Would I buy this again? You bet
I bought this car knowing it had issues. It had been sitting on a lot for more than 2 years because nobody wanted to fix it. Picked it up for less than $1000 and have only put about 500 into it if you include 4 new tires. Without tires, was only about 225. If you MUST have Audi parts, they are expensive. I bought a set of front axles (bad CV joints) off Amazon for 95 bucks, and a set of drilled rotors and pads for 160, I have done all the work myself, so no labor cost to me. It's getting about 30 Mpg average, even though computer says 26. The engine had over 200 K miles on it when i bought it, and it still spins like a sewing machine. Easy revs and enough power to have fun, but not get in trouble. It does go through a bit of oil, and I had to "power purge" the heating system to get the heat working, but nothing costly. It's a great car to have some fun if you can fix it yourself, you will love this. My only complaint is @ over 6 Ft tall my left knee turns off my blinker during left turns if I need to clutch.(Update) Lost timing belt. Ate both heads. right after I replaced the heater core. Almost impossible to work under the dash as the dash support frame is welded to the chassis. Pitched the car... Was cheaper to buy a different car than to have the heads done. I would still buy another one if found cheap enough to spend the money fixing it,.

Horrible Engine - Horrible Company
I bought my 2001 A4 1.8T when it was 3 years old with 48K miles on it. I loved it for a while - great snow car, but at 72K, the timing belt failed and ruined the engine. Audi refuses to do anything to help, and I was out $8K for a new engine. Finally traded it in.

Great car, some dealership issues
We had a great experience buying this car. However, our experience with the a different dealer for maintenance (Royal Motors in SF) has been ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. Audi dealer mechanics are bonused based on customer feedback. We didn't know this when we filled out the Audi feedback letter after our 1st service at Royal Motors. One of the mechanics left a voice mail on our home phone complaining about how our low feedback score was going to hurt his compensation. To top it off, every time we go back, we get this passive-aggressive treatment from the employees, with petty comments like "I see you gave ___ a low score" years after that feedback was submitted.
Most fun I ever had
This car handles like a dream. Takes the curves like it's on rails. Accelerates quickly from a dead stop. Stock pirelli tires were destroyed by new york potholes, purchased Pilot A/S, no more blown tires. The interior is nice enough to get positive comments from passengers. The stereo is okay, but could be better. As for reliability, I had problems with the following: Oil pump, power windows, sunroof, locks, tensioner, recall on iginition coil. My next car will be a Japanese make for the reliability. Had my integra past 110,000 miles and only replaced clutch and brakes.
A rebadged VW w/ nothing to offer
I purchased this car a few months ago due to my new job where I needed to drive daily, since prior to this I've had 2 sports cars (350z, mr2 turbo). I needed something comfortable with that didn't look old and was cheap. I've always love the red color scheme of Audi interiors so I picked up this car. To be honest if you're looking to buy an A4, save yourself the money and go buy a VW jetta/passat. Aside from the quattro there really isn't much of a difference between them, the cars options are all kind of crappy, and this car is not as luxurious as my old Lexus ES, and definitely wasn't as fun as my 350z, plus it's horribly unreliable, and the little problems that come up tear away at you.
