The X7 addresses that, giving me enough storage for trips and a third (albeit cramped) row of seats for when I have a lot of kids to haul. The driving experience is awesome - particularly in sports mode. The pickup from 50-80 miles per hour is impressive and makes passing a breeze - which is important for me as I drive many 2 lane roads in the country. And the technology, is fantastic. The center council is very well done. It’s easy to navigate and the sharpness of the screen is tough to beat. That is the first thing people comment on when they are in the car, particularly when the cameras are on when I’m reversing. I don’t know if the video is 4K, but the quality is exceptional. Overall, I’m very happy with the car 1 year in. I did have one issue with key fob about 1 month after I bought it, but it was taken care of promptly and I was given a loaner while they fixed the issue. Other than that it has been perfect. I would definitely buy another given my experience so far.

Best vehicle I've ever owned
I have a 2020 X7 M50i, which I ordered in December and picked up via Performance Center Delivery at the end of January (an experience I highly recommend, if you're able). We drove it home, which was an 1800-mile road trip, and have basically just been using it around town... other than a day trip up into the mountains. The X7 has performed flawlessly. It's amazingly quiet, the interior is downright sumptuous and it's got more than enough power on tap. I purchased rather extensively optioned, and I have no regrets — by the way, if you're on the fence about the Dynamic Handling Package, get it. It does handle well, particularly given the size of the vehicle, and the integrated active steering (in which the rear wheels turn to help maneuverability and handling) is extremely helpful — particularly in parking lots. No mechanical issues, no rattles, no software glitches (in fact, I've been surprised at how rock solid the wireless CarPlay feature has worked, considering the fairly regular problems I had with it in my 2017 540i). If there's one negative, it's fuel consumption... but I was aware of that before I ordered the vehicle, so I can't complain. On the trip home, I got about 26 MPG, which isn't bad. But on my last tank, which was 100% stop and go traffic around town, I only got a little over 13 MPG. But, hey, it's a heavy vehicle with a 523-hp V8 — can't expect miracles. I love the X7. Very glad I got it, and I look forward to driving every time I step in.

Best Vehicle I've Ever Owned
My BMW X7 M50i is, simply put, the best vehicle I've ever owned. Good-looking, well-built, capable and comfortable, it does all things well. I actually look for excuses to drive my X7. And as for the climate controls, I have no idea what Edmunds' reviewer is complaining about: I set the temperature controls upon delivery and haven't touched them since.
2020 BMW X7 xDrive 40i MSport Package
What else can I say, I absolutely love this vehicle. First BMW I have ever owned. Have owned various SUV's in the past - Armada, MDX, Pilot, Xterra, Tahoe. Nothing compares to the X7. This vehicle has all of the bells and whistles, is plush, and luxurious. Nothing that I have experienced before. The X7 has plenty of power (even in the 40i). Completely satisfied. Completely sold on BMW. I cannot see myself going in a different direction as far as car manufacturer in the future.

2021 x7 40i
I lease multiple cars for my family every 2 to 3 years. I have driven all the luxury brands including Benz, Lexus, Infinity, and Volvo. I've driven all types of cars also including, roadsters, sedans, SUV's, and EVs. The 2021 X7 is the most refined and luxurious vehicle I've driven to date. This thing is ultra smooth and quiet. Car and Driver compared this to a Benz GLS. GLS had the extra insulation option of more sound deadening insulation and dual glass and the X7 was still quieter at all speeds. IMHO I think Mercedes are a bit overpriced. Luxurious yes, but doesn't handle as well and their engines are a notch less refined and not as efficient as BMWs. This X7 is a rock solid vault. At 90 miles an hour it feels like you're going 50 and driving on glass. BMW's inline 6 and perfectly calibrated 8 speed transmission is considered one of the best on the planet. Other than the x7, I've leased 5 and 7 series with the inline 6 and it's by far the best engine/ transmission combo I've experienced. I had a 7 with the fantastic v8 also but the smoothest in my opinion is the inline. I test drove everything, even a Tesla and Ford Expedition. Not only was the X7 the most impressive but BMW' s lease program was one of the most competitive.

