I have the small wheelbase a8 which i love . This is my second one . Had 2 740 BMW . This car tops them . tops them . Will buy the longer wheelbase 2018 when it comes out later this year

When I was younger I said one day I would own a BMW. Boy was I wrong. One of my buddies purchased a 750L so I couldn’t get the same car. He did me a favor. This Audi in comparison makes the BMW look dated. As soon as you sit inside you’re amazed how the interior welcomes you. From the LED interior lights to Pop up MMI screen that says Audi. I’m the 2nd owner of this car . Purchased with 38k miles or so. Driving it home from the dealer it was a 70 mile drive or so and the grin I wore then I still have. Power and torque just pushes you back in the seat. At 90MPH you cant believe you’re going that fast as it feels like you’re doing 50. I had to set the MPH warning for 68mph as to not get carried away. Safety features in this car are unbelievable. Rear Radar to warm you of approaching cars. Front cameras (optional infra red)and radar to keep you centered in lane with driver assist. Adaptive cruise control, Heads up display. Massage heated and cooled seats, keyless entry. Rear heated seats. Although I don’t have the executive package. The car comes with rear reclining seats as well. Driving this car from NY to Ga I got 30mpg and on the way back I was able to get 32mpg. This is unheard of from a twin turboV8 450hp engine. I haven’t had my 1st oil change yet. Or any issues. I hope to not have any. The only thing I would add are USB ports and some kind of Bell to let you know when you’ve left your signal on. As the car is so big finding a parking space could be a problem. The ride is so comfortable it feels as if you’re in an airplane. The car could use better sound deadening. As I feel the interior cabin for a car of this quality should be quieter. You see MB 550 and BMW 7-Series all day. You won’t see too many A8’s. So you’re in a class all by yourself. There’s no mistaking Audi is king of the road. 8/18/22 I now have 85,000 miles. I’ve had two issues thus far. One of them MAJOR! The first was a PCV valve which was covered under a recall. At 81,000 miles on a trip to Upstate NY I was hearing a ting ting bell like sound. Well on the way home the turbos blew. I was about 20 miles from home and was able to limp home. This was a $14000.00 repair as quoted by the dealership. My extended warranty company screwed me and didn’t cover the repairs ( that’s another story) I did some research and found this was a common issue and NHTSA has an open investigation. I went on the Audi forums and asked if anyone else had the problem and provided a link to NHTSA. I also contacted Audi USA to see if they would cover the issue. The dealership lowered the cost to $9000. Bit still who wants to pay that much in a repair? After about a week or so I had gotten a call from Audi USA and said they would not cover and the dealership sets the price🤬. At the same time I was looking in the forums and I guess that morning Audi issued a bulletin covering all cars affected by this. I gave the rep the bulletin number and lo and behold there was a note in my account she overlooked that said the repairs would be covered. And now she’s running fine again. I have some squeaking coming from the front sway bushings so I’ll be replacing those( another common issue) Overall I’d still give this car a 5⭐️. The looks, power, comfort, I plan to do an oil change in the next coming days. The schedule says every 10k miles but I think I’ll do every 5k now. I received another recall notice about the turbos telling me to bring it in for service to change the oil screen which clogs and caused the turbos to fail. When I bring it in for the oil change I’ll see if the updated part has been installed. JHM sells an after market part which removes the screen altogether, relocates it on top of the turbos making them more serviceable

I found out Audi does not retain its value, bought a new 2013 A6 prestige and traded up to the A8. Can look at it different ways i feel i lost a lot of value on my A6 , but i really gained a lot moving up to the A8. Bottom line is We will always have an Audi, this is the finest driving and quality built automobile out there. I always tell people you drive an Audi and you will end up getting one.

If you are on the market for an Audi, pay attention, these issues are common for many models.... When I bought my 2015 A8L year and a half ago, I was so happy with the purchase. I always loved Audi brand and owned a 2005 A6 many years ago, without much problems, just regular maintenance. My new A8 had just over 40k miles, and with every factory recommended maintenance record, I didn’t anticipate any problems from it either. Boy, was I wrong... After later than a year I was doing 55k maintenance and my mechanic pointed out that the water pump is going to go very soon. He also said that it’s normal for these cars to have the water pump replaced at around 60-80k miles. I did not believe him, of course, I mean, come on, how can a water pump go at such miles on a $100k Audi, right??? Even on cheap old Chevies these things last for many years and at least twice as many miles... Unfortunately, my car wasn’t a cheap Chevy. In approximately 6-8 month a Check Coolant message went on, and I found that the car is leaking antifreeze. I went to another mechanic who showed me that it’s leaking from a thin pipe that connects the coolant reservoir with the engine. I replaced it, but in a week I figured that the car is still dripping antifreeze. They looked again, and it was leaking from underneath the thermostat housing. This time it was much more painful because the supercharger had to come off which took some labor $$$. Well, after all said and done, they pressure-test the system to make sure there is no air, and guess what.... the water pump leaks!!! If I didn’t see all three leaks with my own eye, I wouldn’t believe it - my beautiful and well-maintained Audi A8 is nothing less than a leaky bucket - it was leaking antifreeze from three separate locations, TREE, Karl!!!! So much for the famous German quality.... I hope this issue is resolved, and here is another one that I’ll have to resolve soon. I started noticing a slight steering wheel vibration when I touch break pedal on the highway. Obviously, the front rotors are going bad, and I’ll need to replace them when the breaks are due. Around $300 per rotor for this particular model. One again, we are talking about a flagship Audi sedan with just over 60k miles of it. Its currently wearing its second set of breaks ever, and the rotors are starting to get bent? Isn’t this too early for this type of car, Audi? Anyways, I wanted to love this car, and I thought it was a great alternative to the 7-series or S-Class. Unfortunately, it’s not. I’ll probably stick to it for now, purely because I just spent so much money, but when I get rid of it in a year, I’ll never buy another Audi again. Ever!
