Used 2004 Toyota Sienna Consumer Reviews
Love my Sienna, 75K miles later!
As a sworn minivan hater, I finally saw the light in 2004. I spend much of my time toting my two young kids around, and this van is perfect for the job. There is a mirror to view the backseat built into the car! The back windows can go down! The sliding doors can be controlled by me! The rear liftgate is also automatic and can be controlled by the driver! As a mom, these are amazing benefits that I didn't even know I was missing with my old SUV. Other than going through a few sets of tires, I have had NO problems with it. The ultimate Mom-mobile, I highly recommend it to those who spend a lot of time schlepping the kids.
All was fine until Door Cable Broke
Our 2004 Toyota Minivan 8 passenger was a fine, reliable, easy to drive, no frills (we bought the LE), family van. We've been camping, endless school pickups dropoffs, family events, etc. Never a worry. Then, the cable in the automatic door broke. Thank goodness we only have one auto slider. The cost to repair? $1400! We have duct taped the thing in the shut position until there is a recall on this problem. After our shock, I have found that there are more vans with this problem than can be counted. Too bad Toyota is not willing to deal on this. We had been considering Prius/Matrix/Camry for a purchase this year. Now we will reconsider.

Sienna
Best minivan besides the honda odyssey
A very Surprising revelation
After driving Honda's for almost 20 years, I had my mind focused on a Honda Odyssey. I was a little reluctant to consider a different brand. So, first, we went out and test drove the Honda Odyssey. One of my local Honda dealers was kind enough to allow us to keep one for a day. As expected, it was a very nice van and the dealer was willing to give a big discount. The next day, we went straight to the Toyota dealer. Unfortunately, they weren't willing to let us keep one overnight and pricing was very firm. However, we took it on a long test drive and were amazed at the improvements! To make a long story short, we bought the Sienna XLE and love it.
A Pretty Good Van
We've owned the vehicle for about 7 weeks, with a 1800 mile road trip with 3 kids under our belts. Got great gas mileage 23mpg, 70+mph and the AC on all the time. Good turning radius for a vehicle of this size. On the AWD version there is no spare, relying on the run flat tires to get you home. You can have one installed but it will occupy the area located behind the rear seat eliminating the ability to fold half of it down.
