Used 2006 Toyota Tacoma 4dr Access Cab SB (2.7L 4cyl 4A) Consumer Reviews
Great Truck
I purchased a 2006 Toyota Tacoma 4 dr access cab in 12/06. I was a faithful Ford Ranger owner prior to the Tacoma. I had a '97 Ranger until 4/06 and then purchased a 2006 Ranger. I was not pleased with the '06 Ranger. I took a chance on a Toyora Tacoma. Really enjoy the quality and performance of this vehicle, especially compared to the '06 Ranger. There really is a dramatic difference in quality, interior features and smooth ride. The gas mileage on the Tacoma is not as good -about 21 city and 24 highway - but the superior quality makes up for it.
I like this truck!
This is a great little truck. I included the SR5 package and upgrade wheels... looks really sharp and rides very comfortable. So far, the only thing I have hauled in it is air. Quality, design and workmanship are all very good.

No Confidence!
I loved my 2006 Tacoma for about 18000 miles. It was a great truck until it decided to accelerate while my foot was on the brake pulling into my garage. Fortunately only the truck was damaged and my house was spared. I took the truck to the dealer to check over for the cause of the acceleration. Couldn't find a problem. Toyota regional also couldn't find a problem. I repaired the damage on mine and traded it immediately. I would never feel safe in the Tacoma again. Be careful if you are considering the Tacoma!!
Access cab, 2.7, 2 wd, 5 speed... LOVE IT!!!!
I had a 78 SR5, 4 cyl, 2wd, 5 speed, an 86 SR5, 4 cyl, 1 ton 2wd, 5speed, and sold my 97 RAV4 to buy this 06 Tacoma access cab, 2.7 liter, 2 wd, 5 speed about a month ago with 119k miles from the original owner. In my 1st month with it I've averaged 25.2 mpg with 50/50 city/hwy driving. It runs fantastic, shifts so smoothly, drives like a mid-size car, and is just a pleasure to drive. The stock stereo is surprisingly good too(!) but no iphone jack. I was concerned the 4 cylinder would not be strong enough and would be a dog in traffic. It's not at all! I will most likely keep this truck a very long time. I still love my 1st generation MR2 though!

Not the truck i hoped and payed for
As we all know Toyota Tacomas are very expensive in comparison to their domestic counterparts. You're hoping they give u at least 200k. Bought this truck brand new with 26 miles. I commute nearly 350 miles every 2 days. I changed both the oil and filter every 3,000 with Toyota's recommended oil, flushed the trans every 45k and had the rear end done every 50k. Cooling system at 65k and again at 118k. With 121,450 miles my 2.7L seized. Not what I expected. Toyota said at 120k it should be ready for an overhaul. Engine sludge. OK? I thought they lasted. My wife's 05 FX4 f150 has 188k on original drivetrain along with my 97 Jeep 4.0 with 294k on the original engine. Should have spent money elsewhere.