Love my X7
This car is really fun to drive, and it fits my family comfortably. I will say that I need a lesson in all of it's features because there are a bunch of surprises in technology - but I need to go to dealership and get educated. I traded an Escalade and had a Yukon previously. I gave up a little room, but the car is definitely sportier and more fun.

Amazing vehicle
BMW’s X7 is a fantastic full-sized SUV. It is amazingly refined inside, and is plenty fun to drive with the I6. The idrive system is intuitive and is easy to customize. Everyone who rides with me has positive comments - and I always get “nominated” to drive to lunch at work. I could not be more impressed with this vehicle. The heated armrests seemed gimmicky - until I used them throughout a looong Minnesota winter. The Harmon/Kardon audio system is great, and the “driver assist” has redefined highway road trips. The interior is perfect, the most comfortable I have ever driven in. It is QUIET and SMOOTH. Sport mode actually makes a noticeable change in performance. I am a huge fan. No buyer’s remorse. 10/10.

So far so good
I used to own an X5 before and everything was good except for electrical problems which kept me away from BMW for a while. So far, the X7 delivers. TLDR: It's good, but you have to suck it up to some of its outrageous flaws and inconveniences, just like your wife. :D Pros: Quietness: It's surprisingly insulated, couldn't even hear the person outside yelling with the window up. Engine: smooth and powerful, my paranoid parents didn't notice when I was at 65mph or 90mph. Transmission: very suave, no jerks. The paddles are quite easy-to-use. If you're new, it will help to automatically revert back to Drive. Recommend Sport mode unless you're on a road trip, then go Comfort (don't buy it if you're gonna drive Eco) Head up display: this is HUGE, got everything you need: navigation, directions, digital speed, limits, tachometer, like a dashboard on top of a dashboard. Dashboard: Idk why people hate it but personally I love the reverse tachometer and the whole layout. It fits so well with maps, infotainment, trip data, etc... It looks so avant-garde and balanced, apart from all comtemporaries dashboard. Panoramic roof: stretching from first 2 rows, then another sunroof for the third row, the only car of its kind. Great for your claustrophobic 3rd row passengers. 3rd row: Spacious, with all the USB ports you need. Also collapsible, easy to get to with all fancy electronic buttons. Backup automation: Works like magic, restep everything you do 50ft back. Helpful in tight parking and garage. If you can get it in, it can get you out. Gimmicks: Gesture controls, very fun to impress your friends, though the volume and phone call gestures are quite useful (though you can also learn that on the steering wheel). Also remote engine startup is cool, just remember to go into climate control to set it up. Cons: (tis gonna be brutal) 1)Who designs this stupid center console!!!! Glaring glossy that shined into my eyes when I'm trying to find the buttons. 2)In order to reach the buttons, you need to move your hand AROUND the stick (who does that). Not only that, they FLATTEN buttons, there's no way to figure them just by touch. Same with the Mode buttons. It's dangerous to have to look down at it while also having it GLARINGLY BLINDED you. 3) The stupid suspension thing is slow and just for show, the car will revert back to whatever level the modes tell them to. 4) The kicking trunk thing: yeah, you need a key with you, so you have to endure your parents shouting at you when you were chatting with a nice cashier girl because "the grocery is too heavy". blah blah 5) The whole fancy programmed one-button-rules-it-all that collapse all the cargo space: even if a tiny little purse got in the way, it will not proceed. So you have to empty out the fcking car every time. And it was bloody slow. 6) No vents in 3rd seat unless you pay for "Cold" Weather package: who bloody thinks that COLD weather actually means Cold air A/C? Who thought of such "briliance" in the marketing department. 7) Parking assistance: apparently somebody at the engineering department was "Hmph, my program is not for amateurs and open spaces. Let's make a program so that it will only take the super hardcore task of trying to jam itself between 2 cars, screw ample open spaces next to it." Overengineering "genius". Extra: there's no turning lights. It's a BMW after all.

