Highlander Occupies High Ground
The things you would expect: excellent hybrid engineering, thoughtful use of technology, an extremely comfortable and quiet ride. The car is solid, secure, ready for long-trips, even if there's just a retired couple in the car. Big disappointment, as happens with sales packaging, was not being able to get Adaptive Lighting as an option.

FALSE ADVERTISING
This car has never come close to the advertised mileage. We have never averaged better than 25 miles to the gallon per tank. Mostly 23 miles to the gallon. First car I have owned in 50 years of driving that left us stranded. After driving 40 miles to our destination the car sat in the parking lot for 5 minutes. Would not start. Message was Hybrid system has stopped working. Called Toyota roadside assistance. 90 minute wait for a tow truck. I walked to the Toyota dealership one block away. Until the service manager got involved I was told I would have to wait for the tow truck. The service manager drove over and checked the car, determined the car needed a jump and started the car. several error messages popped up and had to be cleared. The service manager said we had a dead battery. How does that happen when you drive the car 40 miles and it will not restart? This week we discovered the coating on the wheels was peeling off. All four wheels had to be replaced. This is by first and last Toyota. It will be gone before the warranty expires. I ca not afford to have my wife stranded because the car will not start. The car is 18 months old with 8000 miles. It is driven daily.

Champ,
I drove Ford Escape 2001 SUV for 20 years. I spend a lot of money on gas. Since I got 2019 highlander hybrid, I saved money on gas. It is amazing SUV. I will never go back to any regular SUV gas mileage. I will go for hybrid all the way! Toyota did great job on various hybrid vehicles. I love my new Toyota Highlander Hybrid.
