Used 2007 Volkswagen Passat Consumer Reviews
Ignition Coil Issues. Again!
The car only has 31,500 miles and has been in the shop 3 times - twice for major electrical issues and once for a recall on, you guessed it, electrical issues. The dealership describes as "ignition coil problems." I describe it as the car suddenly loses power and begins to shake making it a very dangerous driving situation. We are totally fed up with this problem and feel as though we are getting the run around from the dealer.
Interior trim quality
After spending almost $40,000 on this Passat, I am very angry with how many trim rattles this has. I previously owned a 2002 Passat motion, this was far better in the interior quality department. It really does go to show that build quality is still an issue for VW. I will be spending my generous budget elsewhere in 2 years.

Practical Performance Family Car
This is a well designed car with balance between safety, roominess, performance, practicality and gas mileage. It has good acceleration except there is a lag at <5 mph. It also has loads of storage. It's much better than driving a minivan.
The Wolfsberg Edition Sedan
I've driven Mercedes, BMW, Dodge, Chevrolet, and even a Nissan but this car is the best EVER. It handles like Mercedes, is faster than a BMW, and costs as much as a VW. It is so quiet and comfortable, and it is huge. I'm 6'1" and I can sit in the back seat comfortably. You could by an Audi A4 (Which I consider the only real competitor) but for 2/3 the price, I'll take the Passat. I did buy this new and I have 17,000 Miles now.
Best car I have ever owned.
Since '91 I have owned 6 cars, 5 of them Passats (1 of each generation)-- and each one got better than the previous one. When you compare handling, styling, fit & finish, safety, room, features and price, nothing else even comes close!! My prior car was an '04 BMW 325xi and I sold it 6 months early to get back into another Passat and no regrets.
