Yes. I agree. I currently own a 745i, it's been 10 years. The driving is very additive and I really enjoy this car. However, it has issues and it's not cheap to keep up with it. I never had big problem with it but all the small little problems could unfortunately cost a lot more than a Toyota. I recently test drive a Acura RL (2010) and was actually very impressed ... You're right that ordering can be better for a dealer in several ways. All BMWs are made to order and BMW's production process is completely built around custom ordering (roughly 80% by the end customer and about 20% by dealers.) It's pretty much the norm for them. A dealer doesn't mind placing an order because it's a guaranteed sale and they know you'll be anxious to pick up your new car ... Read More

ab10000, you are wrong about model years being "just marketing". The model year directly affects residual value. A 2012 has greater market value and residual value than a 2011 sold in Dec 2011 or Jan 2012. A dealer generally is more motivated to unload a left-over 2011 that's been sitting on the lot than he is for a 2012 that just arrived. There are other reasons why you are wrong: some ... Read More
