2013 A6 Audio System Problems

I own a 2013 Audi A6 2.0T. The vehicle was defective from day 1. While I love the car overall, one big watch out is an issues with MMI equipped cars with their standard sound system that intermittently sends a very loud, starting boom noise. The sound will cut out for up to a minute and then play normally until the next time. It can happen infrequently or several times in a day. If you are considering purchasing this vehicle beware of this major, unresolved issue. I have heard that several other models have the same issue. Audi stalled on acknowledging the issue for about 6 months and still does not have a fix. It is believed to be software related.

This car has been owned for 6000 miles now. It has all of the features one could ask for, including an incredible sound system Bose 14 speaker system. The prestige model adds the S line exterior and really sets the front end apart from the other models. Gas consumption is a combined 25mpg. It can go from a comfort cruiser to a rocket with a few button pushs and a flick of the wrist to shift into sport mode. What is so incredible about this car is it seems like it is two cars in one when you make the adjustments from comfort to sport. Interior is top notch and so far squeak and rattles are non existent. The normal suspesion is pretty stiff on its own (which I like). Good control!

My baby on her deathbed

2012 A6 3.0 - was running perfect up until two weeks ago (October 2022). Turned her on to massive shaking/vibrations throughout the car and a check engine light. Zero warning signs up to this point. After multiple mechanics looking into it (including Audi dealership), turns out I lost cylinder #4, and she's misfiring bad. Both intake manifolds have so much carbon build up that the rail flaps will not open at the 4000 rpm threshold. So my supercharged car no longer drives like an Audi - it now drives like a 4 cylinder Kia. After some few basic fixes, she is driveable, but she's on her deathbed. The value of the car is not worth the true fix required. After $3k, another $6k is the estimate for the manifolds. This is my second A6 and this surprise problem puts a hole in my heart. Considering switching brands :( I had fun while it lasted.

139,000 Audi A6 3.0T Quattro. Happy reporting

I bought an abused example. I had to sort out a few minor leaks, and basic maintenance for the years of neglect. However, in 2020 my 2012 Audi A6 3.0T still rivals many new cars. People think its nicer and more expensive then it is. I have driven it on a 3500 mile road trip and it gave me no problems. This car came with no service history, a check engine light and a leaky undercarriage. I sorted all this (DIY at home) and its a blast to own and drive. After 139,830 miles, the interior has held up, the car starts every time and drives like it did new. I believe if you know someone to help with the maintenance costs (independent mechanic) or if you don't mind turning wrenches, this car is great. Yes Toyota and Honda (which we own as our main family cars) are more reliable and cheaper to work on. There is not a single car that is the full package like this one. Safe for family, great for driving and I mean truly driving, amazing in snow and still gets compliments.

I've had my Audi A6 for 3 months now and there are no real disappointments. I love the rock solid feel of the car. The acceleration is impressive for such a large car. While the technology is impressive, Audi has a little ways to go with the AudiConnect feed - the Online services such as news, sports, etc. are too limited. I love the WiFi connectivity. The next generation should add much more content. The interior is extremely spacious and comfortable.
