GOODWOOD, England — The 2013 Rolls-Royce Ghost One Thousand and One Nights edition is inspired by the Arabian literary classic but is only for customers in the Middle East.

The special-edition Ghost gets two-tone exterior paint and hand-painted exterior touches. Rolls-Royce said the special model shows how it can take "inspiration from a rich array of cultures."

Earlier, the automaker rolled out a Year of the Dragon Phantom edition for China and an Aviator Collection Phantom Coupe.

The Ghost One Thousand and One Nights edition is spun off the "The Arabian Nights Entertainment," noted the automaker.

The collection of stories is written in Arabic.

"The framework, in which the king of Samarkand has killed all his wives until he marries Scheherazade, who saves her life by entertaining him with her stories is of Persian origin, though the stories themselves also derive from Indian and other sources," according to the Oxford Encyclopedic English Dictionary.

Rolls-Royce said in a statement that "the epic tales told by Scheherazade have captivated readers and storytellers for centuries."

Pricing was not announced on the special model. The 2013 Rolls-Royce Ghost starts at $260,750 in the U.S., including a $2,000 destination charge and a $2,100 gas-guzzler tax.

The company said this latest Ghost collection will be launched in "three chapters," with the first being unveiled at the 2012 Sharjah International Auto Show.

Edmunds says: Rolls-Royce is becoming the master at customizing cars for local cultures.
