1994 pickup
Before my dad got me this truck I was driving an 1989 Isuzu pickup, which is a great truck too. We got it with 111,000 miles and now it has 147,400. This truck is great! The gas mileage average's out to about 25 miles/gallon. It is hard to drive on hills, especially when pulling something or having heavy stuff in the bed. Other than that this truck is very dependable. Trucks are supposed to be abused on the exterior, and I have done my fair share. I change the oil every 3,000 miles, and have other work done as needed. I will drive it until it falls apart. In the next couple of years I will get another truck. Hopefully I will have the same experience with that one.
Best truck
I purchased this truck in 1998 for $10K with 42,000 miles. Currently at 145,000 miles and nothing has broken. Aggressive maintenance practices using only factory parts have proven to be effective. The best truck I've ever owned - the 22RE engine is the finest example of Japanese engineering, wish the top 3 auto makers in the US would model their quality design efforts.
Best Truck you can buy
I love this truck, Its the best vehicle I have ever owned and it was the cheapest. It may be slow but that has made me a more relaxed safe driver. It is fun to drive, I can't explain why. 130,000 miles on the original clutch. It will go anywhere.
Great Overall Truck
I bought this truck in March of 2002, it had 82k miles and looked exactly like the photo above. It was in mint condition, one owner (driven by a non- off-roading lady) who took really good care of it. All I have done is keep up the routine oil changes and so on, new tires, etc. It runs great, rides great, and it still looks great. Most of my friends who drive Xterras, Pathfinders, 4- runners are jealous. I love the truck and would buy another if in the same position, of course gas mileage is the only problem, but I new it before I bought it.
unstoppable
I bought this as a restore project. It had been badly beat, but this truck just can't be stopped. MPG;22, great off road, will go anywhere. very utilitarian - not much luxury here, but a fantastic truck. drives like a truck - NOT a car. 22-re engine is a good, strong, balanced engine, it is great for everything but highway towing a LOT of weight. Plenty of torque for low speed driving/towing/climbing. parts can be more expensive and rare than the newer Tacoma.