The best ride available in a SUV Silent and Smooth
You need to get some options in order to get the best out of this SUV, Don't miss the luxury seating option for the best seats you've ever had in a car. I came out of a Porsche Cayenne Turbo into this X7 and have never looked back. Component quality, fit, and finish are the same level as the Porsche and the price is 1/3 less. Test drive them both and you'll see what I mean. After 2 Years of ownership, it still manages to impress me every time I'm in it. VERY Highly recommended!! This one has been replaced by a 2022 Alpina XB7. What a car!!

Favorite car
I've been blessed to be able to afford almost any brand of car I desire so I've had a bunch of high end cars (Rolls, Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes, Cadillac and more) so I know quality when I see it. My X7 40i. is the best SUV for the money available . First class assembly, Superb ride, Silent cabin - equal to the Rolls, and drives like a sports car. As composed at 120 mph as it is at 70 mph. BMW has a new meaning - Beautiful Machine Wellmade. Tremendous Value.

disappointed BMW owner
I have been driving Lexus 470 & 570 for the last 20 years. since Lexus waits so long to bring out a new model, I looked at Mercedes and BMW. Decided on BMW X7 50i, V8. Am putting the vehicle in the shop for electrical problems for rhe second time. 3600 miles and six months old. My last LX570 was never in the shop in 4 years except for maintenance and brake service.

BMW X7 Best Vehicle I've ever had!
This SUV looks great has tremendous room inside the vehicle and drives great with very good gas mileage. The X7 looks so good in black with the big grill and huge 21 inch tires and mags. The SUV drives great with the standard 6 cylinder 4.0 engine. Very fast and 19 + miles to the gallon average highway and city. The extra leather seating is luxuris and feels great and after 2 years has held up well. The X7 looks great and drives even better it may be the smoothest ride I've ever had. The concerns or dislikes are no 3rd seat row ducks, crazy but unless you buy the 5th zone air they don't provide ducks for those rear passengers very bad miss. The paint job looks good but really needs upgrading on the base vehicle too many dings from stones on the road which I have no control over. An option for a better paint job would make sense but for $77,000 a great job on a BMW should be expected. I wish I new about the ducts I would have bought the 5th zone for $800. Overall the X7 is a great SUV and really is fast and has great room in the back even when the 3rd row is up and you have a 7 passenger or maybe a 6. The driver assistance professional is well worth the $1700 price and there too many nice options to mention and customize the X7. Great SUV I highly recommend it.

Run flats blow
If you get a flat tire the only option is to have the car towed to a dealership to have the tire changed. It can not be changed on the side of the road. You have to hope the dealership closest to you has the tire in stock. If not you have to wait 4 days like I did to have your tire changed.

Possessed Rear Seats
The back seats tried to close on my infant twins TWICE, and I had to forcefully stop the seat from closing. I tried pressing the button to make it stop closing, but it resisted. So I used all of my energy to stop the seat, which had a car seat attached to it with a baby inside, from continuing to close. This alone makes me wish we never got this car. It is brand new with no miles, I've driven it maybe 15 times, and will never drive it again with my children in the car.

Unbelievable Vehicle
I have leased many vehicles over my adult life from most of the luxury brands with the exception of BMW. My wife and I went to the BMW dealership to look at a X5. While waiting we saw the X7 in the showroom and requested to test drive one. I was completely blown away with how luxurious this SUV and how incredible it is to drive. Excellent acceleration, great technology and incredible ride. Have had the SUV for 2 weeks and I have never driven a nicer vehicle. Truly the ultimate driving machine!

Stay away from this car
We had problem with the car since day one. Last issue was in break system where it stopped working while my wife driving in the car. Very scary moment. The worse part is the dealership could not point to the problem. My car is parked in the garage! Horrible dealership response.

Get the M50i
The power the 523 horses make is amazing! It’s my wife’s car, so I only get to drive on occasion! The interior is awesome to say the least! She had the X5 but was a bit cramped for me, the X7 has a ton more room ! The rumble of the V8 reminds me of the power this bad boys has !! Sound systems and the 2nd row captain chairs are a must in my opine! I’m ready for a road trip ! Hard to keep my heavy foot off the pedal!!

