Used 2003 Toyota ECHO Consumer Reviews
We love our ECHO
My husband and I drove an ECHO back in 2000 and fell in love with it; however we couldnt afford one at the time. We just bought a 2003 4dr/manual and we love it. Very roomy and you cant beat the gas mileage. We do think the manual is a little peppier than the automatic.
Echo 2003
I got this used car when it had 190.000 km back in 2017 and since then it ran 250.000 km. It still goes on & on without lacking, just keep changing oil every 5000 km and filters every year. The fuel tank was changed but it was my mistake, I reversed so hard on a snow/icy pile that a sharp fragment of ice has pierced the tank. You can consider it as a small SUV as it can glide in its position to free itself from piled snow. Marvelous car !!!

A review from a non-fanboy...
I bought my '03 Echo auto trans in 2009 with 51,000km on it, showroom condition for $7,000 CAD (way below market at the time). At 138,000km the crankshaft sensor went, no warning, no engine light, needed a tow. The bigger one however was the transmission failure at 173,000km (nylon speed sensor gear). Again, no warning other than the speedometer stopped working and it wouldn't go into the highest gear, so I couldn't drive it on the highway anymore. Only fix was a new transmission. Apparently this is an issue on the '03 Corolla as well...they share the same transmission. So, Toyota is NOT infallible as the cult would have you believe.
