Used 2005 Volvo XC90 V8 AWD 4dr SUV (4.4L 8cyl 6A) Consumer Reviews
Volvo Rating
I've driven the Volvo on long drives, around town, and in the mountains. The vehicle is very fast, solid, confortable, and reliable. I had a Range Rover before the Volvo and believe the Volvo is at least its equal at a much lower price.
My XC90 V-8
v8 has great performance. super acceleration. 21 mpg hwy. small fuel tank limits driving range. Minor but irritating electronic glitches that dealer can't duplicate or repair. Why no compass? Brake and accelerator pedals too close together.

Unbelievable do everything vehicle!
We wanted a vehicle that could do it all, & this is it. Holds 7 more comfortably than anything else its size. The V8 has amazing power to carry any load, plus a heavy-duty trailer loaded with 5,000 lb of rock, yet gets more reasonable gas mileage than many other SUVs. When studded tires added for winter, it is a snow machine. On icy days there are only two vehicles that get out of our hilly neighborhood, ours and a Hummer, none of the BMWx5s, Suburban, or other AWD vehicles can make the hill. It takes us and friends skiing in comfort and safety (with a ski box on top), it drives my kids and friends around town with ease, and will take us to the opera in style. This is the do everything car.
Love it!
This is a fantastic vehicle. The cargo room of an SUV and the performance of a sport sedan. Solid, heavy, and safe. A blast to drive. Acceleration at highway speeds is pretty impressive. Looks great, too.
Nothing but problems
I've had nothing but problems with my 2005 XC90, and they are still ongoing. The main issue is a continuous start problem, but the front door locks have broken, the door pull has come loose, the carpeting has come loose, the CD changer is broken, the DVD player raises and lowers unexpectedly while driving. The dealer can't figure out the start problem. I have to pay for rental cars, lose time from work, and experience the general frustration of not being able to depend on a car. I won't buy another Volvo.