Amazing
Purchased 2021 CPO with 5k miles; driven 400 miles in 3 weeks and absolutely love the drive. I have driven many SUV’s over the last 20 years. Acura MDX, Mazda CX9, Mercedes M and GLS, Lexus RX, GX and the X7 is the best drive by far. The engine is smooth and refined, the cabin is quite, spacious and comfortable. In my opinion the only thing I would want more of is more under cabin storage space. The space offered is used to store the cargo cover.

dissapointed
I wish I would have read reviews on the X7 before buying. I'm now at the point of selling or trading my 2020 X7. The main reason is all the issues I've had with a 1year old car. so far the car has had the car computer repaired, one suspension strut replaced, brakes replaced, water pump replaced, moon roof shade replaced and now the charging pad is not functioning properly. I truly loved my car but now I'm worried the warranty won't be enough for me to keep this vehicle any longer.

The rear tires wear out at 12,000 miles!!!!!
Apparently, due to the heavy weight of this SUV,the rear tires routinely wear out at about 12,000 miles.Being Run Flat tires, they are not cheap.None of the traditional car reviews ever mention this. Caveat Emptor!! I drive like an old man, so it is not a case of fast acceleration & heavy braking.

X7M Outstanding
Top of the line . X7M. Daily driver. Great power. Spacious. Extremely smooth and comfortable.
unreliable and unreasonably super expensive to fix
I have owned it for 6 months. This is THE MOST unreliable car I have ever owned from a company that has THE WORST customer service I have ever experienced. After a few montsh later...my review stands ...I am not gonna post much more as this would only exacerbate the picture...junk for sale... and I hate BMW ridiculously pathetic customer service and attitude to CHARGE FOR A TEST and only if THEY ADJUDICATE to refund a customer... like it was a damn pleasure to keep visiting those dealers to have them retest it right due to intermittent issues. several month later: TERRRIBLE CAR. BMWs are KINGS OF PLASTICs that detriorate and break ALL OVER. JUNK ENGINEERING. BOSCH components guarantee disposability and obliterate ANY reliability. NEVER A BMW AGAIN

Beautiful SUV Blue with white Leather smooth
The kids are gone so no more interior colors to hide spills and crumbs. The 6 cylinder runs very smooth. I always like a 8 cylinders vehicles so it doesn't have them quick pick up like my 750. However it is very quick and you don’t need the 8 cylinders engine. Had X7 loaner when X7 needed yearly service the 8 is much louder inside so that is a draw back. Because we already own a BMW the learning curve for idrive was quick. Love the interior leather everywhere. Room enough for six passengers the grandkids get the 3rd row. Went to a wedding took 4 adults son 7 foot I’m 6’8 and the wife’s are 5’10 we drove 1000 miles round trip better comfort than 1st class flight. CON my wife has driven a Yukon XL for 30 years so going to the X7 was a shocked about the lack of interior storage in the center bin is small. On the wedding trip we took luggage for 8 people the kids flying didn’t want to check bags at airport. So packing all the luggage was an engineering marvel for me. Surprise the under trunk spare tire area has a lot of storage space so don’t get the spare.

BMW X7 M50i
Hands down! Hands Down!! Hands Down the best car i have driven. So smooth, so fast, and so comfortable. What a CAR!!! My kids love it, and my family is so happy for me. I have had many different kind of cars from BMW, Benz, Audi, and Range Rover, Tesla and this SUV is the best! The acceleration when needed just blows annoying slow drivers away that try and speed up on me, when i try and pass, lol. They get to eat my dust!

Technology is needy and annoying
My X7 is beautifully finished inside - and out with superb road manners and unbeatable comfort however, the technology has numerous unprompted options that require attention and are just simply over-done to the point of being annoying. Climate controls require manually adjusting the fan speed - which is mystifying given all the technology that is seldom needed/used. Accidentally pressing the speed limit control and anti-rolling buttons (easy to do) can be very disconcerting
