Used 2007 Volkswagen Passat Consumer Reviews
LEMON!
Purchased a Certified Pre-Owned car with 36k miles and have had nothing but problems from the get go! I've brought my car in at least 7 times (3 of them occurring within the first 3 months) and I haven't even owned it for a year! The warranty has covered everything so far, but having to take it into the dealer every other month is such a pain; especially since they're not open on the weekends. It seems like as soon as one thing is fixed another breaks, not to mention the endless part recalls. The most recent issue is excessive oil consumption (adding 3 quarts in between 5k oil changes) and will have to submit a claim to VW to have it fixed. Ridiculous! Pretty car, but regret buying it!
2007 Passat Wagon: Value, Quality, FUN!
VW's '07 2.0T Passat Station wagon is a hoot. Powerful and agile, it longs for the Autobahn and no speed limit. It looks (and drives) like a much more expensive car. It comes loaded with standard features that might be money-making options and possesses a number of very avantgarde features, this Passat is worth a hard look/purchase. Even the low-end version comes replete with the safety, efficiency, comfort, and engineering features of a luxury vehicle. On the Interstate in MD I got 37 MPG on 87 fuel, with the air conditioning running. It is fast off the blocks with its Tiptronic transmission (with three modes: auto, sport, standard). I'm glad I bought mine - I'd buy a second Passat if I had a larger garage!

Second Passat Not Bad
Had an '02 GLX 4Mo wagon, traded on this '07. This car is completely competent if not outstanding. The '02 was vault-like and had nary a noise body-wise when I traded it. This one is more jarring over bumps, something I attribute to the 17" wheels vs the 16" on the '02. Not nearly as solid vs the '02, though. I, like some others here, use synthetic oil every 4500- 5500 miles and have not had a problem in 15 months and 23k miles (68k total on the car bought used). Ergonomically it is bigger and has a better driving position. Overall satisfied. DON'T bother with the Nav system-replacement DVD's are $99/yr for updates. Got a Garmin and pd. $129 for lifetime updates.
Great car!
So far, a great car. Comfortable, quick and fun to drive. Great to drive and room for OZ (the dog). We love it.
Great Handling
I've driven the car now for 7 months and put on almost 20000 miles, 80% on interstate and highway. I like the responsiveness of the engine and the great traction, especially in snow. Gas mileage has been much better than expected from such a powerful engine. On the interstate I usually get 26-28 mpg, on the highway 27-32, in town about 20-24. Up to now I have not encountered any problems. I can recommend this car to anybody who has to drive a lot, wants to have some fun while driving and still occasionally has to haul a family.
