Glitchy SUV with less than 2k miles
My vehicle has stalled when sitting at stoplights, the rear sensor takes a while to notify of an object in your rear path, the rear hatch door is stuck closed for the second time. My info sytem will randomly go black and reboot and if my phone is plugged in to charge it will also reboot. Having serious issues with my Taos.

Crap
I got my taos 4 months ago.. I got it with a rat stuck in dashboard complained to dealer was told i was crazy... The radio goes black or freezes randomly, you can hear clicking under steering wheel where feet are, the display changes by itself and u cant change it bc it freezes, got stuck at walmart for over 5 minutes bc it says cant find my key even though i had the key in front of the dashboard waving it around for over 5 minutes looking like a crackhead, had a few times says the rearview camera currently unavailable, had it turn off a few times at lights had to manually restart, replace the emission valve and pump due to failure, really bouncy and noise when driving, now my one rear brake on passenger side is completely gone and rotor is messed up and the dealership is blaming me telling me its unsafe to drive and wants me to sign a waiver to get vehicle back and tells me their is over 400 ppl waiting for them.... The transmission is very jerky

Pleasant surprise
Have a soft spot in my heart for VW since had one as my first 2 cars back in the 1970s and 80s. I was a little apprehensive buying the Taos since those vehicles were okay but not great. Decided to go back to VW because the price was right and the test drive was surprisingly good. Very nice ride. Solid feel and fairly quiet ride. Good vision, amazing turning radius, outrageous cargo area for a small SUV. The interior is very spacious and second row can easily accommodate a 6' adult with the front seat completely back! If you don't drive aggressively you can get over 40 mpg on the highway - really. So far so good and I highly recommend the Taos. Approximately 2000 miles driven so far.

BUYER BEWARE - This isn't your Dad's VW
UPDATE: Still one star because I can't leave zero. After having this vehicle for 8 months, I stand by my review. VW finally came up with a software fix for the engine issue only took 6 months. HORRIBLE vehicle to drive. Transmission issues with shifting, stalls for no reason, windows go down when you pull the button to raise them ????? It's literally an Edsel/Yugo/Unicorn. Never in 40 yrs of car buying have I been more disappointed in a vehicle or felt more unappreciated and ripped off. I tried returning this Taos it to the dealer within 24 hours after purchase after I got a "real" test drive. They made a joke out of it and told me i was out of luck. They had my money, why should they care? (Penske Volkswagen North Scottsdale AZ) The road noise was so loud I couldnt listen to the radio and enjoy it. The ride is horrible. The seats are tight and small for a full sized adult. It has stalled at random intervals at least twice a week since I bought it in April. Last week while traveling in Southern California multiple warning lights came on for no apparent reason including the Stop Engine light. After wasting 3 days in Palm Springs with the VW dealer, I was told they are having many, many, many complaints about the same thing occuring in Taos models with the 1.5 engine (it's an AUDI engine by the way as they told me) and they are having issues with sensors going off when you use low grade fuel. (They recommend 87 octane) In spite of the highest gas prices in history, they said I now have to use 91 octane or higher or add an octane booster to my fuel until VW comes up with a fix. Is VW going to pay the extra dollar per gallon I have to pay for their mess up? Evidently they are awaiting approval from the EPA before they can issue a recall to reset the software. Silly and a waste of calories. That could take years! In the meantime, I am sick that I bought this vehicle. I've never owned a vehicle that makes me angry everytime I walk out to the garage and see it parked. I just want to set it on fire and be done with it. I'd trade it but the best offer I got from a new car dealer was nearly 10 grand less than I paid for it and the VW dealer I bought it from offered me 7500.00 less. Sick. I guess I'm stuck with another Edsel. Thanks VW, you've screwed the consumers once again! Maybe you'll end up buying all of these back like you did with the other cars you screwed up that malfunctioned due to your lies about the faulty exhaust systems. The biggest joke in Auto history. this vehicle is all looks and no brains. Run as fast as you can from the VW dealer, do not let yourself get roped into buying a Yugo disguised as a 2022 VW Taos. UPDATE: Jan 2025 Still driving this vehicle for a couple more weeks. Nothing but issues. Spent 2 weeks in the VW dealer having the head gasket and other parts replaced due to a recall. Took almost 5 months to get all the parts needed. VW said sorry, we're doing our best? Really? Never again will buy a VW.

Problems well under the 1st 1000 miles
I purchased a 2022 VW Taos SE and have had problems that started under the 1st 1000 miles. The remote start on the key fob does not work (which is the sole purpose I purchased the SE model) and I was told the ECM is 'throwing a code' on a part that is bad. This part (I was told an EGR or vac hose) is bad, and they are on back order, and have been on back order for a long period of time (is what the VW Tech said). The Taos will continue to throw this code, which in turn will keep me from using the remote start. It is frustrating when the vehicle has under 1000 miles on it (this started happening around 600 miles). In my opinion, spend the extra on a Toyota Rav4 or something more reliable.
