LE MANS, France — The SRT Viper GT3-R, the latest version of the Viper GTS-R, starts at an estimated $459,000, Chrysler said on Thursday.

Orders are being taken now for late 2013 delivery.

Chrysler says the SRT Viper GT3-R gets a new V10 engine, but did not disclose power figures.

The SRT Viper GT3-R is the direct descendant of the high-performance GTS-R campaigned by SRT Motorsports in the LM GTE Pro Class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the American Le Mans Series.

"Like every Viper racecar, the GT3-R is a direct descendant of the SRT Viper street car," said Ralph Gilles, SRT Brand and Motorsports president and CEO, in a statement. "There is no mistaking the similarities between the two, which is a key component of this class of sports car racing."

The car was developed in collaboration with Riley Technologies.

Details include an aerodynamic package, Xtrac six-speed sequential transmission with paddle shifters, six-piston front brake calipers with four-piston rears, lightweight wheels and a multi-disc race clutch.

Edmunds says: The SRT Viper GT3-R hits the track with an impressive pedigree.
