2017 Tacoma TRD
Was a long time Toyota owner, bought another without doing heavy research. Style, brakes, interior, all fine. Transmission is gutless. The worst driving experience. I have to use the ECT tow button every where i drive and leave it in manual 4th gear to get any decent driving experience. Avoid.

BAHA Taco
Overall the newly designed Tacoma is nice truck. Luckily I have a three year lease on this truck. With 26 months into the lease and only 13K miles on the truck it is starting to bubble rust on the rocker sills where the weather seal attaches to the sill ... (very disappointing). The passenger side speaker in the dash near the A-pillar rattles annoyingly. I had a water stream running down the inside of the rear sliding window up in the corner on the drivers side while raining. There were two different times I climbed into the truck with a thick frost build up on the inside of the wind shield. (Yes it was near zero degrees outside but really??) Final note, looking forward to the end of my lease.

Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road Access Cab
I have 25,000 miles on this vehicle ranging from off road, around town and highway driving including trips through the mountains. This truck is very comfortable for long trips. It’s easy to steer and park! The utility of it is great! I use everything on it. The 6 foot bed is useful to haul everything that I have put in it. It’s lower height makes lifting things in and out of the bed a breeze. It’s narrower than a standard half ton truck so it’s easy to get down narrow dirt roads without scratching up your truck. It’s built tough to last! Go buy one now!

Oh what a feeling...Toyota
I waited to make this review after 1 year of driving. I love the high stance and ground clearance that have always made Tacoma’s stand apart. So far I love driving it. I am happy with the power and the peace of mind knowing it will last me many years of trouble free driving. After all, it’s the same engine found in Lexus, Sienna, Highlander and Camry. I agree the transmission likes to shift to the next gear quickly but I am getting decent mileage. Averaging 21-22mpg on regular fuel. If I get tired of the early shifting, I can press the ECT button and I’ve got plenty of power to keep or pass fellow motorists with ease. I can tell the interior material will last. The cloth seats and interior plastic feel very durable. I personally love the seating position. Toyota could put a little more features in the vehicle but the lack of cutting edge features is what helps keep Toyota reliable. Love the power sliding rear window. I get plenty of compliments. Update At 30k miles I have had a great experience. Still drives like new. So far I’ve had to replace the rear brake light due to a leak and battery died right at 2 year mark. Other than that truck has been very reliable.

Get a V6 period & watch for hidden costs
UPDATE 9-1-18- Truck still getting 16MPG avg. Paint job holds up to nothing- through to metal all over. Speedometer & Tachometer went bad immediately- had replaced under warranty. Truck stills drives sluggish & rough even when accelerating from stop. Local dealership- Mike Erdman Toyota- has been no help. Cannot advise to buy this truck. From before: I learned a lot. Toyota doesn't tell you a lot- and neither will the dealerships. Here's what I bought & why I am unsatisfied. We bought a 2.7 liter Access cab SR w cruise control for a power wash/window wash company/occasional personal use. We tow a 1500 lbs trailer that can be up to 3000 with full water tanks (will rarely do this- but that is the scope). The PW trailer is a great designed small trailer. The 2.7 liter 4 cyl is rated for 3500 lbs max towing, we "should be" good. The 4cyl is very sluggish even without trailer. Put on trailer & you're getting 10MPG & you can barely safely get up to 70mph. Put it on cruise control- in Florida on the hwy & your tach will be stuck at 3k RPM & you can literally watch your gas gauge drop. Also- TOYOTA does NOT provide a hitch for 4cyl. If your truck isn't a V6, you'll need aftermarket. Dealership will charge more. It is super easy to self-install, but our dealership charged for Toyota tow hitch & gave us aftermarket. Told us afterwards there is not aftermarket OEM Toyota hitch. Also- the Tacoma branded rubber mats are for 4 door trucks- they literally don't fit access cabs. There are NO mats included with the truck. Dealers charge for them- $299 for cloth mats! You can get amazing Husky mats for $180 front & back. Here's another thing- the 2016/17 Tacoma bodies have more weight to them making the V6 get the same gas mileage as the 4cyl. Tow something and now the V6 gets better gas mileage. I don't know why they even offer the 4cyl any more. There is NO advantage to the 4cyl. We have yet to get over 20 mpg without towing on a mix of Highway & city- mostly hwy & cruise control around 60-70MPH. Honestly, the 4 cyl driving feels clunky, sluggish & outdated. Get the V6- you will have more power & actually get better gas mileage overall- especially if you are going to tow ANYTHING. It actually feels similar to the acceleration on my 1982 Mercedes turbo diesel, not good.
