Braks: Required new right rear brake repairs $400.00 approx. Was told by dealership"due to my driving habits", I had to pay for repairs eventhough it was during warranty period. (I had just given up a 2000zx nissan purchased brand new in 1985--an automatic). Second brake job...$800.00 plus. Currently needs shocks and struts. Left window control lever has broken. Just installed new battery. Nearly blew out enjine twice because beetle loosesengine oil...from I don't know whe

Enjoyed the car!

I have had this car for 2 1/2 years and finally selling it. I enjoyed the car. Wasn't quite as reliable as you might expect a car under 3 yrs old, but it is a fun car to drive. I had no major mechanical issues, just minor things. I considered buying a '02 TurboS, but instead bought a '03 C230K. Will be sad to see my car go, it was a lot of fun drive. The 2.0 (2.slow) has some pep, but you would expect better gas mileage. Roomy, fun to drive, and retro styling is very cool!

2000 Volkswagen Beetle

We bought our 2000 Volkswagen Beetle new and we take care if it. The check engine light has come on every few months since we've had it. Notable fixes include, MAFS (x2), sensor (~one month ago) and it is on again. At $80 just to find out what is wrong, it gets expensive. Also, the passenger window wouldn't roll up, the door switches are broken, and the armrest latch busted. VW service wants $800 to change two brakes, and an arm and a leg for everything else. Don't waste your time. I've had two other good experiences with VW but this car was a mistake. AVOID THIS CAR!

Worse than the first

Noisy. Slow. Unreliable. Cheap interior pieces. Grossly overpriced. You'd think I was talking about a Hyundai? Nope. We're talking about the "new" Beetle, which is a more miserable experience than the "old" Beetle. Every emissions control piece has failed. Switches break. Bottoms out in car washes. Recalls. More interior rattles than cars 1/3 the price. Of 10 cars, this is the worst I've ever owned.

I hate Volkswagen!

This car is my nightmare. I hate it so much. I have it since January and I already spent $3,000 fixing it! I'm so tired of all that happened with it. And I'm broke obviously. Do never ever ever buy a Volkswagen whatever model it is that has more than 4/5 years. I'm from Portugal, and there I had a Renault twingo, you probably don't know what it is, but its way cheaper and way better than this thing! And my car was from 1994! Shame on you Volkswagen!
