Used 2006 Toyota Tacoma Consumer Reviews
06 Tacoma
This thing is sweet. Drives like a car, power in all realms of the motor, low end torque, high end horsepower. What a pleasure to drive on a daily basis. The transmission, however is a little clumsy. No need to worry about the composite bed, either. Ive thrown some pretty heavy items at with no remorse. and to true Toyota standards... took a beating and begged for more.
An absolute delight!
Just replaced my first truck (a 92' Toyota compact truck) w/ a 06' Tacoma. I would not even consider another brand due to my experience w/ my 92'. I honestly did not have a lot of money to spend, so I went w/ a manual transmission/regular cab. All I can say is omg wow what a lot of truck for not a lot of cash. The interior is solid as a rock, and very well put together. I have found myself frequently checking my payment book and marveling at how fantastic this vehicle is for such a low payment.

06 Tacoma, three years in.
Bought my 2006 Black, 4WD, Short-bed TRD, used in June of 2007. It had 20K miles on it, and it is sitting at just over 60K miles now (April 2010). Wanted a smaller truck that was 4WD with four doors and I was willing to sacrifice power, fun, and space. So far, the space is the only sacrifice. The bed is pretty small when hauling things, but I knew that going into the deal. For the trucks size and weight, the power is outstanding. I pulled a Chevy 1500 out of a ditch with ease of course, I was still on asphalt and had good traction. Regardless, this was my first Toyota truck and I will own it until the wheels fall off! Great little truck, and still get compliments all the time.
What a great truck!
I turned in a leased 2005 Chevy Avalanche Z71. I had discovered that I really didn't need a full sized truck, and with gas prices where they are, I decided to buy a compact pick-up. I needed to have 4x4 and a double-cab design for seating for 4. I wanted reliability, but most importantly higher gas mileage. I quickly discovered that the Tacoma topped the list as far as meeting these minimum requirements. It has the best gas mileage in its class, very comfortable ride, and with the SR5 package, more than enough standard creature comforts. I have never owned a Toyota before, always opting for Hondas, but I have to tell you, I now understand "Toyota loyalty." What a great buy!
My Dream Vehicle
When I first saw this truck last year, I told my wife that's the Truck for me. 4 Door, Double Cab, Long Bed with a Hood Scoop even (TRD Sport Package). Beautiful Body style (Hardbody & Tuff) and of couse it's a freakin Toyota (Bulletproof) Man! And it came in my Favorite Color: Dark (Indigo) Blue! It just needs to be Raised (at least 6") w/35" Tires (Suspesion lift & Wheels & Tires on Order), Put on Cold Air Intake Throttle Body Spacer, Tornado, JBA Headers, TRD Exhaust w/MangnaFlow Muffler, UniChip Computer Chip, GPS/CD & 8 Disc Changer System, DVD Headrest system and a Sunroof.
